I came by on a Tuesday night after work where they have late hours until 7pm! I was quickly greeted with a smile by a friendly older gentleman. He mentioned that they no longer have veterans reps here. It's awesome though that they have multiple computers out for everyone to use! You can even get an appointment set up to speak to someone 1 on 1 (which of course, I did). The full time staff are very friendly and open. It looks like I'll be around this way again soon~

When I first started looking for a job a year ago, I was trying to return to the work force after 11 years of hiatus from it. It wasn't easy, and I didn't know where to start. I reached out to JuicyBlue, and Brandon got in touch with me. He spoke with me at length about what I wanted to do and about my experience. I had never worked with an employment agency before and didn't know if I was supposed to pay him, so I asked him. He laughed and said that no, he doesn't take payments from job seekers. I may be misremembering, but I think he said that he gets his commissions from the companies after he places workers with them. Anyway, this kind man told me that even though he couldn't place me at that time, he would work with me to get me a job. He asked me to send him my resume. After reading it, he called me again and told me what I needed to change, to make my resume more accomplishment-based and less role-based. I didn't know it at the time, but my resume was very much in the 90s style(!) and he was bringing it up to the current standard. And he's just a nice guy, I really enjoyed talking to him. We spoke a couple more times, where I updated my resume and he gave me more feedback, and gave me some tips on interviews. Shortly after that, I applied to my current company (using the resume that Brandon helped me polish), and got the job of my dreams. I cannot thank Brandon enough for giving me hope and help during a pivotal part of my life. I hope more people are like him. I've heard horror stories of employment agencies using people and disappointing them. But Brandon is the real thing. He really wants to help, and he has helped me, without taking a cent from me.

The position was 3 weeks old at the time. I'd filled out their proprietary application process(as anyone should do first) and then called about the position. Now, having inquired about the position in question I was informed by more than one party within the office that it had not yet been filled. "Great"... or so I thought. The receptionist answering the phones(on my 3rd inquiry call) asked me if I'd filled-out their online application and if I were aware of their policies. Yes. I was told, and I do quote, "Okay Mr. "O" if we have anything that fits your expertise we will contact you." Okay, now hang on... Let me repeat the question and subsequent statement: Is "X" position still available? The answer was "yes". "Okay. Then I would like to apply to the "X" position that I am making reference to. Response: "Okay Mr. "O" if we have anything that fits your expertise we will contact you." "May I speak with a recruiter please?" I asked. Same answer. Bottom line: If I wanted to talk to an automated system I would NOT have called a human being. Nelson Staffing has the people skills of your average grocery store chain Wells Fargo branch teller. UPDATE 03/08/2012: Please read my review of Benchmark Staffing in Fremont, California, for a more defined description of complaint. Then read my review on Aerotek(staffing) in San Ramon to fully understand the elements that make-up a competent staffing agency.
