This is a wonderful large sandy beach, absolutely unspoilt and perfect for a day out, especially in good weather. It's about a five minute walk from the car park and this path is wheelchair friendly too.
There is a long grassy headland on either side of the beach and rocky cliff paths to explore. In fact, if you take the east one it will take you eight miles or so around to Tenby; great for hardened hikers - I only walked a small fraction of that route the other day! A short way along the cliff path on the same headland is a fascinating Neolithic burial chamber.
The beach is overlooked by a large medieval castle which was the birthplace of Gerald of Wales.
The whole area is great for walking or just sitting on the soft sand to hear the sea - which is apparently great for surfing too, so I'm told!
The most amazing thing about this beach is the fact that it is seldom crowded even in good weather. Please see my photos which were taken last week on a gorgeous warm and sunny day at the end of June - there were only a handful of people there! read more
