This place was literally right next-door to my hotel, so I walked over for breakfast. It's a Turkish restaurant, that has things such as pastries, sandwiches, coffees, etc..... The gentleman who helped me was very friendly and helpful. I decided to tthe borek. It's a pastry that can be made either savory or sweet, I decided to have mine with. Spinach and cheese. I also ordered the baklava, and a little cup of the Turkish coffee (whoa!!). The Borek , I didn't look that big in the case spoiler alert, it was.... The dough was wonderfully flaky , and the filling was amazingly savory. I liked the spinach, and I'm not sure what type of cheese it was. But it played with the spinach perfectly it reminded me very much of a spanakopita, which I also love. The baklava was also excellent. It was perfectly flaky on the outside, and the honey, and the nuts inside were just fantastic. It is one of the better baklava that I have ever had. Now let's talk about the Turkish coffee. I've had Lebanese coffee, and I loved, and Ithought was strong.... the Turkish coffee makes Lebanese coffee taste like decaf that you would get from a cheap corner diner. With just a little bit of milk and sugar, it was perfect it was rich, and it was strong! At this point, I could probably make it to six hours to my destination without a car :). All of this great food, and I was only roughly out the door 20 bucks. For such high-quality food, it was worth it. I hope I'm back in Rochester again, because I would easily stop here again. read more

Cafe Manzara feels like a little pocket of Türkiye tucked into Brighton--and honestly, I wasn't expecting to be this charmed. I came in for something simple and left fully committed to the experience. The Turkish coffee arrived in the most adorable cup, strong and velvety with that classic, unapologetic depth, paired with a soft, rose-kissed Turkish delight that made the whole thing feel like a ritual rather than just a caffeine stop. I took my time to enjoy every sip of it. And then the rice pudding. Served warm in a rustic clay bowl, topped generously with pistachios--it hit that perfect balance of creamy, lightly sweet, and comforting without being heavy. One of those desserts that sneaks up on you and suddenly you're scraping the bottom of the dish. The space itself is cozy and thoughtfully put together, and the people working there genuinely elevate it. Kind, welcoming, and happy to let you linger a bit, which feels increasingly rare. The first thing I noticed is how healthy and vibrant the plants look and to me that was the winning point. This is a great cozy spot for folks who don't enjoy social interactions and high energy vibes. It's more for the slow in the moment experience to sip and relax. read more

Amazing café. Kind, caring, and compassionate customer service. I tried to tip the young man for serving my coffee and food and he refused. The Turkish coffee was great. Will be back for more. The latte was just as delicious. The pastries were the star. I devoured them they were so good. The cheese filled one that looks like am empanada was my favorite. I'll be ordering two next time. The beef filled one was my second favorite. And get the su borek (another favorite). I have also had their tiramasu and tres leches (all homemade) and they blew me away. How has this place been open for months and we have only learned about it recently?? I found out about it when a friend posted on socials that they had been here for breakfast, and they called it the 'best diner in Rochester'. While I wouldn't classify Manzara as a 'diner' I will agree that our first tastes were excellent! On the day we visited, there was a student studying at a table with what looked like a sandwich; another table had 4 older gentleman having coffees; otherwise the place (at 4 pm in the afternoon on a Saturday) was quiet. The owner, Huseyin, was behind the counter and happily answered our gazillion questions about the menu and the items displayed in the counter shelf. We decided to get the daily soup special, Garlic lamb soup, $6, and a slice of the Dubai cheesecake, $10, which we took home to 'supplement' our dinner. The soup, pictured here, was fantastic! Huseyin had offered to add vinegar before giving it to us, saying that's how they would eat it, and we said yes - that little bit of tanginess perfectly balanced out the super rich lamb flavor. And the soup was just silky and delectable - kind of between a consume and a bisque, in terms of viscosity. The portion was also generous, so much that we each had 2 bowls, and I was completed sated from the fat and flavor. I didn't even need the rest of the dinner I had prepared at home - I made the soup the main meal that night! The cheesecake was also fantastic - the combination of flavors, creaminess of the cheesecake, and portion size, which we were able to split and each felt like we'd had a 'full piece', were great. Exactly what you hope for when you see such a beautiful dessert in a case. We really loved those 'first tastes' and look forward to returning. We highly recommend asking questions and letting Huseyin make recommendations for you. If the taste and quality of the food is any indicator, this guy really knows what he is doing! read more

The börek was really good - nice, flaky and buttery. It broke a smidgeon during transit, but that's perfectly normal. The cake, though - the cake is life-changing. It's like a tres leches cake but with pistachio and coconut and a milk pudding custard layer in between... It's so, so, so good. It's light and fluffy and I could not stop eating it!! I also would like to note that I did reach out to ask a question about the pastries and the person on the account sent me a photo of the pastry I asked about to see what it looked like. The menu lists the savory pastries but there's a nice sweet and savory selection. We chose savory. My husband had the Beef Poacha, kind of like an empanada only longer. He found it tasty. I had the Su Borek, a flaky cheese pie. I liked it but thought maybe it was a little bland. We both had Turkish Tea which we always love. There's no juice available so we grabbed a bottle of their traditional yogurt drink to share. It's pretty tart, so my husband added some sweetener. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal. The atmosphere is very pleasant. Young man who took our order only speaks a little English, so his friend steps in to help translate. Great food and service every time I come. When I first came, got the deluxe waffle with banana ice cream. The best part about the deluxe is that they let you pick which ice cream you want from the ones they have in their case. I got the banana pie ice cream just because there were also bananas on the waffle and I thought it would go well, which it absolutely did! Also got a Turkish coffee, which was also amazing. Smooth, rich, and the Turkish delight at the end was a perfect finish. Second time, got the berry mix waffle. Great place to go for late night coffee and pastry. The pastry was very unique and delicious. We have been there three times and all three times it was enjoyable. The location is family run, clean and with open space. You order at the counter and they bring you your coffee and pastry (or other more substantial foods such as waffles, sandwiches) to your table and you dont pay until you are finished. The staff are exceptionally accommodating and kind. tonight we had something called "Mosaic" which was a heavy cake with chocolate interspersed with cake. It was delicious and enough to split for the two of us. The coffee is always delicious, and only 4.00 for a latte! the first time we went we had a dough pastry filled with spinach and cheese. truly decadent. the seating is well spaced with a large television showing crisp beautiful pictures of pretty places. read more

I stopped in to see this new cafe and I am very impressed! I ordered a cup of coffee and a chocolate chip cookie. They have many pastries but I always start with a cookie.
