Nice pub and restaurant with friendly staff and attentive service. Nice bar area and live music when we were there for dinner. The meat pie was loaded with chunks of tender beef and the pastry was great. Came out nice and hot. The veggies were prepared well.

Hawksmoor - Chicken and Sweet Potato

Our server explained how to the Sunday roast ordering worked. We watched the kitchen work, while we waited for our meals. Our Sunday roast meals came with medium rare beef roast, crispy on the outside and creamy soft inside potatoes, carrots, cabbage, a head of roasted garlic, a very large deeply browned Yorkshire pudding, and the most delicious gravy in a small pot. Every drop of that gravy was eaten. I think that the Yorkshire pudding exists to be a vehicle for the gravy. I really did not need any dessert after all that food. But we wanted to share an ice cream. We asked what was clotted cream ice cream. The server explained that the ice cream is made with clotted cream, which has a fat content of 60% and there's no other flavoring. It is not a common ice cream flavor. So that's what we had. The tiny beads of fat in the ice cream was very interesting. It had a sweet cream flavor. The ambiance was upscale with a lot of wood on the walls and furnishings. But at least on Sundays, we saw a lot of families and friend gatherings and did not seem exclusive.

Tried the ribeye steak -- perfectly cooked, flavorful, and exactly what I was hoping for. My wife really enjoyed her chicken and sweet potato as well. Overall, a great spot and worth the visit. It was…read morecompletely booked on our first night, so we tried again the next evening and were fortunate to snag an 8:30 p.m. reservation. Even after arriving, we still had a bit of a wait for our table, but we were able to order drinks from the bar while we waited. The atmosphere is what really makes this place special. The Wind in the Willows theme is charming and thoughtfully done, creating a cozy, beautiful space that feels uniquely Edinburgh. As for the food, it was good but not outstanding. Two of us ordered the chicken pies, one had the steak pie, and one had the macaroni and cheese. Everything was enjoyable enough, but nothing really stood out, especially considering the prices. Service was fine, though not particularly memorable. Overall, I would recommend Badger & Co. for the ambiance, decor, and experience rather than the food itself. It's a lovely place to stop for a meal or drinks and soak in the atmosphere, but the food and service didn't quite live up to the hype for us. 4/5 stars.

The Badgers Can't Swim was refreshing with notes of vanilla, lemon, and pomegranate, while the Bonnie Badger offered a delicious blend of coconut and lime. For lunch, we had the Fish & Chips and Steak & Peppercorn Pie. The fish was fresh with a perfectly crispy batter, and the chips were outstanding with a splash of vinegar and salt. The pie was hearty, flavorful, and packed with tender steak in a flaky pastry crust. A special shoutout to Logan, who did a fantastic job balancing both serving and bartending alongside another hardworking team member. Despite being busy, service remained friendly and attentive throughout our visit. Great food, creative cocktails, and excellent service made Badger & Co a memorable lunch stop in Edinburgh.
