Bay Shore Marina - rain clouds but no rain

Here we go, So this has always been my go to place for…read morerelaxing, peacefulness, meditation, clearing and throwing away all negativity. Watching the fire island boats go in and out can be pretty cool. Nice place to BBQ which on the holidays I do BBQ within their BBQ area next to the water park. Parking for the summer you have to pay unless you have a recreation card. There is a restaurant located in the back of the Marina called Nick on the Bay. Great restaurant on the water. Overall love coming to this Marina to take my naps, have a picnic, take a walk most of all decompress . It can be a bit crowded down there from time to time, but overall it's a great place to go. Happy yelping.

Bay Shore Marina is an easy drive from Southern State Parkway Ex 42 and follow signs down. Pleanty…read moreof parking along with handicap access. There was a playground area as well. Todays visit was to the Paddleboat Lauren Kristy for a 3 hour trip circling to Fire Isand and back. The Lauren Kristy with Captain Mike was docked waiting for passangers of a scheduled Senior Trip done through the Town of Oysterbay. How did the name of the boat come about, Captain Mike named it for his first 2 nieces, It's been up and running at least 15 years. It is a nice little boat that seats up to 120 people. Today's visit was of 98 people from 3 towns Massapequa, Syosset and Bethpage. Buses were available for travel access. rive direct, easy Southern State to exit 42 and then follow signs to Marina. Crew - Sean, Lisa, Kelly and Jackie/Jacqueline Barmaids and servers were all friendly, pleasant, and easy to talk with. (see pix) Lisa' s maiden voyage today and she charmingly aced it. Jackie worked on LI for a water filtering system company before working on the boat also enjoyable to speak with. Senior activity from TOB cost 83.00 per person - nonrefundable. It noted a Hot lunch buffet; but todays was a cold display of salad, breads, (fishy) tuna fish, ham slices, and grilled chicken breast. There were tables and chairs for people to sit and the buffet was served by crew members. Nothing of quality special to write home about here. There was coffee set up and dessert of processed brownies or fruit salad. Bottles of standard filtered water were a fee of $1.00, oddly the sink water or the bottled water did not taste clean. The bar had full number of items for mixed drinks and or wine for sale. Soda was included in the meal price. There was also a separate bar in an upstairs section as well. Trip was 11-2, with a bit of a tour guide review over the speaker. We saw what I believe was said was the Robert Moses bridge, went under and through it, Fire Island, the current Fire Island Light House, and 5 smaller islands that used to be one big one divided in 1620 from a big storm, along the way were views of Duck/Fishing houses that I am told were passed down from family members to family members and used forosleeping over in the season. (see pix) Seems the fishing in the area is currently striped bass. Got the terms of area for the boat, Bow, Stern, starboard and Port. The Stern has the paddle in the back. There are both men's and women's bathrooms on board and even a place to plug something in top side. Today's weather was overcast but no rain and while windy was nice outside on deck. A man quietly prophesized handing out you are special because God loves you flyers. While a quiet process, some, were not pleased as feeling it was inappropriate for him to hand out these small flyers. As for accessibility, there was a flat standard ramp which accommodated a wheelchair. There was a step to go over to enter of which a wheelchair needed to be lifted over. People with walkers were able to use them. Overall a nice little even to do to get outside and enjoy the Fall air.

There are many advantages in owning your own slip, the most notable being that you're not paying rent that you will never see again. You get to use your slip during the season and then lay-up on land or stay in water offseason without paying the dock or storage charges you pay at other marinas. As an owner, you can also rent out your slip like renting out any other property you own. And when you had enough of the boating life you can sell it... just like any other property you own. If you're looking for a place that you'll enjoy as if it were your own backyard then give us a call. Many owners do successfully rent their slips. Let us help find what you need. The AYC is within walking distance of Montauk Highway, with restaurants and stores available. Each slip has a parking spot right behind your slip. And every slip has a concrete patio behind the slip for you to place your own picnic table and barbecue to entertain your family and guests. This place is absurd. I got a slip there $2,600 for the season. When i got there they offered to do…read moremy bottom paint for a great price. I left a $300 deposit. Later found out that they didn't realize my boat was new and had not been painted yet and wanted to charge several thousand dollars more than anyone else. Was told id get money back and it never happened. Fast forward its time for my 20 hour service. Place i bought it told me 6 or 700 but they couldn't get to it right away. I speak with Brian about having them do it (especially with a $300 credit) and he told me he would be around that ballpark and call me when they pull boat out to finalize everything. I get a call whens its DONE saying it came out to $1,200 bucks. The way they operate is subpar. Now that the seasons started and half the slips are empty i understand why. If i had any confidence in getting my money back id leave and go bring my boat elsewhere. Beware of how these guys operate.

The absolute worst experience from start to "finish"…read more The entire staff, including the owners son "little John" is disgustingly immature and unprofessional. They do not even greet you when you walk in. They make the experience uncomfortable and ruin the excitement. They sell boats out from under you. They make promises they cannot keep. NEVER deal with Pete in "sales" because the only thing he sells is BS. As a woman, I have a firmer handshake than that "man" who cannot even look you in the eyes while "shaking" your hand. I have NEVER dealt with a worse basin. We roamed and looked at the boats ourselves. They do NOT care and it shows. When I called to speak with "little john" he did not care at all to hear nor listen to my concerns. This place is a joke. Do not waste your time nor money. For you little John. Who I told I would review and you made a joke of it. Take care. XO. Update 4/1: (wish it was an April Fools joke) Response from the owner (photo attached)- Clearly very mature and professional the same way he was when I called and gave him the opportunity to address the things my husband and I felt needed to be expressed. Instead of saying let me make this right, there was zero concern. Complete disrespect and an absolutely pompous response. Making jokes about Mental Illness is very serious. Not to mention we never even met in person for you to say such a thing. As previously mentioned- we helped ourselves around the basin. Although we are not surprised by your response, you have a lot of growing up to do. Thank you for proving my point. You should be ashamed of yourself. Have a great day!

I recently acquired a Catalina 25, and was moving it from Bellmore to his marina earlier this week…read more (Unbeknownst to me, the boat had some engine issues and was covered in three years of barnacles.) It was slow going and we were very late showing up to Matt's Marina. Not only were they so nice to me when my plans kept changing, but were accommodating when I showed up late and a bit frazzled from having such a tough boat move. The guys there helped 1) securely store my sailboat on their limited open dock space overnight and 2) take it out of the water first thing the next day. They reported back on the condition of the boat and necessary repairs before they got started with anything. They did hours upon HOURS of MASSIVE barnacle removal, which is a thankless and dirty job, all so I can move my boat to it's North Shore location later this week. They even did a walk-through and reviewed the condition of the hull with me after the barnacles were off and it was fully power-washed, pointing out the next steps for repairs and how to best handle it. These are some REALLY good people on the South Shore, and I would recommend them to anyone. Great crew, nice guys, and have a sense of humor if you're like me and have no idea what you're doing. It's all a learning experience. Thank you guys for being so cool and helping a girl out!
