I visited the Quinn House Thrift Store today. I purchased a queen-size headboard and kick board…read more The price was great, and the associates were very helpful, and friendly! The associates who helped me were: Jennifer, Mike, and John! A great experience!

33 years ago John and Carrol Quinn opened their home to families in need. Quinn House, a…read morenon-profit, faith based ministry, was born! The thrift store has free parking and friendly service, shout-out to Pat! It's a donation-based mishmash of solid finds and junk. Like most secondhand stores, due diligence pays off! I fell for a vintage exercise bike in the furniture warehouse and mooned over an old piano. If only I had 4 body builders to lift it and a truck to put it in! With items ranging from a Richard Simmons workout video to Toni Morrison's Beloved, it's a treasure hunt! But Quinn House is more than a store. Many of the best items aren't sold, they're donated to domestic violence survivors & others rebuilding their lives. Quinn House's 40 day residential addiction recovery program is FREE. Instead of judgement, men at their lowest point are given shelter, honest work and a new start! Offering an alternative to recidivism, "guests" recover and save $$ so they can transition back into society. Rickie Smokes' testimony impacted me more than any sermon. 14 years ago he was a Quinn House guest, now he's the Executive Director! Years before Rickie entered the program, Pat and her young son were taken in by the Quinns. Today she's Rickie's other half, Thrift Store manager and over PR. Quinn House brought the couple together and they've committed their lives to service! Quinn House's pantry distributes 1.2 million pounds of food annually to Gwinnett County residents! Unlike some churches in DeKalb where poor people wait in line for hours for expired canned goods, a package of hot dogs & freezer burnt chicken, Quinn House offers quality meat and healthy produce. They even provide holiday family meals and monthly boxes for 130 seniors! Whether donating book bags, Easter baskets or Christmas gifts to 3,000 kids in need, Quinn House blesses Lawrenceville! How can you help? I'm glad you asked! Shop at the thrift store or consider donating household goods, gift cards or furniture. Local pickup is available! Check out the website for a "needs list" of grocery items or volunteer to pack boxes for seniors. If you're in need, call Quinn House to make an appointment.
