I came here for a fundraiser for a Jewish organization I am a part of! It's on the 17th floor, and has a tiny elevator along with a coat check. I can't believe in all my years of being in downtown, I'd never heard of the Manhattan Penthouse. Location is so convenient and offers a sick view of uptown and downtown. It's a pretty small venue, so it's ideal for groups of fewer than 200. Even with that number, it was tight and hot, so keep it to a minimum if you're planning something here. The food was solid. We had sliders, vegetables, hummus, chicken skewers, mango and tuna cups, avocado and tahini on bread, fruit, muffins, and cookies. I particularly loved the sliders and vegetables. For kosher food, I was impressed. For regular food, it's a 3/5. There were two bars in the outside part, and one on the inside. The bartenders were quick and able to serve the large crowd without a holdup. The service was professional and very present. One of the servers saw I liked one of the items, so he kept bringing it my way. Shout-out to him. Just wish there were more bathrooms. One in the back with two stalls is not enough! Otherwise, delightful little venue that I look forward to returning to for this annual fundraiser. read more

Location location location. Located in the heart of lower Manhattan you truly cannot beat this venue especially when it's at a very reasonable price point. Compared to many event spaces in that area, Manhattan Penthouse seems to be a hidden gem that many New Yorkers don't know about. I shopped around for a few months and instantly fell in love with this place. I threw my MIL's 60th surprise birthday party here and found the staff to be extremely accommodating and attentive. The views of the city skyline included the One World Trade Center that looked amazing during sunset. We had a little over 100 guests and a 8 piece band that fit comfortably in this space. I would not recommend this venue for a party over 200. Our event was on a Sunday and street parking was pretty easy for my guests to find. I would highly recommend this venue for any special events that have a guest count of 100 or more and value a true NYC posh experience without breaking the bank. It's definitely worth a walk through. My husband and I had our Wedding reception here in May. Monika and her staff were amazing! I have allergies (no gluten, dairy or egg) and they were able to cater for me so that I could fully enjoy my wedding meal. The space is gorgeous, with amazing views of the Empire State Building and One World Trade! We even lucked out and had a thunderstorm roll in so we could all watch bolts of lightning fly across the sky! So cool! There was plenty of space for dancing and we were allowed to use the piano too! We just threw a bat mitzvah party for our daughter at the Manhattan Penthouse. Everything was...well, I guess I'd have to say it was perfect. We knew the space was lovely, having been there for a couple events in the past. We didn't know that it was going to be so (relatively, by the standard of upscale New York party spaces) affordable, and how easy they were going to make the process. Alisa was fantastic to deal with, we didn't always make her life easy with our requests, but she pushed through with good humor and precision. I'm struggling to think of something negative to say, because it's always nice for these reviews to be balanced. I guess I could say that the food was *only* very good, not great. But, of course, we're talking about catering, which is almost never going to be the quality of the finest restaurants. A number of our guests said that it was the best party they'd ever been to -- what more can you ask for? read more

We originally booked our wedding at the Manhattan Penthouse for April 2020. Due to CoVid19 the venue was closed and the venue was forced to cancel our event. We really wanted our wedding there so we booked our wedding again with a December 2020 date. Unfortunately, the venue did not execute the December 2020 contract and cancelled our event. We were lucky enough to find another venue and proceeded with our wedding on our December date. As a result, we requested a refund of our deposit. At this time we can happily report that the venue has returned our deposit money in full. The Manhattan Penthouse is a beautiful venue and we know the food tasting was delicious. It saddened us that our wedding was cancelled twice. I am sure as they get back on their feet, they will return to their previous excellent rating. read more

