Thanks to Jenn who helped us get a great place to stay and also gave us so many wonderful ideas to spend our time there. She got us to the right place for the boat trip to the Flowerpot Island. Her suggestions helped make our time there a real experience! Viviana and Marisa made our check in and out easy. They spent time talking and laughing with us. We know why people come back here time after time! Great personnel in housekeeping too! Don't miss this place! It's a real winner! Can't wait to feel the homey feeling and enjoy the quiet again. I don't think we ever stopped smiling! We celebrated our 40th anniversary there and will never forget it! Patty C.

We met a very friendly young person at the kayak/canoe rental area that was super stocked to chat about the area and things to do. You can rent a canoe or kayak then paddle over the ship wrecks!! how amazing is that? We loved the fact that this hotel/resort was located near the light house and that it was kind of quiet and private from the rest of Tobermory. We enjoyed watching boats coming and going and the sunset. Only down fall, small bathroom. If you are super tall.. just duck :) But its all good.

But perhaps it was good to disconnect from the world. This was perhaps half a kilometer away from the tip of Bruce peninsula and an Easy walking distance to Bruce trail (10min walk to the start of the trail), or if you want to go see shipwrecks also 10mins from glass bottom ship dock sites. Food was easily accessible from this location as well. Basically everything was walking distance. Facilities were brand new and clean. The bathroom was spacious. There is a Fridge, a coffee maker and a microwave!!! Bed was the perfect firmness. The pillows were incredible. The comforter was perfectly insulated. It was 40s outside and we never needed to turn on the heater. The entire place was well insulated. The TV had google, Netflix, and Hulu. But we couldn't enjoy bc of the shoddy WiFi. ....I think that's all of Canada tho this wasn't the first place where we had a hard time with WiFi. Also a nice balcony when weather permitted. Had two chairs to sit and watch the Bruce peninsula in the distance. Ample parking. I did not want to leave this place. So comforting coming back from a long hike to a place like this.

The straightforward name of this inn says it all: it strips away all the distractions to focus you on how peaceful and beautiful this town is. Rooms: There are 10 rooms in this 2 storey inn (5 on each floor). The rooms are clean and immaculately designed (great local art). The beds are really comfortable, with plump comforters and fluffy pillows. The bathroom is modern, with good water pressure. The room is also well furnished, with a tv, mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave, and toaster oven. Wifi is strong enough, which is an essential since phone signal on the island isn't always the best. Oh, and my wife lived in the bathrobe they provided the whole time we were there since she said it was spa-like haha! Finally, whichever room you book has a view of the water, which allows you to watch the sunset from the comforts of your bed. Second floor rooms give you a further view of the harbour and town from the balcony, while first floor rooms allow you to walk out to the edge of the water. Either way, the rooms at the Inn at Gore Bay are a definite winner! "Amenities": There's a restaurant right by the inn called 1890. It's helmed by chef Alberto, who studied at the George Brown culinary school, and it shows as his dishes are really tasty (albeit a bit pricey). Other than the restaurant, there's a good hiking trail a couple of minutes away, which leads you to the main lookout point in the whole Gore Bay (East Bluff Lookout). There aren't other amenities like gyms and pools and all that, but you really don't need those because of all the natural surroundings and activities you can do. I came here during fall, so not sure if they offer summer/winter activities. Location: As mentioned, located right at the edge of the harbour/lake, so that in itself is fantastic. It's also steps away from a beautiful boardwalk that leads you to a park (fully equipped with a children's playground, basketball and tennis courts). Finally, it's also a 5 minute walk away from the main street of Gore Bay which has cute little shops, restaurants, a grocery, bank, library, etc. Service: Tammy and her team are top notch. During the time of covid, they provided seamless service to ensure our safety (self check-in/out, basic cleaning like changing of towels/sheets as requested and taking out the trash to minimize contact, delivering the complimentary breakfast the night before, etc). Tammy was also very quick to respond via text to any questions/concerns that we had. And the one time we did actually see her in person, she was friendly, had such a great energy, and clearly loved the island. Overall: Highly recommend staying here if you visit Manitoulin. It will definitely make you fall in love with the island and the friendly people in it.

