Although there was initially more turnover when she started, it seems to have become more steady and there is a longer-lasting relationship with the teachers. We didn't necessarily seek out the bilingual aspect of ECA when looking for a daycare, but I am thankful of the opportunity for my daughter to learn the Chinese language and culture even though we don't speak Mandarin at home. She surprises me with the amount she knows. Looking back, they were a bit more strict during the COVID years, but this is much appreciated as a parent. Although my daughter eventually did contract COVID, it was only at the peak of Omicron that it occurred. They had safety measures that straddled the line of being cautious but also fair to working families. The management has been communicative and transparent. When we have questions or concerns, they are always taken seriously and are open to feedback. We have been very happy with our experience here and don't hesitate to recommend other families to consider ECA.

My son at ECA has learned how to take care of himself, clean up after himself, manners, and properly greeting etiquette. We do not speak mandarin at home, so seeing him be able to pick up so much from school has been so heart warming and amazing. We feel that ECA has done much more, along the lines of controlled learning. Not does he only have free play, but they really do believe that learning about the outside world is just as important. He's learned about continents, the 5 oceans, the solar system. And not only does he learn them in English, he's learned them in Mandarin as well. He has been given the ability to practice his cutting, pasting, writing letters, and number... but he's also been given the experience to learn how to make dumplings, and moon cake with his peers. The art that they do is also tied in to the subjects they are learning... which is how it should be done. They get to see, hear, and do.. which is essential in active learning. We don't speak mandarin at home. And being able to watch my child read mandarin words, sing mandarin songs, and reply to his teachers in mandarin... has been amazing. I can truly say that he speaks better mandarin than I can now. I've added a video to my review as a small sample of how much my son has learned reading Chinese at ECA. Also, once they are in pre-k, there are some days, where your kid gets to bring home, homework (not mandatory). Haha if that's your thing. My child loved it. And was proud to do the work "all by himself". I truly believe my little one has been able to grow a lot from ECA. And we're really happy about the staff, and the head school, Jenny. They have less turn over rates than our prior daycare, and the staff really seem to enjoy their time with the kids. The cameras are also always a nice touch to ease any parent's anxiety. There are so many wonderful things to say about LPW-B but first and foremost will always be the dedication of the teachers and staff to the kiddos. Many teachers have been there for over 10 years and that certainly speaks to their love for the job and how they are treated by the administration (just ask anyone in childcare, esp. from a larger chain). They're also very accommodating to your child's needs -- my son has many food allergies and also requires the use of a feeding tube. The teachers & admin had zero qualms about providing him with his tubes feeds (twice daily at specific times). This was a huge relief as first time parents who really struggled getting the appropriate nutrition to their kiddo and then had to worry about food allergies and whether or not medical accommodations could be made. Finally, the monthly tuition is incredibly affordable. For both of my children, the monthly tuition is equivalent to my friend's one child at one of the nearby larger chains. The only "negative" I will mention is that if you really like the idea of having real-time updates via an app, LPW-B is more like your traditional elementary school where you'll get an update at the end of the day.

Instead of going to law school, I found other things to keep me busy and when my score expired this year, I decided to try and take the exam again. After looking through the different potential programs, I decided on Blueprint. I liked the web interface and their ability to track your performance on different questions seemed like a good idea. I had no idea how right I was. The course was two months and took place at the University of Washington. The class size was small enough so that the teacher, Chris, was able to get to know everyone. Both Chris and the Blueprint materials effectively taught the Blueprint method for all three sections on the LSAT. Chris was a great instructor keeping everything relaxed and relevant (by using comic real world examples) but also structured and moving forward at a brisk pace. We took six practice exams, but the course also offered an extra 11 exams that could be taken on your own. If that wasn't enough, one of the real benefits of the Blueprint method was the website and the data analytics. The instructors have created a database of questions and classified them based on a type and how difficult they are. That way when you get something wrong, you can figure out if you're getting the same type of question wrong and then drill to get it right. I found it very useful in targeting which type of logical reasoning questions I was weak on and which games I was having trouble on. All in all, I was very satisfied with my experience at Blueprint.

You normally schedule an appointment weeks in advance for a counseling session or workshop. You come in and swipe your student card and check-in electronically, which is very convenient. All of the staff's calendars get booked really quickly so for me, I normally had to wait for at least 3-5 weeks for a 30-minute appointment. The career center has staff who specifically helps out with resumes and cover letters. They are all pretty professional and good with their work. However, a short 30-minute session always goest by really fast, especially if the staff does not know you well. I think that is the only downside of the career center at a big public university. Every time I go in, I would have a different staff assisting with my resumes. It delays the process of getting to the actual issues that need to be addressed at the session. It is often much easier if I could just have one staff consistently helping me over-time. That is why I prefer departmental career center over the general one at the school. If you have already graduated from the university, then the service requires a fee. I believe it is $60 for a 60-minute resume session. Workshops would also require a fee. So take the free service advantage as a student while you can!
