I just returned from getting a tooth pulled by Dr. Jeffery Hamling at Big Sky Endodontics. It was actually an enjoyable experience - which is an odd thing to say about getting a tooth pulled. I had some growing pain in my jaw last week and thought I was grinding my teeth at night, which I recalled doing about 20 years ago. Last night, I figured out the pain was from one particular tooth (far back lower left if it matters) and I called my dentist in the morning and told them my concern, symtoms, and the fact that I am going into the back country of Glacier Park next week and was worried about the tooth pain getting worse at that time. They called Big Sky Endodontics for me and they fit me into their schedule the same day. I went to their office expecting to get a root canal (their specialty). The staff were wonderful - efficient, knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. Dr. Hamling looked at the Xray and wanted a bigger image of my teeth to judge if a root canal was justified and if they could save the tooth. He reviewed the imagery with me, discussed options, and recommended that we pull the tooth with the likelihood being that I would not miss it much. If I did miss it in four months at the checkup, he could put a new tooth in. The tooth was pulled at the same visit with zero pain, and they provided me with clear post operative instructions. They are not up front with their prices. Lots of add-ons to have a root canal. We do not have dental insurance so it was a shock. The root canal went fine. The staff was mediocre and barely pleasant. Almost like it was an inconvenience to ask questions. Make sure to ask questions about every possible charge you may get, such as an exam, ct scan, x rays, temporary or permanent filling after root canal, etc. If they give you a temporary filling, you will need to go to a regular dentist and pay several hundred dollars to get a permanent filling. They could easily improve by explaining to new clients what to expect with billing instead of being surprised after the work is complete. read more

I was referred to Dr. Hamling from my family dentist for re-doing my root canal. Dr. Hamling completed the work and I do not have any complaints with the dental work that was completed. However, these prices are TWICE the average and is absurd. I had to pay $400 at my first appointment prior to any work being done and another $125 after my work was complete before they submitted anything to insurance which I thought was weird. I later find out from my insurance that my procedure on average is only $700 but this office charged $1,300. My two root canals including caps cost less out of pocket than this procedure. Just an FYI for anyone who is going to go to Dr. Hamling - check with your insurance company first before proceeding or your going to be paying an arm and a leg. Dr Hamling did a wonderful, painless root canal. He closed you the cavity to avoid going back to the dentist.

My partner was referred here after her general dentist found that her crippling jaw pain was due to a tooth that needed either a root canal or extraction. Big Sky Endo decided an extraction was the route to go and she received top notch care and service. Here is where the good ends. After her procedure she paid a bill on side and was told the rest would go to insurance. She was asked to provide a physical address which she did but noted to the office staff our mailing is different. They did not want the mailing. 6 months go by with nothing till she gets a call from collections. Apparently insurance did NOT cover the remainder and they had attempted to mail the bill 5 times which was all returned to sender as they did not have our mailing address. Come to find out they sent her to collections less than 2 months after her initial appointment and the collectors were just now calling. We were told by Big Sky Endo that they didn't bother calling because they assumed we would not answer as they thought we faked our address already. We didn't, they just didn't bother to notate our mailing address. In this day and age to not bother calling a patient to inform them they have a bill outstanding that they did not know about and relying solely on snail mail is unacceptable negligence and poor business practice. Unfortunately the victim of their incompetence is our credit score. To all prospective patience, BE WARNED, call them every day if you have to, to inquire about your bill or they will send you to collections lightning fast. I was referred here for a root canal that ended in an extraction and bone graft. I gave them my insurance and then my copay. They told me they would let me know if there was a remaining balance after talking to insurance this was March 2022. Today July 26th 2022 I received a call from collections about my outstanding balance for big sky endodontics. I called the office and they told me they tried to mail me a bill but it was "sent back" to them and they turned me into collection. There was no phone call to confirm address or let me know there was ZERO contact from them. They turned me into collections without talking to me or informing me of ANY bill to go in and pay for it. If you read the reviews for them on Google you will see another client who experienced something very similar. I can't recommend going here as they refuse to follow up with their clients who pay their bill they prefer to fuck you over. I am awaiting response from them about this. read more

I recently had to have a Root Canal on a molar tooth that had already been crowned. When a crown has to be drilled through, sometimes it can break and another me has to be made at additional costs. This was a concern for me, as any additional costs would've been out of pocket. However, this wasn't a concern of the Doctor and thankfully I didn't need to get a new crown. I am sure if I would've gone anywhere else, it would've been highly likely to have needed a new crown. I am very grateful for Dr. Hamling, his expertise and the professionalism of his office staff. The office is super clean and comfortable, as measures are taken to keep everyone at their best health. Additionally, there was NO pain!
