I went with 3 friends, the resort was very clean and the staff were friendly. The houseboat was comfortable and had all the amenities required. We stayed at the Tarpon There was a scary part, we are lucky we don't drink, otherwise I can see people falling into the water and slipping off the walkway because it's extremely narrow. We definitely had some fun getting on and off the houseboat especially with luggage and rain. It takes some non slip shoes and upper arm strength to hold on while the house boat is moving trying to get off or on. It's so well worth it though, we had a blast! This is NOT the place to stay if you like to be catered to, have daily housekeeping, or like someone to bring you breakfast in bed. If you're more low key and to experience new things then this is the place for you! It's like a camper on the water. We stayed in the Tarpon for 4 nights. Staff- very friendly, helpful, and pleasant. Houseboat- comfortable beds, except for in the loft. One of two complained. Bedding was soft. Bathroom- bigger than I expected! The water heater worked well enough for 4 adults to take showers within an hour and a half. The only mirrors in the place are in the bathroom, which made it difficult for the three girls to get ready. Kitchen- adequate for your needs. A pot and pan, microwave, two burners, cutting board, toaster, full size fridge, dishes for 4, and enough cooking utensils. Decks- they are to die for. We thoroughly enjoyed our coffee up there in the mornings and then drinks at night. I highly recommend this place, especially if you like camping. That didn't work out so we came to this place to just store the trailer. Never used the boat launch but yet they're charging us extra anyway. Stay away from these crooks!! Super kitsch, Keys vibe houseboat at the laidback Mangrove Marina. The boat was clean as were the pillows, linens and towels. Michael w/Ace the chihuahua who manages the boats is a character fit for the Keys. With two teenage boys, we had more than enough room and what a view from our rooftop for Sunrise and Sunset. Everyone was friendly and as they are a Marina they had a pool as well as two additional bathroom areas with showers. The house boat hade 1.5 baths but with two adults and two teenage boys the additional showers and bathrooms were a plus. Conveniently located - it's perfect for a quick 3-5 day jaunt to the Keys and the price was right!! We enjoyed our stay and will be back again! read more

My husband and I had gone to the mangrove marina back in October and stayed in one of the smaller houseboats. We had fallen in love with the laid back charm of the community and the relaxing atmosphere. The manager Mike (at that time) was very responsive and friendly. He responded to phone calls after hours, showed us the facility and gave us a tour of the other houseboats, So for our 10th anniversary , we decided we would rent the larger houseboat (Captain's Quarters) and relive our previous experience. However our experience this time was terrible. We got there after hours and found that the houseboat had drifted far enough away from the dock that you had to jump on to it and risk falling. My husband did the jumping and physically had to pull the boat closer so I could step on to it. When we got in, we discovered that the boat had not been cleaned. The bed was unmade, dirty towels were hanging on the bathroom door and there was still coffee in the coffeemaker (see photos). We called the number a few times hoping someone was monitoring the phones and could find us another boat or get the houseboat cleaned up. But of course that did not happen (so this also means if you ahem an emergency at night) you are on your own. We weren't about to sleep in the dirty houseboat so we had to find accommodations somewhere else at the last minute. This was not the way we had wanted to spend our 10th anniversary! Forunately they did refund our money and the marina manager did call the next day and was very apologetic. But I have yet to receive a phone call from the houseboat people or any sort of peace offering - think basic hospitality really needs an upping here read more

