Good Points:
The food is always at least edible
The staff are friendly
It's so close to my house I could probably spit down the hill and hit the roof (I don't spit, so that's unlikely)
The prices are great.
Not so good points:
The food can range from good to not good at all depending on which kitchen staff are in on the day (I don't know anything about running a kitchen but consistency here would be an improvement).
The steaks can be pretty sub-standard depending which butcher the owner used that week (or at least that's what I hear).
Generally, pretty standard pub grub. The steak pie is awesome. The eating area is separate from the regular bar, although as they are joined by the bar itself, the noise can seep through so it can sound pretty rowdy at times. The bar staff and some of the kitchen staff double as waiting staff, they're all locals and a pretty chatty friendly bunch. I've had meals in much worse places. There's room for improvement but it does ok. read more
