This place is great for a quick filipino food fix. The location is really good, with lots of parking since it's in a plaza. The restaurant itself is very simple, medium sized with lots of tables. The food is out on display, cafeteria style, and they always have a fairly good variety. What compelled me to write this review is that this is one of the very few places that cooks their menudo with hot dogs. So hard to find but I can always count on this place to have it! Not wanting to go to Serramonte Shopping Center we ended up here for a late lunch and the place was packed. Lots of people getting late lunch and Halo Halo. There was little food left and almost all the tables were either occupied or full of dirty plates. The food was okay but not great. There were few choices left as it looked like they needed to replenish stat! The only redeeming factor was that they don't use MSG and there was an abundance of parking. We ordered tocino, longonisa and chicken adobo. Two 2-items lunch plates were enough to feed two adults and two kids. I was on my way to get a haircut over on School Street. So I decided to get lost in the area and find something to eat. I didnt find anything that interested me and I saw this joint. I stood there waiting for someone to show up and no one showed up for 1-2 minutes that was okay. I was wearing a white shirt when i brushed up against the counter i had a long line of greace on my shirt the person serving me asks "what happened to your shirt" i said "this counter is dirty." he went right back in the kitchen not cleaning up the spills. The counter had spills from all kinds of food they had on that steam table. He serves me my food which was bestek and tocino which was cold since it was sitting there and he got me the stuff off the top. The decor is great. Food not so great except the rice being real soft. There was a Filipino couple that thought i worked there because i was in a plain white haynes t-shirt. they asked me for a togo box and bag. They were arguing and speaking in tagalog, the wife saying i do work there and the husband saying i dont. This is the reason why this place is getting the 1 star also because of the rice. read more

Nice low-key establishment to fulfill your native Filipino food cravings (desserts too!), located at the Metro Center in Colma. I haven't been too impressed with the dishes, thus far, but I think it's great that they have a presence here, since the only other dining areas in this mall are Burger King, Quizno's, Honey Baked Ham, and the Barnes & Noble Cafe. I go out of my way to come here because they sell Mitchell's Ice Cream by the scoop! It's $2.50 for the scoop, but it beats a drive into the city when I don't have the time and it's better than spending about $7 more for a whole 1/2 gallon of Mitchell's Ice Cream that I really don't need (well, sometimes I feel like I need it, but I really 'shouldn't' have it!). I ordered shanghai for one of my wedding appetizers a few years back and they were gone in minutes. My aunt orders food here for her annual Christmas Eve party every year and we always want more. They're not bad here. Food could definitely be a little more on the fresh side but I don't mind coming here to eat when I'm starving shopping at Metro Mall. A little on the pricier end for such small portions. Restaurant is clean, but it is really a eat and go kind of place. No interaction with staff and customers, just eat.. and go. In all actuality, I don't feel like this place is necessarily 2 stars, but I'm only giving it two in comparison to some other Filipino restaurants I've been to. Went here 4 separate times in 4 months before I decided to write this review. The Diniguan - is what they call pork in its own blood. They added Ginger here and it was totally off-putting. Tried the bistek tagalog. It's beef steak with grilled onions, soy sauce, lemon juice, but the meat was touch. I tried their mechado, - Stew of beef, carrots, onions, potatoes...meat was tough.. When you step in, there is an array of desserts, Buko pie (coconut pie), filipino style pudding, ube pudding, and there was some mold on two of the desserts of which I picked up and handed to them. They didn't seem fazed and threw it away without an apology. If they don't check for quality, this is the reason their food tastes the way it is. read more

The people that work here are very nice and accommodating. I ordered the fried bangus and instead of giving me what was in the case, they cooked a fresh one for me. That's good service. The food is down home good. The Mitchell's ube ice cream is so very good. The pancit, however, was very oily. So my brother-in-law told me this place has some good deserts. I came out here looking for halo halo and found a Filipino style Panda Express. All I wanted was desert so i had a halo halo and some deep fried rice balls. Everything was tasty and they do use Mitchell's ice cream for their halo halo. Prices were alright but wasn't cheap. The rest of the food is precooked and it reminded me of the school lunch line except the food here was all Filipino food. I always knew its existence, but have never eaten at this place until yesterday when a friend from another country invited me to give it a try. We were 4th in line and had an ample time to witness and observed the female server's attitude (skinny ponytailed with glasses), she was sloppy, mad and with an angry frowned face. Never made an eye contact with anyone nor had the ability to be pleasant, she was just purely lacking the capacity of being nice which is a given and expected from any food server specially in the kind of business she works at. When it was our turn to be served she was EXTREMELY RUDE in asking us what we wanted with an angry tone, I decided to let it go because I did not want her to be the spoiler of my day or my experience there. My friend paid for our meal and also gave a generous amount of tip considering this is a fast food place. I don't know if we just made the wrong choice of dishes but considering we have picked what we thought looked appetizing and craved for which were pork adobo ribs, chicken with potato and tomato sauce and some type of beef soup. It was with so much regret that we have ever gone to this mediocre place to waste money on awful dishes much less of the servers' rudeness, the dishes were bland with the exception of the pork adobo which had an average taste, Idk maybe it was not adobo although it had a sauce similar with the color used on adobos and unlike other pork adobos I tried from other places this one is the worse, it had a weird taste that was kind of sweet and sour which is the main reason of me being forced in writing this review. We decided to take it home for someone who may appreciate it more than we do, I went back and politely asked for a container and now the angry frowned turned resting faced woman reached for the smallest styrofoam cup which could barely accommodate just the adobo sauce itself. I went back and asked for a bigger one and she rudely yelled "IT'S .25C!!!" in the face of everyone waiting in line, I was shocked with her unnecessary loudness and I said "really." Another woman came and yelled in her defense, "IT'S TRUE IT'S .25C", I gave the .25c, but both of their whole attitude transpired me to say how I felt. I said ".25c is not a big deal it's is your attitude about it that sucks," and since she looks a little bit more presentable thinking she's the owner I also pointed out to her that the other woman has been extremely rude since the beginning and that her attitude sucks, but boy I was wrong, in turn she also started to argue by rudely yelling, "YOU KNOW WHAT!!!'. I immediately walked away from their ugly faces and we left with a bad and sour taste in our mouths. My friend witnessed the whole scene and I am so ashamed of how these people poorly treat a customer with the way they acted and now I am imploring him to dispute the tip he gave and have it reversed on his CCard as these people are not deserving of anything for their bloody attitude in the eatery business. The .25c cup vs. 20x of it for the tip my friend gave, go figure. For me the ONE STAR on this review represents a ZERO STAR. I just read their website's homepage after posting my review, HOSPITABLE and AMIABLE are FALSE words they used in their introduction and are MEANINGLESS to them based on the experience that we have gone through with them. We went here for lunch and were so disappointed. First, I ordered the fried fish and they microwaved it before handing it to me. The fish had no flavor at all it was obvious that it hasn't been seasoned. My fiancee ordered beef and it was pretty salty. The pork lumpia (eggrolls) were good but that was the only thing that tasted ok. We will not be coming back. The worst filipino restaurant I've visited by far. 2 items for $8.99 tax included is not worth that much in quality and definitely not worth the quantity. Ordered mechado and the server attentively pick the amount of meat and then fill the rest with vegetable and sauce. The amount of meat is only about 1 1/2 worth of bite. Also ordered pinakbet and the serving was a little bit more but not more than 2 bites. The mechado meat was tough to bite on and the sauce was too watery. They use the smallest ice cream scooper for the rice. Maybe its good for kiddie meals but there are much better place to spend your $9 bucks on. read more