Ran the boat down to the keys for the holiday weekend and kept boat here. It's safe and pretty easy to access with a wide enough channel for two boats to navigate. Not a deep channel but we need less then 3'. A little tricky tying up as the fingers are short and they are not floating docks. It's an old keys marina that was fine. Mangrove Marina is a combination Marina/Houseboat facility that needs to work hard at improving its hospitality game. Our 1st year stay was delightful in the small but cozy and well-appointed Sea Biscuit. We couldn't wait to brings our friends back this year. We booked the Manatee houseboat with our friends because of its 2 bathrooms (the description doesn't say that only one of those had a shower). There are showers at the pool area and portable showers in a trailer on the property. The pool water is about 90 degrees and far from refreshing. They could run a hose in there once on a while! The list of issues with Manatee: Problematic bilge pump, don't plan on getting much sleep here. The manager promised to have a look at it. The Mattress busted a spring, they did replace our mattress the same day Cracked wine glasses in the cupboard; bowls and silverware were dirty and had to be washed Discernible water damage in the walls and ceilings, taped together A/C unit is in the lower back price with the view --a real atmosphere killer! We spoke to the manager about the need to Reno Manatee, because many of the other houseboats look better than ours did. Here's the hospitality issue: Mangrove doesn't send a booking confirmation with what unit you booked. If you book here, call them up and demand it, it should include the price and name of the houseboat you booked. Mangrove doesn't like complaints and they get quite prickly and defensive when we came in with our laundry list. Clearly they are in the business of running a marina and not really in the hospitality business. They have a great concept, and as I mentioned before, our initial stay here was nice. But if you have any questions, call and make sure you're getting what you paid for. read more

Great way to be on a boat,especially when family is on a boat..Great bar an food truck...was easy access...

What. An. Amazing. Stay! We love Mangrove Marina, the second we pulled in! We arrive to Key Largo earlier than expected, so we decided to check out the marina , and see if we could get a tour. We went to the main office and was advised that not only could we get a tour, but we could check in right away if our houseboat was ready! At no additional charge! How awesome was that?! We took a walk down the dock, which had several houseboats located on either side, with names like Sand Dollar (ours), the dolphins, and the Conch Shell. They were adorable! There was a bar area on the way, a patio area near the water, full bar, and a ice machine. I felt the parking was ample enough for the amount of houseboats, and had no issues finding a space. The houseboat had it's own screened in patio, and a deck out back for fishing. Manatees even came up to the boat later in the afternoon! But let's talk interiors for a minute. You immediately walk into a loving room area, complete with a full sized couch, chair, living room table, and flat screen tv. Then you enter a dining area with 2 chairs, immediately across from the fully stocked kitchen with a double sink, stove (with electric burner), full sized refrigerator, and a counter/bar area with chairs. The bathroom was big enough for the both of us although it was a little high for someone my height (5'3). There were enough towels for a small army in the bathroom, and a window with beautiful curtains. Speaking to windows, there was ample light everywhere, as the living room had several windows, the bathroom, and the bedroom. The bathroom was definitely the icing on the cake, as it included a full sized, mirrored closet, queen sized bed, two nightstands, a tall dresser, several bedside lamps, and a flat screen tv. There was also a sliding glass door to the back of the boat, which was loaded with fishing supplies. The customer service was amazing, with the 2 women who helped us giving us a book about our boat, locals things to do, and a coupon book. One of the ladies even came back and gave personal recommendation. I'm so glad we chose this houseboat for our thanksgiving weekend. Beware! Stayed at Mangrove Marina Aqua Lodge in October for our anniversary. Read the reviews and description before booking. When we arrived I asked where the restaurant and bar were. "Oh, we don't have one". Well it was advertised that you do. Paid over $300/night for the houseboat we stayed in. When we walked in the door, the smell was so bad it was hard to breathe. Whatever they cleaned with left a horrible smell and apparently was covering up other odors. One of the first things we noticed was the rotted and moldy wood around the galley window. That night we had rain and the rain actually ran in at the window (not drip!). I had to put a towel down so the water wasn't running everywhere. Then we discovered the soffit over the sink was drooping. Upon further inspection, the upper cabinets were full of mold and rotted wood and the rain was actually running off the soffit above the sink. The next 2 nights were windy and they had a fender at the roof of the houseboat, above the bedroom window, and it rubbed (like nails on a chalkboard) all night. Finally at 4:00 a.m. I said I'm out of here. We left after only 3 nights of a week long stay. I will give them credit that they did reimburse our last 2 nights in full. There is NO restaurant nor food truck on premises nor bar. There are three janky, nasty grills near a vending machine for use! Woo-hoo! Not a chance would I use those. You cannot swim or fish off the back of the houseboat. No hair dryer usage on houseboat. The metal curtain rods fell off the top of back slider doors and hit the top of my head twice, and the handle in the head's sink fell off. I should have seen the signs (after the box fan or when, as manager was showing us kitchenette upon our arrival), when he touched the small, coil stove burner, which was about to come undone, and he laughed about it..Not that I am cooking a meal there because Keys' restaurants are fabulous, for tge most part. Oh, by the way- no cooking/grilling fish on houseboat or a $250 charge! God forbid someone catches fish in the Keys and wants to saute it on the small stove! I could go on and on. I don't mind roughing it, but I don't want to have to bring a tool box or my own fan for my stay. For 2 nights and the extra charge to use ramp, the cost came out to close to $1000. Will never return. It is a shame because the place has potential. But I will be posting and warning all my Keys friends who need extra/space accommodations for their out of town friends, as well as my Miami, Melbourne and Birmingham network (who wanted to hear how this place turned out), to not waste their time or money on this place. read more

