I went there about a month ago cause I was in the area and again today. I always get a bacon egg and cheese on a everything bagel. Well both times the everything bagels were plain bagels as there were barely any seeds on the bagels. The first visit i brought it back and the lady at the counter tried to convince me that it was a everything bagel because of the 12 and half seeds on the bagel. So at the endbof the day I will not be returning to this Manhattan bagel ever again. If only I could post pictures to show that would be great read more

I have had an everything bagel with cream cheese when I was high school and I just remembered how good the bagel was. This place is located in the same plaza as Shoprite in Brick. There was quite a lot of people when I went. The place looked very similar to other bagel shops. I thought the decor inside would be modern since it is a franchise. Line didnt take that long; it moved fast. I wanted to customize/create my own but I didnt see this option on the menu. I decided to get the farmhouse which is a hash brown bagel with cream cheese, egg, bacon and ham. At first I didnt think cream cheese would taste good with all the other stuff but everything about this bagel sandwich was delicious. Farmhouse cost $7.99. I also got a side of hash brown as you can see from my photo it looked sad; hash brown needs to be worked on. read more

Don't expect too much. The food in general is freshly made. Yes, the place is busy at breakfast and lunch. The place feels somewhat like a downer, for instance, the lines move very slowly, the tables are very small, the floors are very dirty, the garbage in most receptacles are filled. And The staff is grumpy, not very helpful. They have the following signs hanging from the ceiling: ORDER HERE AND PAY HERE. There is no PICK-UP sign. So of course people wait around the PAY HERE area and that's where the problems arise. Having had a restaurant experience myself, I could shape this place up in two weeks. Enough is enough. I get simplifying menus to streamline and cut costs but if you do that you have got to do it right. Here they have gone too far and hiked the prices too much. Gone from the menu are the traditional items you associate with bagels like whitefish salad and the array of bagel spreads that are traditional. I ordered an Ellis pastrami sandwich on a cinnamon raisin bagel which is supposed to be grilled and hot. It was cold and on the wrong bagel and was put in the box such that it could not be unwrapped without falling to pieces. My father had the spicy chicken sandwich special which also should have been hot but was cold and also fell apart and was messy just unwrapping it. (by way of update, the chicken was so undercooked that it gave my dad food poisoning) On top of that, the cashier didn't even know what the special of the day was and tried to upcharge me for it. Her excuse was that no one bothered to tell her the special despite it being on a sign by the door. Simplification is the present trend but know what you are doing and do it well if you choose to simplify. This place has seen better times. I will find somewhere else in the future for my bagel needs. read more

I've been going to this Manhattan Bagel since I moved to Brick in 2004. Recently I've noticed that a lot of their bagels no longer include as much seasoning as they used to. Is this place under new management? It used to be so amazing, and now the service is still great, don't get me wrong, but it's like they've started skimping out on things. Am I the only one who wants to see the seasoning on an everything bagel or a garlic bagel? I've done a lot of ordering through door dash and a lot of the times I'm missing items, were there substituting things without my permission. I am not the person to leave bad reviews but this place was so disgusting. I saw a huge cockroach that came crawling out of the refrigerator case that a customer almost stepped on. Then, I saw one of the workers throw a milk crate of bagels on the floor, then lifted it up and put it on top of a trash can while picking at the bagels with bare hands. The kitchen area that is visible for customers to see over the counter is horrendous, crumbs and garage everywhere. No wonder there are cockroaches here. Gave them a second chance today and I will not be returning. I've worked in a bagel deli before and understand how busy the mornings can be. Came at 10am on a Sunday. The person behind the counter quickly took our order with no personality. Okay fine. I repeated my bagel (honey whole wheat everything) three times. Waiting in line, there is absolutely no order. There were three Uber eats drivers waiting, which clogged the whole line up. There is no spot for pickups which is terrible-people have no clue where to stand and there's no order at the register. The older woman at the counter is completely rude. My bagel came out and she screamed "PORK ROLL EGG AND CHEESE ON EVERYTHING" and went to hand it to me. I said that I asked for a honey whole wheat everything, the main reason I come here because no other bagel place has it. She threw it back on the counter and the other gentleman who took my order went to hand me the bag again saying it was mine. I took it out and guess what? Still wrong. I wasn't waiting to fight with these people over a bagel so I just took it and left. Nothing is better than bagels from a local family bagel shop, but if you have to get bagels from a chain, Manhattan Bagel is the best option. The setup of the place still gives that local bagel shop feel. They have a good variety of bagels and have plenty of options of what you can do with them. I tend to go for either bacon or pork roll, egg and cheese. Can't beat that sandwich. They have also gotten into the lunch/deli side of things, offering wraps, sandwiches, and salads. Bagels are always burnt on the bottom, and when you ask the lady owner she looks at you like you got two heads. Very nasty! They do a excellent buissness and thats probably why she dont care what a customer might say. I absolutely love this place and USUALLY love coming here, except for today. We thought they closed at 4 but we were driving by at 4:15 and the sign said 'open' so we stopped and the hours on the window said they are open until 5 pm mon-fri. We went inside and an employee behind the counter rolled his eyes. When I asked if they had any 'everything' bagels left, a different employee said what I see is what they have, they close in 20 minutes. It was 4:20 pm at this time. I understand people get annoyed when you go in and they're about to close but I had 40 minutes! They were very unprofessional and I don't plan on returning any time in the hour before closing from now on. Manhattan Bagel has some of the best breakfast sandwiches and wraps around. The croissant sandwich is absolutely delicious. That was my choice this morning. The croissant is flaky and buttery and pairs extremely well with bacon and scrambled eggs. The staff here are very nice and I never have to wait more than a few minutes to get my order. Absolutely horrendous service...I drove past and saw a sign for curbside pickup. Being that my daughter is immune compromised and it was ver busy I decided to cal and place an order. The person who answered the phone who I learned was the manager "Sue" told me that I should come in because they are busy. I was ordering one dozen plain bagels... I explained that it was no rush at all. She was rude and irritable from the start. I called to let her know I was there and that it was again "no rush"... I pulled up to the curb and off to the side because there were patrons sitting and standing and I didn't want my truck to be right next to them (I didn't want to be rude)... "sue comes out and I thanks her repeatedly and wish her a nice day and she walked away commenting that I was parked where she couldn't see me (I was right at the end of their storefront out of the way of the sidewalk where customers were walking up... I have NEVER been more disgusted by a persons attitude as I was today.