When my husband and I decided to tour Manhattan Penthouse for our wedding, we instantly loved it. After having already looked at other Manhattan venues, we both knew this was the place for our big, special day. We had our ceremony and reception there, including a cocktail hour, a sit-down catered dinner and an open bar. This all-in-one package made planning our wedding so much easier and less stressful which is exactly what we wanted. The City views are beautiful, the venue is warm and elegant, and the food is delicious! For Manhattan, very reasonable pricing. Worth every penny! The feedback from our 100 guests, comprised of out-of-towners and native New Yorkers, was five stars. Everyone truly had a blast. They loved the venue, the food, the service and complimented the organized flow of the evening. Many Facebook pictures went up of the views through the beautiful, arched windows. Also, if you're a fan of the Goodfellas movie like my husband and I, you'll appreciate the hidden passageway that takes you from the bridal suite through the kitchen and out to the ballroom. Monika Nemeth, our day-to-day contact, needs a special mention. We could not have asked for a nicer, more professional, responsive, and organized person than Monika. She was helpful every step of the way and responded quickly to our email questions. We really appreciated having her to help us throughout the planning process. The rest of the staff was great and helpful as well. Good vibes all around. We loved every part of our wedding and are so happy that we booked this place! We had to move our wedding from August 2020 to august 2021 due to Covid. The venue couldn't understand a world wide pandemic and charged us 1500 to move our date. Our coordinator, Monika had emailed us last year to let us know that she won't be working at the venue anymore also due to Covid. I just emailed and called the owner to no avail. He's screening his calls at both the venue and the catering company: Mansions Catering Inc. We're out almost 5000 and I'm can't even say how betrayed and hurt I am. I first held my former company's holiday party at Manhattan Plaza in Dec 2021 when people were just emerging from pandemic isolation and getting back to in-person celebrations. I found it through the recommendation of a friend who had been there for an evening of tango. I tend to avoid "blank slate" venues since they usually require more work to organize than "plug and play" venues, and at first I was concerned that it was too "wedding-y", but because of the extreme flexibility of the space, that was not at all the case. In fact, the event went so perfectly that I re-booked it for our Dec 2022 party. It really is the perfect space at a convenient location with a view of the city that makes the need for further decoration extremely minimal. Monika, the Director, works closely with you to provide recommendations for any additional services you need and is extremely accommodating taking a ton of stress off the process. Once it's booked, Glen, the Catering Executive, takes over and he is a pure pleasure to work with in taking the event to the finish line. When we came back for the second year, it felt like coming back to old friends. From a festive dinner/dance one year to a full blown casino the next, the Manhattan Penthouse can become whatever environment you dream it to be. And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the presence of a grand piano in the front room which makes a cocktail hour all the more special if you can hire someone to play! Manhattan Penthouse was the ultimate wedding venue location. Not only does it come with EVERYTHING (bartender, alcohol, catering, servers, linens and a coordinator) but it's beautiful and the location is amazing. Monica was so helpful and professional- we had a day of coordinator and when she showed up to the venue everything was set up already! the venue is large but feels intimate, the views are unreal and the food was delicious. Some of the details I was most impressed with: 1. Knowledge of religious needs (challah, kosher meals and wine, etc) 2. Guidance on scheduling 3. Response time 4. Vendor recommendations 5. When we walked back down the aisle, Monica was waiting in the back with our specialty cocktails and there was champagne and appetizers for us in the bridal suite. I got married here almost a year ago, and my husband and I were apprehensive about having a whole to do for our wedding. My parents found this gem of a venue, and it was the perfect setting for our special day. We had 130 people, and the party felt both intimate but not confining at the same time. I hate weddings because I usually leave hungry, but everyone complimented their dishes and enjoyed the food. We did a seafood and upgraded to a cut of meat that Jena recommended. Now to Jeno, he's bossy.... but I loved him and he knows his stuff. He made the entire wedding process easy as could be, and worked great with all the vendors. As you enter the small lobby, a gentlemen ushers you into one of three small elevators. The 17th floor is where most people head to - and the view doesn't disappoint. You can see quite a bit of Manhattan from the three sides windows, and you get a great chance to see the city, especially at night where you can see all the way up to the Empire State pretty clearly on a good night. The staff were pleasant and quick to respond to questions and issues. The only strange part of the setup - lighting was very concentrated in some areas and less so in others - not sure if it was just an intention, but you could see the groups of people shy away from the very brightly lit areas and there were strange pockets of empty light. They did supply a microphone & audio system for an announcement, but it was a bit weak - couldn't hear it over the din of the conversation until a few people started chiming on the glasses. While I wasn't necessarily a fan of the passed appetizers and the table snacks, I won't use it as the representation of the possible food they may have available. The three bars they set up more than accommodated for the people attending. Overall - staff and view - four stars. The elevators, lighting choice, audio - three, which leaves me at 3 stars since I can't put 3.5. read more