We were looking for something a little different in lodging and this seemed interesting. Our boat the sandollar had a screened in front porch and a back deck for fishing. We were able to watch a beautiful waterfront sunset right from our back deck. The houseboat had a fully stocked kitchen, with fridge and stove for cooking needs. Our queen size bed was pretty comfortable with quality linens. Our two kids stayed in the loft area which had 2 single beds (they thought the comfort level of beds was just okay). The houseboat itself was very clean and neat. The marina also has a great pool which can be used by houseboat guests. The houseboat next to us had a light glass bottom on their back porch which was cool as the fish were drawn to the light. A great stay if your looking for lodging thats a little different. read more

I spent a week staying at Mangrove Marina recently...I stayed on the Cozy and then on the Sea Horse when a few more people joined me. Both houseboats were clean and comfortable. The Cozy is perfect for a couple and the Sea Horse would be great for a small family. The Sea Horse has both top and lower decks for sunset watching. There are showers on the boats as well as a separate guest building with laundry facilities and showers. The salt water pool was lovely; outdoor showers right there too. The marina is home to a small restaurant/bar 'Fin & juice' which is a perfect place to chill, sit by the firepit, play a game and have a beverage. Young energetic owners hustle and work hard to please. The vibe of the marina is laid-back; employees are friendly, staff in the rental portion are extremely helpful and nice. There isn't a lot of interaction with the folks living at the marina on their vessels, but I found everyone to be polite and friendly. Kids, dogs and a few roosters make this a welcoming and unpretentious diamond in the rough. There is an amazing little French cafe a quick walk away with delicious croissants and fresh coffee. Don't miss Cafe Moka. Overall, Mangrove Marina is a great place to experience some warm Florida weather and relax. read more

There is no one to call if you have a problem after 5pm. We got in late and the marine toilet stunk so bad that my wife got a headache and had to go to bed and my plans for the night went in the toilet :/ The houseboat was beautiful and it was great that we had a room and our boys could sleep up in the loft. Although there was almost no vertical room at all up there and they kept hitting their heads on the exposed wooden beams that were inches from their faces. It was kind of ridiculous. The first morning, we woke up to sunshine and fresh breezes off the water. Yay! The second morning, the two losers in the houseboat next to us (literally 4 feet away- Believe the reviews that complain about people being right on top of you.) were talking and hacking up their lungs at full volume at 5:05am and their smoke flooded into our room. They weren't overnight guests either. I think they were there for the winter. And they just didn't care. Neither did management when we reported them while we were leaving. And they said they couldn't give us any money back because we already got such a good deal on it. $180/night didn't seem like a good deal for that. We were offered a discount next time we want to stay there. We don't. read more

