    Bougatsa Custard

I can't believe I hadn't been to Mano's Bakery Cafe sooner. I am always in Clearwater. This time, I finally decided to stop by. I wanted a bougatsa which I've also never had before. It's like a phyllo wrapped dessert with custard in the middle. It's a good size, maybe like a small wrapped burrito but not fully round since it's custard inside, and it cost btw $4-5 dollars. They say it's bomb here, and it was pretty good. Pretty happy I tried it! They also have other types of meat pies, and spinach pies, and pastries, and some desserts like the typical Greek Baklava. They have an array of sandwiches here as well. I like how there's another area with Greek Groceries, those are fun and cool to see the type of selection they have. They have a few outside tables with no shade, and a good amount of tables to sit inside. I'm glad I stopped in.

Well once again I visited this shop to pick up a few goodies before the start of Orthodox Lent. Lagana (Greek Lenten bread) as well some halva for myself...think nougat laced with cocoa here...and feta for my dear non Orthodox Queen Bee. Odd part about that: she fasts along with me for the most part, albeit not quite as strictly. Anyway: the counter girl was friendly as is most of the staff in there. Mr Kranias himself was way in the back by the ovens chatting away in Greek to his Hellenic confrere. One thing I noticed is that as his shop has gotten bigger and busier over the several years I've gone there...I see him less and less in the front and haven't spoken with him in kind of awhile. Anyway: once Greek Easter finally comes and goes I'll likely be back for my regular nomnom noshes in the near future...stuff like kreatopita, tiropita, galaktoboureko and maybe koulouria (Greek bagels) too. It's nice to see they've started offering more grocery type items (candy and sweets, for example) as well as their usual baked goods and lunch fare. Most of it is Greek, which is fine by me...so am I, as it turned out.

Home for the holidays and Manos was a necessary stop. It's been since time since I've been in and was pleasantly surprised with the expansion. Lots more room for the excellent pastries and baked goods that I've come to expect. Excellent service and food as always.

This place can't decide whether it's a tea room, Café, bakery, or a lunch spot! But it's all good! For $13 and some change I got fries, 2 pieces of bread, a gyro sandwich, a generous supply of tzatziki sauce, and a Greek salad! Sorry, no pictures of the bread or fries, I ate them while driving. This is a much better deal than the last gyro place I visited in Seminole. 3 cheers for family owned businesses!

    Gyro Bowl

Stopped by for lunch while in Tampa. Great spot! We sampled a Greek custard pastry... and then bought one for the road after we ate. I had the gyro "bowl". It had a very generous serving of gyro meat and was served over a bed of delicious rice. My wife had a Turkey, Bacon, and Avocado Wrap. It would be nice if they had iced drinks, instead of canned or bottled drinks. Overall, it was a great experience with great food.

    a sandwich and a salad

Delicious authentic Greek food and pastries. They had a gyros burrito with a homemade jalapeño feta spread and lightly toasted the burrito. Delicious! Family-owned with great service.

I have yet to have a bad meal here. The Greek salad is amazing, (add chicken) and there is no where better to go for breakfast!

Wow!!! I'm so excited to find this wonderful French bakery in Indian Rocks!…read more We went in for chocolate croissants, and discovered that and so much more. In addition to pastries, they have cookies, macaroons, quiches, crepes, breakfast sandwiches, beverages, and more. You can dine there or take away. Parking can be tough, but there are some free spots in front and alongside. If you are studying nearby and can walk there, that's what I would suggest. They have an efficient service process where you order the counter. The place feels both beachy and French. Such a wonderful find!

Well third time wasn't the charm. We tried 2 times driving from Tampa. First time it was closed and…read moresecond they were closing early and stop serving. It wasn't bad but also disappointingly not great food wise. Service was pleasant and they brought items out quickly since it wasn't real busy on a Saturday lunchtime. Parking up front was easy. Staff was nice and friendly. Order at the counter and they bring it to your table. Quiche with bacon mushrooms was just ok. Lacked seasoning, richness and depth of flavor. Not bad but not great. The pressed pâté panini with cornichons had a crunch and iceberg lettuce. The croissants missed the laminated butter pastry taste and flakiness. The raspberry beignet wasn't overly sweet but tasted more bready than donut beignet. After that, we still ordered a lemon sugar crepe that missed the mark. It leaned more savory undertones without the lightness, tart and sweetness. More meh. I tried adding more sugar. Was it the lemon in the jar instead of fresh squeezed? The batter? The whipped cream didn't help. Oh well, we tried. All in all folks seem to like it, but I wouldn't really say it's a Parisian cafe or a patisserie that I'd make a long drive. If you haven't had a great French bakery or staying in Pinellas or just want some for the beach, it's great. We were disappointed by expecting more than it was. Unfortunately.
