Manita Rosedale is their second location in Toronto (the first along the Ossington Strip near Dundas). Recently opened last week on Thurs, this bustling cafe, grocery store, and bar has something for everyone. They took over and renovated the space of The Rosedale Diner. I've been to Manita's first location many times for breakfast and dinner and I was excited that they were opening up closer to home for me. Reservations can be made online through Resy and recommended (especially on the weekends and brunch) as this new location definitely will be a hit. I dined at Manita recently on a Sunday night for dinner where I made reservations in advanced. Not sure what to expect or if they would offer the same menu as their Ossington location, I was pleasantly surprised. The customer base of the Rosedale location is older, more family oriented and more established. This is reflected in the neighbourhood that they are in but everyone was all smiles as they checked out the new Manita. The vibes are the same as the first location, casual and laid-back, a place where you can grab a coffee and snacks during the day, a glass of wine in the afternoon, or have a full out meal for dinner. In regards to our dinner, service was friendly and pleasant without feeling rushed. The pace of the meal was great as we enjoyed ourselves. Menu wise (for dinner), there are the Manita staples (like the oxtail marmalade, burger/veggie burger, falafel plate, Mediterranean plate, etc.) but there were different items as well. We ordered the following items: - Curry mussels (vadouvan cream curry sauce, PEI mussels, chili, herbs, scallion, fries) - Oxtail marmalade (braised oxtail, raisins, walnuts, dijon, griddled bread) - Porcini tomato bucatini (parmesan, herbs, house chilis) - Manita burger (beef and bacon patty, American cheese, onion, pickles) - Glass of Pinot Grigio - Barbet The oxtail marmalade was as delicious as always! The nice tender oxtail with the raisins work well together with the dijon mustard. The perfectly griddled bread is the ideal vessel to hold everything together for some tasty bites of food. The mussels were great as well - plump PEI mussels in that vadouvan cream curry sauce...yum! The sauce had the right amount of thickness to cling onto the mussels and fries where the hint of the lime really came through to elevate the sauce. We really enjoyed those mussels. In terms of main, the Manita burger is a classic. The patty is cooked to medium and it comes with a large portion of fries on the side as well (you can opt for salad if you don't want fries). The fries also come with an aioli for dipping. The bucatini is a vegetarian dish but the pasta was cooked el dente and each bite was delicious. The tomato sauce it came with was perfectly balanced in flavours and I was also given their house chilis on the side to add to my pasta. Great delicious dish. We were both too full for dessert but I highly recommend the basque cheesecake! Overall, great new location of Manita along Yonge. This location will definitely do well in this neigbourhood - it was busy the night we dined there and I can tell that people were excited for them to open. Delicious food and great service as always. Can't wait to return for more!

Really good but expensive. Really nice staff and the food was great. A worthy successor to the Rosedale Diner.

Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5…read moreAmbiance: 4/5 Food: We had our office holiday dinner here and 15 people attended. We did a set menu which had 3 courses. The first course was Labneh with bread, hummus, & beef tartare. Second course was Lamb pide & pear salad. Third course was grilled branzino, middle eastern fried chicken, black truffle rice, and thrice cooked fries. Then there was dessert which was chocolate mousse cake & baklava. Because of my many food allergies the main server for our table was very attentive & specific in asking me what I wanted as modifications. For example I got a wagyu beef pide instead of the lamb. Every dish was really delicious, presented well & quite filling. I couldn't eat all of the food. Though I tried almost everything. Service: The pacing of the dishes was quite masterful. They really paid attention to when the food was going to come out. As I mentioned above the main server was very attentive to my food allergies. I really appreciated that as some restaurants aren't as attentive. The food was served family style so everyone could take what they wanted from the serving dishes. The dishes were served in little bowls along the tables with each bowl serving about 4 people. We had asked for one long table so it was a little snug. But we made it work. Ambiance: For dinner the lighting of the space is really dim. LOL. I would have appreciated just a little bit more light. The restaurant is in an old building so to use the washroom you had to go down two flights of stairs. The dining area is small also. But it's a pretty space. As mentioned above we asked for one long table to seat 15 people. I was expecting square tables but it was a bunch of small round tables pushed together. So the tables were really crowded with food from all the dishes. But the servers made sure to take empty serving dishes away as soon as possible. The music was a little loud for me so I had to yell to be heard. The place was packed though. Everyone at our table enjoyed the food, the service & atmosphere. The restaurant is close to Roy Thompson Hall & the other theatres nearby so it's a convenient location as well. It's too bad this place is only open for dinner. I would have loved to see how they would operate a lunch time service. In any case, Byblos was amazing. I would come back here again to try other dishes! Note: Some of my pics of the main dishes didn't turn out so it's mostly desserts that are pictures

