I'm not usually one for antiques stores, but something about the little displays they had going on, made me pop my head in. I saw right off the bat that the people who run this, LOVE what they do. They take good care of their antiques and down in the 2nd area of the building, they have stalls.. I'm guessing this is where OTHERS sell their antiques on commission. It was down here I ended up finding my FIND. As we walked around I saw this.. THING. It was dark and there was a red lining. I picked it up and it was a mid century woolen cloak. Heavy and in great condition, lined with red satin, I tried it on. It fit like I was the person it was made for. There was NO way I was walking out without it. I know I live in FLA, and it's not like I NEED a heavy wool cloak, but DAMN, this was GORGEOUS, and at $49.50, I could not pass it up. I also found gloves that I'd been looking for. A ladies size 7, Oscar De Larenta, for $4. Now that's what I call a steal. Truth be told, they have antiques of Every variety, If you want good quality period peices, take a look around here in Lilburn, Ga. You may just go home with something MEANT for you.

If you're looking for a dirty, hoarderesque establishment with things stacked three feet deep and dim lighting, you're at the wrong place. That being said, I don't want this 3 star review to discourage anyone! I just want to inform you about this place, so you can know if it what you're looking for. It didn't have the things I was looking for, but that doesn't mean it won't have what you're looking for. I came in, not looking for anything in particular, really. Just browsing and such, maybe looking for some records or books from 1905. It's a furniture and fine china mart. As to the "antique aspect"... I'd say maybe about 40% of the items there were what I'd consider antique. As in, pre-80s, maybe even mid-70s. But there were some beautiful pieces. Elaborate crystal chandeliers, heavy oaken tables, chess sets crafted from stone and marble, stunning Japanese-style room dividers with raised images and beautiful imagery. I was sort of afraid to touch anything because it was so brightly lit and so many things looked delicate. My idea of a perfect antique market is a mix of said beautiful furniture and other 1950s things. Dresses, photographs, typewriter in a bold case. This place was strictly fine furniture, with a smattering of jewelry and other random pieces (abacus, anyone), and was far too tasteful for my tastes. I'm a grungy, dig-through-this-room-and-find-treasures kind of person, not delicate stemware and principled manors. So if you've got cash to spare and a discerning eye for beautiful things, I'm sure you'd enjoy this place far more than I did.

However, what makes My Favorite Place different is that they are more flea market than consignment/antique store, and this is something that they fully embrace and own! We have popped into My Favorite Place a couple of times over the years in search of things we never knew we needed. MFP is a treasure trove of used items ranging from trinkets to furniture that are stacked from wall to wall and floor to ceiling, they even have pieces outside lining the sidewalk. To go back to the "flea market" comment, that is truly what the items here are. The store feels like one big yard sale with majority of the items simply being used and old, not really antiques or collectibles. Due to this and the way things are stacked and shelved, a lot of items are pretty beat up. They have a solid selection of furniture pieces, but again they are chipped and worn. If you are after furniture and plan to finish it yourself, then MFP is a solid option for you! Prices are fair and decent for everything in here, even the furniture. The pricing reflects the condition, so again if you are a DIY-er, then you can really find some great deals and good pieces here. Overall, My Favorite Place is a combination of over and underwhelming. Overwhelming in the way of volume of items, haphazard organization and stocking and underwhelming in the condition of items. We pop in when we are in the area, but would not go out of our way to drop by here.

We were our looking for that thing we didn't know we needed and wondered into Chamblee Antiques and Collectibles. Upon walking up, you see a part of their building dons a "Furniture Restoration" sign, so immediately we got pumped as we were actually more interested in furniture than the tchotchke's normally found in places like this. Upon entry, we were greeted by the owners, who were very nice and welcoming! They of course offered us assistance is we may need it and let us know that there were more items through the doorway. As most antique shops, there was a wide assortment of items from entry to exit. We wondered through to get to the furniture side of things, but sadly never found it. While they had random tables and chests, the furniture restoration side of the business is no more *insert sad face*. The side of the shop that used to house this portion of the business is a little strange featuring glass cases for knick-knacks, mannequins dressed very oddly, homemade items and a few other random things. Going to be honest, it was a little weird. Overall, this is your run of the mill, small, locally owned antique shop. While most places are cluttered and bursting at the seams, this place was not packed with stuff, which could be a good thing, however the "antiques" here were off for me and left me confused. For us, it missed the mark, but I am sure to others it will provide what is needed - as that is what the antique markets are all about, what one person loathes, another loves!

You know you have arrived once you see the large blue sign and metal awning hovering around and over the front doors. This place is overwhelming with the amount of items they have from entry to exit, so brace yourselves! I would say 50% of their stock is tchotchke based with a lot of glass cases holding things from bobble heads to cards to small figurines, etc...They also have a lot of artwork and signage strewn throughout with pockets of furniture, clothing, lamps and even a corner dedicated to retro hardware. I do feel that they have a lot more small, dated items than true antiques. Don't get me wrong, they have a large variety of unique items - but it is definitely a healthy mix of antique and flea market finds. The staff was very nice as we were greeted shortly after entering and were checked up on throughout our journey. Even when we left empty handed, they made sure to thank us for coming by and welcomed us back. Overall, Chamblee Antiques & Interiors has a lot to offer to the right person.