Gore Bay is absolutely charming in the fall. Warm and quick service by Tammy and team from check-in, dinner reservation and coordinating contact less breakfast and room supplies. I appreciated all there efforts to make us as comfortable and safe during covid pandemic. Room was well stocked with supplies and amenities. Very thoughtfully renovated and has touches of local art. Had my best night sleep in ages as bedding was so comfortable. Loved the linens and bathrobe from local store Linen and Lavander. Had 2 dinner reservations at 1890 Restaurant. Enjoyed the menu choices presented by Alberto. Alberto and Tammy certainly know how to manage a boutique hotel and restaurant! (will post my restaurant review separately) Manitoulin Island was magical and a lot of best impressions were of Inn at Gore Bay. Planning to return next summer! Highly recommended

Very helpful and gave me a map and went through a few places to go to because it was my first time visiting. We got the cottage bunkie - cabin 8 which is a double bed. It is just enough room to walk around the bed to the bathroom. This is the basics, bed bar fridge a 12 inch tv and bathroom. They give you a bbq outside along with toilet paper soap and hand soap. There is also a fan which helps with circulation within the room. The sheets looked clean but we brought our own bedding. This is a self cleaning cottage so they expect you to leave it as you find it! I thought it was fine for sleeping, the bed was comfortable. No intentions to hang out in the room so the bare minimum did not bother us. The internet is slow but worked ok for surfing web. Not sure about speed for streaming vids tho - I would assume very slow. The location is very close to the main strip. The guy who checked us in said if we wanted any boat tours book right away! After unpacking we went across the street to buy our tickets to flowerpot island. Luckily we followed the concierges prompt to buy tickets early because the Saturday tickets were almost sold out and it was 3pm Friday! Next door there is a kayak rental shop! On the main strip there is an over priced grocery store (way to monopolize) At nights there are Mosquitos because the cabins are surrounded by trees. Don't go unarmed!! There is a no noise rule after 10am and check out is 10:30am. I would also recommend to the owners a vending machine for the site too! Again, much better than anticipated. Since I did not stay in the room other than sleeping, this place was perfect. I can see how some can get annoyed by noise as you can hear people talking even in the outside cabins but again. It is what you make of it! Would I stay here again though? Unsure

At check-in, I wanted to ask for restaurant recommendations and things to do in the area. However, the employee checking us in seemed to be in a hurry and told us to check out Trip Advisor for restaurants. We were informed of the patios and BBQs available for all guests to use. The other employee that we encountered was much friendlier. The office is open 24/7 and has Keurig, hot water, mugs, a microwave, an ice maker, and buckets for ice. Our room was on the second level and had a lovely view of the water. It was a spacious room with a connecting door in the wardrobe area. The downside to having a connecting door when we don't need it is that soundproofing isn't as good. We could hear conversations in the next room, especially when a baby started crying at 4 a.m. The bed was comfortable; the larger of the two windows had blackout curtains wrapped around the sides; a mini fridge and power bar with USB outlets in the wardrobe area; power outlets located around the room; and a few cushy chairs placed around the room. What I noticed later was that the room did not have a clock or a telephone. I suppose everyone has a cellphone, so those are not necessary. In terms of bathroom amenities, there is a soap dispenser on the sink, and body wash and shampoo are in dispensers on the shower wall. Restaurants, ferry docks, Bruce Peninsula National Park, and Fathom Five National Marine Park Visitor Centre are about a 10-minute walk away.

Very clean and nicely decorated. The blanket even have boat patterns. You get a/c, shower, sink outside the toilet, and if you need a fridge, there's a shared one in the check in room. Note: none of the rooms have the water views; the rows are facing the road. You get a bit of water view sitting on the patio.