This was our "Wonderful houseboat getaway in the beautiful Florida Keys " We recently returned from 5 days in our own beautiful houseboat in Tavernier. Surrounded by the amazing peaceful nature we had our own floating hotel room. Fully furnished kitchenette, comfortable bed, internet and nicely decorated living area we detached from our busy life and enjoyed the beautiful keys. Our houseboat had a top deck for tanning or for an amazing view of sunsets and sunrises which we greatly enjoyed and a back deck were we had our jet ski. The staff at Mangrove; Heidi, Victoria and Todd made sure that our needs were met and provided us with wonderful customer service. It's a full service marina with houseboats of many different sizes. Great getaway with the boat and family. Came across them online and rented a house boat for a few days. The house boat was clean and ready for us. Very cool wildlife. The kids got see a manatee and nurse sharks from the docks. When we took the boat out we where greeted with a pod of dolphins. Would go back again. Houseboats are interesting but run down, with totally broken blinds and bathroom curtains that leave a 6" gap at the bottom no privacy from neighbors, no daily maid service as advertised, killed 4 roaches so far, had to ask for a coffee pot, no hangers in closet, 1 glass in cabinet had to ask to get another, bedroom curtains are a foot too long dragging on the floor, shows lack of management interest. Boat we were assigned was trashed by previous renters and not cleaned for us, so lucky the on duty lady was not leaving for 4 more minutes otherwise we would have had no place to sleep after traveling 9 hours, and paying ahead...don't believe the other 5* reviews... still can't get wifi to work, but compliments to on duty lady Victoria for being so helpful read more

I was using this marina to keep my boat when staying at Ocean Pointe resort. Believe or not they do not allow a boat with jet engine to cross the gate!!! Anyway the marina is nice, people every friendly, cost reasonable: $20 per day, gate locked, place to wash your boat. They also have ramp but it is on the Gulf side. It is better to drive 1 mile to Harris park. read more

We wanted to get away for a weekend and found The Mangrove Marina on Home Away listing houseboats available. Since it is totally different from a regular hotel we decided to book one for a weekend. Upon arrival we were given a different houseboat to the one I had booked. We stayed on the Tarpon which was newer and more roomy. The Tarpon was very nice, clean with a very comfortable bed and everything we need to enjoy our stay. Heidi who gave us the tour was great, gave us lots of information about the area and what to see. There is a pool and bar on the premises. I highly recommend The Mangrove Marina. The houseboats are well anchored so do not move. Kids would love the loft. We did not take our dogs but there were others with their dogs staying there. read more

We had an awesome stay at the mangrove marina! The dolphin houseboat was such a fun place to stay for our family. Victoria and Todd were very friendly and helpful. The place was clean and had everything we needed. The master bed was super comfy and the kids had a blast in the loft. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of hot water after several people showering. There is also a bathhouse available which was nice when we were trying to make a sunset dinner and needed to get ready quick. They have a laundry room if you need to wash just bring quarters $2.50 per load washer and dryer. We had a 17 ft boat we were able to pull up right to the back of the boat, they also have slips if you have a bigger boat. Kayaks and paddle boards are great in the marina! The pool is wonderful and much needed on a hot day! We had the opportunity to chat with a few residents while cooling off. The restaurant was not open, but will be up and running soon from what I heard. Overall an awesome time in the keys. We will be back! read more

