I had some growing pain in my jaw last week and thought I was grinding my teeth at night, which I recalled doing about 20 years ago. Last night, I figured out the pain was from one particular tooth (far back lower left if it matters) and I called my dentist in the morning and told them my concern, symtoms, and the fact that I am going into the back country of Glacier Park next week and was worried about the tooth pain getting worse at that time. They called Big Sky Endodontics for me and they fit me into their schedule the same day. I went to their office expecting to get a root canal (their specialty). The staff were wonderful - efficient, knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. Dr. Hamling looked at the Xray and wanted a bigger image of my teeth to judge if a root canal was justified and if they could save the tooth. He reviewed the imagery with me, discussed options, and recommended that we pull the tooth with the likelihood being that I would not miss it much. If I did miss it in four months at the checkup, he could put a new tooth in. The tooth was pulled at the same visit with zero pain, and they provided me with clear post operative instructions. The staff was mediocre and barely pleasant. Almost like it was an inconvenience to ask questions. Make sure to ask questions about every possible charge you may get, such as an exam, ct scan, x rays, temporary or permanent filling after root canal, etc. If they give you a temporary filling, you will need to go to a regular dentist and pay several hundred dollars to get a permanent filling. They could easily improve by explaining to new clients what to expect with billing instead of being surprised after the work is complete.

Carolyn was reassuring, & she mentioned that if I needed a crown on another tooth, that it takes just one visit: I found that to be a game-changer for me (after spending multiple visits at another local dental practice over 2 months for ONE crown which failed, resulting in a very expensive root canal from a local endodontist)! I made the appointment, & recall telling Carolyn that it was because of her that I was doing so. I feel very strongly about excellent customer service & found Carolyn to be exceptional. As I told Dr. J. Max Wasserburger about what led me to seek this second opinion from him, I cried. After listening to me, reviewing all my x-rays, & examining my teeth, he reassured me that my teeth were not in the dire condition that I had been led to believe. Dr. Wasserburger is not only an excellent dentist, he's an artist! I asked him if he could use composite to fill in the worn areas on several teeth to protect & restore them before I get aligners or braces. What he did was AMAZING! I never expected to feel MORE confident over having these done, but I do, & his work looks fabulous--completely restored! It has made me feel HAPPY, & that is priceless. I've also had the remaining metal fillings removed & replaced with composite, & it feels so much better: The reason I needed two crowns in the first place was because my metal fillings had caused both of those teeth to crack & age prematurely. My crown experience with Dr. Wasserburger was FUN: The entire procedure for a permanent crown start-to-finish was complete in about 2 hours, & I even got to watch the crown being made! I have had some great dentists over the years, but Dr. Wasserburger is by far the BEST! If you need any kind of dental work, I highly recommend Hays Dental Group: Everyone you meet will make you feel welcome & glad that you're there. The staff was so kind and understanding of my allergies. Dr. Spencer and his team really care and Dr. Spencer has the experience and expertise to handle my case. Dr. Spencer and his team have continuously gone above and beyond to make sure I won't have an allergic reaction. They make time in their schedule to get me in quickly when I need anything at all. Another thing about this office is they have a holistic approach. Dr. Spencer was able to take the rest of my mercury (amalgam or called silver) fillings out safely and when I was tested for mercury exposure after, there was no mercury to note!!! In the past when I've had mercury fillings removed "Safely" there was quite a lot of Mercury residual in my testing. I also have not been allergic to any thing Dr. Spencer has used (I've had A-LOT of work done in the last 6 months) and I think that's because Dr. Spencer picks out very clean products that are the best available in the industry.
