The last time I was looking for a job was about 8 years ago and I was shocked how much the "recruiting" market has changed. I put that in quotes because 90% of my calls were NOT actual recruiters. They were international email jocks who obviously had no idea about specifics of what I was looking for. I would get emails from 4 people at the same company within an hour of a new position opening up, each one wanting me to sign up with them for a 3 month contract on the other side of the country with no relocation or travel reimbursement. It did not take long for the "real recruiters to show their worth. I started only responding to people who were local and had an office I could actually walk into. In fact, I started to limit my search to staffing organizations that had a good reputation in the industry, and to be honest I had never heard of i-Tek Solutions. I was leery, but at least they had a physical office with actual people in it I could talk to. Turns out Cynthia did a fantastic job of staying in touch with me and eventually landed me the job I'd really been hoping for. Furthermore, because she took the time to get to know me, she only presented me with positions that I may actually be interested in instead of bombarding me with irrelevant jobs. When the offers came in, she was even willing to call me after normal business hours for things she knew I was waiting to hear on, while keeping business type calls to during the day. If a few days went by without hearing anything on a job, she would call me anyway just to update me. It was the perfect balance of communication. She ended up landing me a 2 1/2 year contract that has turned out to be fantastic. I love the team, love the company and love the project. Furthermore, 3 months into the contract and she regularly stays in touch, meets me for lunch and addresses any issues I may have. Paychecks are always on time, which may not sound like much but google some of the horror stories for the no-name recruiters and you'll understand. One note is that benefits are not fantastic. They offer medical, dental and vision, but the medical is limited to a very specific doctor network, which none of our regular doctors are in. As far as I can tell, none of the plans are subsidized by i-Tek either...you pay for all of it judging by the prices (which is normal in tech recruiting companies, so can't dock a star). We did opt in to the vision and dental, but hit the open market for medical. They don't offer extras like 401k, vacation, etc, which is also normal, but as of now they also don't even offer any online training course catalogs or the such, which is something you WILL find at some of the bigger companies. But the small size of i-Tek actually is turning out to be a very pleasant change as they do care very much about their contractors. Perhaps as they grow, the benefits will grow too. But I'm very happy and content and would encourage anyone to have no worry about their legitness. They are the real thing.

Then she told me who it was for and I was excited! Very excited! I interviewed a short time thereafter and was offered a contractor position at a rate much higher than what I was making previously. I accepted and started after all requested information was exchanged. Four months later I'm starting as a FT employee of the company and can't be happier about it! Kim was amazing to work with and was there with me every step of the way! Day or night I knew Kim was there to help me! It was a nice change from your average staffing agency. When I got there the office staff was extremely rude, then as I was filling out paperwork I was asked to sign a form giving them permission to deduct money from my first check to cover the cost of my background check!
