Disappointed with range of animals on show, and mixed feelings about the place itself. I first went many years ago when it could be said it was in it's prime and it's now abit of a pale shadow of it's former self. I don't know what it was like when Ann Ryder Richardson took over and I wish her well with her efforts, but she has her work cutout to turn this place around. I hope the TV coverage will encourage visitors, but there needs to be clearer information about the animals on show. Currently they have a Rhino shelter, but no Rhinos, however, listening to visitors who asking where they were, illustrates that this wasn't made clear and visitors expectations were dashed. The map given on entry also showed there to be Flamingos, whereas all we actually had was an empty pool, no Flamingoes. On the positive side I enjoyed the Lemur section, that is the type of attraction needed, something unique that other zoos don't have and people will tell their friends and relatives to go and visit. If you are local the season ticket price, equal to two normal visits, is a bargain but I wouldn't really plan on an visit lasting more than a couple of hours. Overall a bit of a Curates egg, good in parts. read more