Last night my school held its annual formal at Manhattan Penthouse for the first time. The past two years, we had our annual event at Downtown Association down in water street area. But people were getting bored of the venue and didn't want to return again for the same food and same setting etc. So our SGA VP worked really hard to find a new venue with equally attractive price, options, and better location for everyone. I love how Manhattan Penthouse is so accessible through the Union Square stations. Even with all the subway weekend detours, we managed to arrive around 8 o'clock as the first couple. There was a coat check station immediately left of the entrance. The coat check lady was extremely sweet and she even took pictures for my fiance and me. I had to repeatedly go back to my coat to get my phone and put in my flats and she had no problem whatsoever. There was a bar station right by the entrance also. They had only 2 bartenders however and it was the only bar station in the whole venue. It was fine initially but it became a little chaotic an hr into the night. Open bar with only 2 bartenders? I had to wait about 10 mins just to get a diet coke. Hors d'oeuvres were passed around during cocktail hours. There were tuna sashimi, crab cakes, veggie rolls, creme chicken in puff pastry, stuffed mushroom with walnut and goat cheese, beef empanada, and fried potato ball? (wasn't sure what it was). About 2 servers walked around with each type of hors d'oeuvres each time. Towards the end of the cocktail hours however, they just left the plates of goodies right by the bar and tall tables in the reception area. I almost missed out on which ended up being my fav - the creme chicken puff pastry cuz they were literally just sitting by the end of the bar! Exactly 1 hr into cocktail hours, they opened the doors to the main dining room which also had the dance floor right in the middle. They had a buffet station with servers (which was nice, kept the line moving and people didn't pile their plates or picked at specific item they like in each dish). We were served white fish, pasta, sirloin, and a mushroom/citrus salad. The food wasn't that amazing except for the white fish - it was cooked perfectly! My fiance however thought it was a little bland. I didn't really have much room for the buffet since I overate during cocktail hours. By this time, we decided to get up to dance and go back out to the bar to grab a few more drinks (which was really inconvenient - wish they set up a mini bar in the main dining room). My fiance and I danced the night away as we wait for the dessert station to be set up. The dessert station which consisted of molten chocolate cake and fruits weren't set up until another hr and half into the night. I was super excited to hear dessert station but was really disappointed to see only cake and fruits. The molten chocolate cake's center was not even runny or warm. I took a bite and I opted for more fruits instead. We stayed until 5 mins before the end of the night knowing that there were only 2 functional elevators to get back down from the 17th floor. Overall we had a lovely formal night. The staffs were very accommodating (especially the coat check lady and the two bartenders). However I thought they were a little short staffed - took a really long time to set everything up. The venue itself is nothing special but it is at a prime location. You can see the empire state building but there were unfortunately scaffolding around. Don't think I want my school to host its formal here again next year ( I would be sooooooo disappointed if we do). Nevertheless it was a nice try of a new place! read more

The waitstaff is extremely friendly and I felt like the guest of honor while I was here, with food being presented to me from every direction every few seconds. This review is for the experience I had while searching for a wedding venue, I've never actually been to an event here- so if you are considering this place as an venue space read on... I called this morning to inquire about possibly hosting our wedding here to which I ended up making an appointment to go and see the venue in the afternoon with Jeno. I can't imagine for the life of me why anyone on here could say that this man was helpful in the least, the only thing I could imagine is that he was having a bad day. In my opinion if you are a business, you try to make things easier and speak nicely to your potential clients. One example "so how to do you set up this space for the wedding". Jeno replies "are you having the ceremony on site?" Me: "no" Jeno: " then why would you ask me how the space is set up- it's exactly like you see it" In addition, this individual provided no costs with him replying that he gave them to me over the phone so hopefully I took notes earlier. In addition to this horrific service from someone who is trying to get my business...the actual venue is nothing great. Yeah- it has some good views, but it is run down and old. The elevators are extremely slow, I can't even imagine how you can get 100+ guests up to the 17th floor in less than an hour. I can't imagine for the life of me why this place has such high reviews, I wouldn't even waste my time looking if you are considering it read more

We had our daughter's wedding here on 11/11/18 and it was wonderful. The setting has epic views of the Freedom Tower to the south and The Empire State Building to the north. As for the staff, these folks are pros and know how to use this space to the max. Everything went so smoothly that we were able to simply enjoy the wedding. I was scheduled to attend a wedding for my best friend and she had to reschedule multiple reservations due to the current GLOBAL pandemic. Sam was very rude and condescending, while lacking any human sympathy, to my friend and her family while they were trying to cancel their reservation. He only gave excuses for his own business and not taking into consideration the current state of our world. It's understandable that you have to look out for your business, but you should be able to pride yourself on a positive reputation for future clientele. His emails were curt, dismissive and lacked appropriate respond time for someone with his position for this pressing matter and the money involved. I think it's only appropriate that any self-respecting company to recognize the pandemic and be understanding, but that was not the case for him. Weddings are stressful enough and even more during a pandemic. It shouldn't be made more difficult and disheartening by a selfish businessman. The only saving grace in this process was Monica who was positively fantastic and nothing short of professional the whole way through. Couldn't say more great things about her. read more