We stayed down there for a destination wedding in the keys and it was incredible! We will able to bring our boat and kayak around the mangroves. The service and warmth from the staff was incredible. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mangrove Marina. We stayed in a renovated houseboat that was fabulous! Enough room for 5 adults. Loved the back and top decks. Great customer service. Loved being able to keep our boat in the water a couple slips down the entire time. Free to launch our boat and keep it on the dock. What a deal! We will definitely be back. It would be great if the marina sold bait and other items, like some drinks, food and toiletries.. We heard a small store was being added in the future though. I'm honestly hesitant to even give this place one star, but Yelp doesn't allow negative stars =]. I don't even know where to begin with this place. I have never given a 1-star rating to any business in my life, and I am quite big on Yelp. I am usually a very understanding person, who is empathetic to things falling through the cracks, people just being human, and mistakes being made. But my experience with Mangrove Marina was an inexplicable one, but I will do my best. Upon arriving at the location, I was greeted with falling down houses surrounding the area, equipped with trash and filth as a bonus. The property was advertised as having a spacious houseboat with new amenities, and a pool to take a dip in. Uh...more like cesspool. Upon check in, they didn't even have my reservation name right. When we arrived on the houseboat itself, there was barely even any room to breathe. THIS HOUSEBOAT IS NOT AS ADVERTISED. It's not even big enough for two people. The bathroom was absolutely grimy, with a dirty shower curtain, and a bathmat that was COVERED in brown stains. I told myself that they were just cigarette burns, to make myself feel better that it could have potentially been human feces. There were both BUGS and HAIR in the bed, which I might add- did not even have sheets on it. The wifi did not work. The tv did not work. The screen door was broken. We had little to no kitchen utensils. Upon contacting the property manager in hopes of solving this issue and possibly remedying this nightmare, there was no response. Probably because this was not the first time he had received such complaints, as I read another Yelp reviewer complain about similar issues. I seriously cannot make this stuff up. I originally was going to stay for 2 nights, but left after one- as it was impossible to get any sleep on a bed that had no mattress pad, and a houseboat that made a clanking sound ALL NIGHT LONG. Not to mention the feeling of bugs in the bed and scratchy sheets (once they brought them to me) Upon check out, there were zero apologies for the condition of the houseboat itself. However, there was a kind and understanding comment along the lines of "well, this is what you paid for". Paying $250 for the first night was understandable. We stayed there so we should pay. However, for the second night for which we were NOT staying, we requested a full refund, to which the manager of the company (Bob) said, "we can only give you $150 back". You're kidding me, right? Victoria and Bob clearly are NOT interested in customer service, and just interested in money. I repeat, unless you are looking for a BEYOND WHITE TRASH experience, do not stay here. If you are into bugs in the bed, filth, and laying awake in bed all night listening to a houseboat hitting a dock? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE. I am outraged at this experience and to be honest, it is not even about the money. The customer service was the most disappointing part of it all. They should truly be ashamed. If you have children, please stay away from here. I can only imagine the bacteria throughout the entire place. If you are coming to the Keys for a vacation, there are plenty of other places to stay. Granted, they are mostly old, as that is how the Keys is, but they will definitely be CLEAN, and you will hopefully be treated as more than a peasant. Rant over. read more

I have used Mangrove Marina over the past 15 years and a very unprofessional and disrespectful experience which I heard has become common for using the boatyard. I was told after my experience from many vendors in the area, they hear this daily and avoid the boatyard. When I asked the vendors what I did, they all told me of stories of gross overcharging and one was surprised I still went there. I had to do bottom paint my boat and used them this past week. In 15 years of using Mangrove Marina, all I asked for is a pull and a storage rack to paint, my invoice was about $75/day all in or about $225 for three days. The owner Bob has raised the rates to ridiculousness and with no notice he presents me with a $561 invoice, more than twice. Understand, this is to take a boat out of the water and put on a wooded rack and put it back in, no work, no waxing, nothing. No warning, no notice. He has raised rates from $6 a foot to $10 to haul, $78 a day for storage from $20 (I have past invoices) and now a contractor fee of $50 to have outdrive oil changed. Realizing that I could have hired the complete job for $750 it made no sense for me to work three solid days. The paint alone is $300 a gallon, so doing it myself it was well over $1200. My advise is to look elsewhere which is sad or clearly review the rates they charge prior and get in writing, doing business there has changed. read more
