If you park at Whitesands Beach (which is about £4-5), you can take the path from the parking lot. It's a little bit of an incline but listed as a grade 1 walk (the easiest). I am not someone who regularly hikes, but had no difficulties, even though it was slightly rocky or muddy in places. You can easily just go 1/2-1 mile for beautiful photo ops and then turn back (if wanting something easier), or you can do the fuller 3-3.5 mile walk. There are toilets (for £0.20) and a snack shop at Whitesands Beach, which is also nice. Highly recommend if you want an easy foray to see the beautiful Welsh coast.

Barafundle Beach is, for me, the best beach in Wales - And I'm not the only one who thinks it's…read moreamazing - It was voted by the Times and the Good Holiday Guide as one of the top 10 beaches in the whole world. Barafundle is a sandy beach, surrounded by limestone cliffs - you therefore have to be prepared for a bit of a hike along the cliffs to get to the beach (about 1K) - not a difficult walk, but steep steps at both ends. You can park in the National Trust car park for a few quid. This whole estate (Stackpole) is National Trust, and therefore beautifully preserved - This obviously limits facilities. There are tea rooms in the car parks near the beach - but no facilities at all once you walk there. This is to the great benefit of the beach - it is truly natural and wonderful. The 'desert island' experience is well worth the walk. The water quality is fantastic - it is crystal clear. There are no rocks or dangerous currents - so bathing is very safe - Although you must be careful because there is no lifeguard cover here. Swimming is prohibited however because of the tides and mud flats. There is an official car park and also another gravelly and grassy area where one can park for no charge. Besides the main car park are toilets and a shop and cafe. Overlooking the beach is the huge ruin of Llansteffan Castle, also well worth a visit.

Aberdyfi is the quintessence of everything that can remain right with a British seaside town. From its multicoloured but not garish main street to its beautiful white sand dunes, Aberdyfi (pronounced Aber-dovey) is always Aber-lovely. There are watersports to get into, and the jet skis do tend to spoil the serenity at times, but these are small things when you take in the surroundings, which are very relaxing. Good for families, too you can still take a donkey ride during summer, but this tends to be less candyfloss commercialism than a little break from lounging around or swimming in the clean, cool waters. Alternatively, take a walk all along the beach to Tywyn and back. You'll like it.

Then you see the sandy bay below, carved out of the hillside and framed by massive steep hills on either side, focussing into the distant sea horizon - spectacular. There's a little hut at the top selling beachy stuff and ice creams and things, along with toilets facilities. The steep steps to the beach are a bit daunting but didn't seem to stop anyone - in fact the beach was packed (this was summer time - just ignore the date of this review) but this didn't spoil it - a great holiday spot for all. Some of the breakers were a bit rough on the day, but these will vary. Excellent place, well worth the effort to find and get to.

This is a wonderful large sandy beach, absolutely unspoilt and perfect for a day out, especially in…read moregood weather. It's about a five minute walk from the car park and this path is wheelchair friendly too. There is a long grassy headland on either side of the beach and rocky cliff paths to explore. In fact, if you take the east one it will take you eight miles or so around to Tenby; great for hardened hikers - I only walked a small fraction of that route the other day! A short way along the cliff path on the same headland is a fascinating Neolithic burial chamber. The beach is overlooked by a large medieval castle which was the birthplace of Gerald of Wales. The whole area is great for walking or just sitting on the soft sand to hear the sea - which is apparently great for surfing too, so I'm told! The most amazing thing about this beach is the fact that it is seldom crowded even in good weather.
