Even though, Pre-COVID, I have a CrossFit gym in NYC and I only use BullFrog Fit when I traveled to Newport, the coaches still follow my athletic journey on social media, like my posts, and encourage my success even though I can't be with them as often as I'd like. If you're in the Newport area and either need guidance on embarking on your fitness journey or you're an athlete looking for mechanics or nutrition guidance, this is the place to be!! ‍

I have to travel for my job and I don't always stay in hotels but opt to stay in an Airbnb or with friends when I can. I look for gyms that offer day passes or punch cards. Core's punch card never expires so I can save money and use it the next time I'm in town. They keep it on file so I don't have to remember to bring it. They are the cleanest facility with an upstairs cardio room in addition to the various machines and free weights. I highly recommend this place. The staff was friendly, the changing rooms and showers were clean, and I was able to get an early workout and shower in before having to go to my meetings. It all very conveniently located right on Aquidneck Ave.

The barre and spin classes are incredible -- a killer workout every time -- but what really makes this studio special is the community. The instructors and members create such a positive, supportive, and no-judgment environment that you instantly feel welcomed. Caroline, the owner, is one of the kindest and most uplifting people I've ever met. It's easy to see how her energy sets the tone for the whole studio. Seaside Sculpt has built something genuinely refreshing: a strong community rooted in encouragement and fun. I always leave feeling stronger and much happier than when I walked in! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a motivating workout and an amazing fitness family!

F.K.A. Rhode Island Yoga Studio…read more Bend Studio is located in the treacherous Emporium in the center of the URI campus. Despite being in the college hub, I don't think URI kids make up the majority of the students at Bend. I will make the journey to South County for Nicole Defelice & Isabella Sanderson, two instructors who teach regularly at Bend. Both primarily teach power vinyasa. Both play excellent music in the studio when they're teaching. Both are so joyful, challenging, & fun. Both are 2 of the best yoga instructors I've ever had the pleasure of practicing with. Nicole is a biologist & frequently weaves animal themes into her classes. She knows exactly how to explain micro-adjustments & motions that make the practice more accessible & enjoyable. I've unlocked advanced poses & maintained difficult arm balances thanks to Nicole's instructions. Isabella might be a sadist, but I say that in the most complimentary way possible. Her classes can be incredibly grueling, but if you stick with it, your endurance, strength, flexibility, & balance will improve immensely. Both Nicole & Isabella are the kinds of instructors you hope you're lucky enough to come across once in your lifetime. Somehow, Bend has secured them both. They're precious cargo. They also probably deserve a raise. Thank you, Nicole & Isabella, for nurturing my practice for years now. I never would've become the yogi I am now without the two of you. A note for the owner - I love the updates you've made to the studio over the last few years. My only humble suggestion is to put different lighting in the lobby/common areas. The fluorescents are painful.

I was relieved and very happy to see how easy it was to modify the workouts for beginners. They even have a 10:30am class specifically for beginners so instructors can take extra time working on good form. Lastly, their instructors are knowledgeable but also really care. I can't recommend Manic more highly. They offer a free week trial so If you want to get back in shape and feeling strong, I recommend you give it a try. I'm happy I did!

Manic training consists of 1 hour (or 45 min), instructor-led group HIIT (high intensity interval…read moretraining) exercises which incorporate cardio, speed, agility, balance, kettlebells, dumbbells and body weight exercises Each week, there are 3 different classes (M/Tues, Wed/Thur, Fri/Sat), with about 5-6 different times to choose from throughout the day. The format and exercises rotate and are never the same, sometimes not repeating for months. Although you could take the class every day, 3 times per week is more than sufficient and this is coming from someone who used to go to the gym daily. It's a great class, and John (the owner) or other trainers can help modify exercises based on your difficulty level. Many of these exercises you can do while traveling too! Manic training provides an efficient, challenging and variable workout to help you gain strength, tone and improve your core strength. John is more than available by phone, email or social media and willing to provide other insight into diet. If you want to go to the gym, pay $10-20 a month and say "why havent I lost weight, I can never get in shape", well then think about what you're receiving. Free trial week available and a variety of packages. Great place to go, worth the money and value it will provide you!

High Street Yoga is the best (HOT) yoga studio in the Westerly area…read more What sets HSY apart from other studios in the area is definitely their flexible schedule, awesome instructors, reasonable pricing & showers! I'm partial to their 6am hour of power class during the week. I actually wish Deb taught at 6am every morning but I'm being greedy. They have classes most mornings & noon then again around dinner time. Definitely check their website for a complete list but it's easy to find a class to fit into your schedule. Not all instructors here are the same but they're all great. Every one brings their own personality to class & some can be more challenging than others. So you think $140 a month isn't cheap for yoga? Well yoga is expensive but HSY is definitely most competitive when it comes to price options. A "drop in" for most studios is at least $15 & some don't let you purchase packages. HSY does offer a trial membership so you know what you're getting into before plunking down too much cash. Yoga is an investment & if you're serious you'll definitely get your money's worth. And not every studio I've practiced at has offered locker rooms and/or showers. It's great to take a shower & change into clean clothes after 90 minutes of breathing & stretching.