In short, this place was nearly flawless. I was married here on June 23rd and things could not have been better from beginning to end. Everything was made very easy for us and a large part of the kudos goes to Jeno and his professionalism. He was right there with us the entire time to make sure that everything was how we wanted them and organize the ceremony. I couldn't count how many guests were "in the right spot" for the hors d'oeuvres hour? The hors d'oeuvres were fast and plentiful. More so, each one was delicious. We had a selection laid out for us in the bridal suite after the ceremony along with our chilled bottle of champagne. My favorites were definitely the seared tuna with wasabi mayo and the avocado cups. The food at dinner was delicious. Where most large scale catering overcooks their food, the lamb was rare and tender. And the Chilean Sea Bass was delicious. Overall, an A+ on the food. As the sun went down the views only became better and the party just continued. How did 3am crawl up so quickly? Through the many extensions of the party (yes, that is an option) the staff remained hard working and polite. The alcohol flowed the entire time. If there is one fly in the otherwise brilliant ointment, it would be that the base wine selection could have used an upgrade. After spending all of the money for this place, we had to go outside to buy cases for the event. With all the costs of a Manhattan wedding this was minimal though we would have preferred a good house selection. read more

Magnificent views on the 17th floor, you can see most of Manhattan, even more gorgeous as the sun sets. Made for some magnificent photos. Every single thing was ready and done on time, excellent d'oeuvres, served hot and with class. Tables beautifully set, the servers were totally professional and efficient. Nice tasteful and tasty menu, perfect selection. The manager was there and very attentive, made sure it all went according to plan. I hired an illusionist who circulated and did mind-blowing card tricks and is a really engaging and talented man. If you want his name and references, feel free to contact me. Even though the venue is large enough for 200 people, it is easily converted so the room looks nice with us. It is centrally located and has an amazing view on three sides. I attended a special awards dinner here last evening for a professional organization. It is a pretty venue with great view. The cocktail hour was nicely presented with a central table of cheeses, vegetables, baba ganoush, pate, olives, pickles, breads. All replaced quickly and generously. Dinner was served buffet style ( not my favorite to be dressed up and stand in line for food) but the food was quite decent and plentiful and offered the opportunity for 2nd's , or more: salad,chicken with mushrooms and artichokes, pasta primavera, and salmon in puff pastry. Dessert was individual chocolate cakes, strawberry coulis, whipped cream, and fresh strawberries. All very tasty and decent, not the greatest, but certainly lovely. Went to NYU formal here. It had a very pretty view of the Empire State building and spacious. It was hard to get up to the penthouse because the elevators are small. It wasn't too hard to find either. There is a doorman, but the lobby isn't really a lobby at all. RIght when you walk in, you need to be shoved into an elevator before the lobby gets too crowded. I'm pretty sure this building houses residents as well. The actual room were we had dinner was decent size. The downside was, there wasn't even enough tables for everyone to sit. That was really upsetting to me. I was in heals, starving and wanted a place to sit and eat. My friends and I ended up sitting on the window sill, eating from our laps. Quite sad. I'm not sure if it was NYU's fault or if it was the actual venue's fault. The bar was nice. There was one in the entrance room and three tables were set up in the dinner room. There was a dance floor as well. It wasn't huge, but wasn't too small either, just right. All in all, the experience was pretty awesome. Once night fell over New York City, the view was amazing! After countless weeks of research, I decided on Manhattan Penthouse as our wedding venue and couldn't have been happier with my decision. It's been almost a year since our wedding; and after attending almost 10 others and noticing little things about their venues, i've come to greatly appreciate how everything played out with Manhattan Penthouse. I worked with Monika, the m'aitre dee on logistical details and Sam, the owner on negotiations. A month before our wedding, the building went under construction and these unsightly pipes and gone up all over the big windows. Needless to say, as a first time bride I freaked out and didn' tknow what to do. Monika and Sam were both extremely accomodating, understanding and offered us actually viable options we could use. We switched up the layout and everything worked out great. I would say that the success of a venue all lies upon the owner and people that manage the day-to-day operations. Even under such duress both Sam and Monika were able to offer their empathy and options that we could depend on. I hope to work with them again at a future event. read more

I like the height of this place, and the light that comes in, but I don't feel like it has the space around in the city it it needs to breathe. It feels a bit crammed into the urban grid. That being said, I loved the service, ambiance, and swankiness of the Manhattan Penthouse, it certainly felt like it was made for high rollers. The food was also very very good. We held our wedding at the Manhattan Penthouse on October 30th, 2016 and could not have been happier. We worked with Jeno who was just incredible every step of the way. Jeno is clearly a professional, and his experience and attention to detail showed. He thought of many things that we did not think of, and always pointed us in the right direction by asking questions specific to our needs. The venue is incredible. We had a cocktail party wedding, which our guests loved! The food was incredible, the staff were amazing, and the views were spectacular. Jeno and his team organized everything for us when we got there, and there was a quick and seamless transition between ceremony to dinner/dancing. After the ceremony, our guests were treated to special cocktails (we didnt even know about this!). We honestly had the best night of our lives, and we felt secure with Jeno and the Penthouse who really took care of all it. This is as stress free as it gets.