Some reviewers complained about the loudness, but, compared to many other downtown locations, Landwers was a medium level of noise, and we were able to converse. It was not excessively busy, but if you are set on eating here, then make a reservation. I finally tried the Sinia Kebab, and it was tremendously good! It was also huge, and I had to take half of it home with me. The focaccia bread is excellent, and serves as a sort of bowl for this deconstructed kebab. My husband had his usual Cobb Salad, which he thinks is particularly well done at Landwer's. Our other dining companion had schnitzel, which came with some angel hair pasta. He enjoyed it very much. Service is, as I said above, "relaxed". If you are planning to see a concert or show afterwards, then plan ample time to allow the relaxed service to unfold (a.k.a this is not fast food!!) We had a 6:00 reservation, and we were able to make our 7:30 concert time with about 10 minutes to spare. The University location is conveniently located near Thompson Hall, the subway, and Union Station (Via Rail and Go).

The open fish market adds to the experience, and the drink selection is solid. Parking isn't the easiest (expect nearby office garages) but if you're there for a weekday dinner, they offer complimentary valet at the St. Regis, which helps. Service 5/5 Top tier. Staff are polished, attentive, and actually know the menu. Recommendations were on point, and everything felt seamless without being overbearing. It's the details that make it stand out, the attention to detail and the care when serving and presenting the food. Food 4.5/5 Went with the lunch menu (great value with an appetizer and main). Quality is consistent with what you'd expect from Milos: fresh, simple, and done properly. They're also mindful of time; if you mention you're on a tight schedule, they can accommodate a one-hour lunch without making it feel rushed. Had the salmon along with salmon tartare and the octopus. Good variety for the prix fixe lunch menu too. So far the best salmon tartare I've had in city.

If you're pressed for time, just let them know when you order - they'll plan to have you out within the hour, or they pick up the tab. I, on the other hand, was in no rush. The staff read the room, paced the meal accordingly, and let us linger comfortably. With four starters and eight mains to choose from (three with supplements), there's plenty of variety, though seafood clearly takes centre stage. I leaned fully into the sea and wasn't disappointed. The salmon tartare was surprisingly, with large chunks of fresh salmon tossed with herbs and finely minced red pepper, giving the dish a bright, meaty freshness. In the dead of winter, that first bite genuinely felt like sunshine - apologies for getting philosophical, but it really hit home. While crostini were scarce, every table receives a basket of freshly grilled bread and a wasteful pour of olive oil. Carb lovers don't worry, there's plenty to scoop up that tartare. The whole dorade royal grilled might sound exotic, but you've likely seen it elsewhere under its more familiar name: sea bream. At Milos, it arrives deboned and finished simply with olive oil, herbs, and capers. That said, if you're squeamish about bones, proceed with caution as the deboning accuracy seems to vary. My plate had only a couple stragglers, while my dining companion's fish had several lingering behind. The dish is simple, clean, and ideal for lunch, so it satisfies without tipping you into post-meal drowsiness. The steamed vegetables were overcooked, though that may appeal to those who prefer their cruciferous vegetables soft rather than crunchy. For anyone who wants to channel a bit of Don Draper energy without returning to work tipsy, Milos' 3oz lunch pours are a great idea. And if you decide to lean in just a little more, they can easily be doubled into a proper glass.

Honestly, I'm impressed every time I visit. Aside from the speed, price also plays a role. I generally settle on the beef and chicken mixed plate, and considering the price I find this combo hard to beat elsewhere. As far as quality goes, the food is great but it is fast food, so don't expect a Michelin-star restaurant. It was probably about 15 minutes between the time I ordered and when I got the food, so this is clearly not the place to go if you're in a rush. But I'd say the food was worth the wait. That cheese crust is the obvious star of the show here, while the fresh, soft bread is also quite delicious. The other components are tasty too, but the patty itself is the weakest link. It didn't have any kind of crust and just seemed a little on the bland side. But that's a minor complaint for a rather decadent lunch that I quite enjoyed eating.

Unfortunately, they don't allow you to switch your carbs to a salad, thus forcing you to pay an additional $3, for a salad and yogurt. That works out to be almost $20 with a soda... a bit pricey given this is more of a take-out fast food joint. The food is alright. Pretty average, typical Persian food.
