VERY RUDE OF THE WAITRESS & POOR QUALITY OF FOODS. DO NOT WASTE THE $$$ TO EAT HERE!!!!!…read more Oct 12, 2025 - I ordered the battered fish and chips from the lunch menu; my friends and I agreed that the portion of the fillet is very small and quite fishy (not fresh); about my own order, I substituted the chips with "vegetable" but the restaurant was only gave the carrots. At $25.99 plus tips and taxes so it costs over $30 it's overpriced for junk foods The services were terrible as one of the waitress, the chubby one was very rude when I told her that she messed up my order. It's no apology for the mistakes she made and yelled at me for not paying attention when I ordered my foods. It seems she was trying to excuse the situation she caused. Meanwhile, this waitress was questioning me in front of other customers and very confrontational. I addressed my concerns to her it's UNACCEPTABLE ATTITUDE to the customers. The owner should not hire this type of people as the front end worker. I did report the situation to another person who was working at the cashier area. I hope the owner should investigate this situation at least .... AWFUL EXPERIENCE I NEVER EVEN HAD

When I brought it back, the owner was defensive and offered to reheat it rather than address the issue properly. I did receive a refund for the food. The straightforward name of this inn says it all: it strips away all the distractions to focus you on how peaceful and beautiful this town is. Rooms: There are 10 rooms in this 2 storey inn (5 on each floor). The rooms are clean and immaculately designed (great local art). The beds are really comfortable, with plump comforters and fluffy pillows. The bathroom is modern, with good water pressure. The room is also well furnished, with a tv, mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave, and toaster oven. Wifi is strong enough, which is an essential since phone signal on the island isn't always the best. Oh, and my wife lived in the bathrobe they provided the whole time we were there since she said it was spa-like haha! Finally, whichever room you book has a view of the water, which allows you to watch the sunset from the comforts of your bed. Second floor rooms give you a further view of the harbour and town from the balcony, while first floor rooms allow you to walk out to the edge of the water. Either way, the rooms at the Inn at Gore Bay are a definite winner! "Amenities": There's a restaurant right by the inn called 1890. It's helmed by chef Alberto, who studied at the George Brown culinary school, and it shows as his dishes are really tasty (albeit a bit pricey). Other than the restaurant, there's a good hiking trail a couple of minutes away, which leads you to the main lookout point in the whole Gore Bay (East Bluff Lookout). There aren't other amenities like gyms and pools and all that, but you really don't need those because of all the natural surroundings and activities you can do. I came here during fall, so not sure if they offer summer/winter activities. Location: As mentioned, located right at the edge of the harbour/lake, so that in itself is fantastic. It's also steps away from a beautiful boardwalk that leads you to a park (fully equipped with a children's playground, basketball and tennis courts). Finally, it's also a 5 minute walk away from the main street of Gore Bay which has cute little shops, restaurants, a grocery, bank, library, etc. Service: Tammy and her team are top notch. During the time of covid, they provided seamless service to ensure our safety (self check-in/out, basic cleaning like changing of towels/sheets as requested and taking out the trash to minimize contact, delivering the complimentary breakfast the night before, etc). Tammy was also very quick to respond via text to any questions/concerns that we had. And the one time we did actually see her in person, she was friendly, had such a great energy, and clearly loved the island. Overall: Highly recommend staying here if you visit Manitoulin. It will definitely make you fall in love with the island and the friendly people in it.

Gore Bay is absolutely charming in the fall. Warm and quick service by Tammy and team from check-in, dinner reservation and coordinating contact less breakfast and room supplies. I appreciated all there efforts to make us as comfortable and safe during covid pandemic. Room was well stocked with supplies and amenities. Very thoughtfully renovated and has touches of local art. Had my best night sleep in ages as bedding was so comfortable. Loved the linens and bathrobe from local store Linen and Lavander. Had 2 dinner reservations at 1890 Restaurant. Enjoyed the menu choices presented by Alberto. Alberto and Tammy certainly know how to manage a boutique hotel and restaurant! (will post my restaurant review separately) Manitoulin Island was magical and a lot of best impressions were of Inn at Gore Bay. Planning to return next summer! Highly recommended

We had a couple of local craft beers to start from the Split Rail Brewery. I had a lager and my wife had the Hawberry Ale which is brewed from locally picked Hawe berries. She had the chicken Caesar wrap and enjoyed it. I had the beef fajitas which were hot and tasty and nicely spiced. There are not many restaurants still open on the island we found as it seems Covid lockdowns etc have sent some business into receivership and others just haven't reopened. It is where I learned to put vinegar on my French fries, where I learned how to play plinko, and where I learned the importance of finding a place to escape to when done with a day with the family. Right on the corner in down town, little current is such a great place. Not really a tourist town, but a great small town. And this place, with its decent door, and large windows over looking the street is the place where all of the cross sections of the town come together. I will admit to this being my favorite diner in the world. I love this place, and am biased because of all the times I have been here throughout my life, but I insist you go. Have the fries and vinegar, and a coke. Just sit back relax, and watch a very simple world slowly move past.
