We stumbled upon this place and what a cute little gem. It's very clean. They have many options that are already premade or you can make your own salad. We went to the salad bar and just got a bunch of options. The staff was helpful in helping us decide what to do The kale salad, the octopus salad, the quinoa, salad, and all of them were delicious and my friend got the steak sandwich or the bread was very fresh steak was well done and all the sauces that it came with. Have walked past this café style eatery many times and decided to go in and check it out to my surprise I encountered they have many self service items to pick up if on the go as well as a hot and cold salad bar. The items I tried were a pecan pie, which was delicious especially their crust was so thin and buttery, and I wish they would have that on their menu all year. I also tried the tomato soup which had eggplant and Parmesan cheese, a beautiful combination. The space is accommodating from small groups as well as large groups with a good amount of tables, my only complaint is that there is one restroom. I like Mangia, the food and selection have been good, and the service reasonably fast. Though it can be crowded at times, bordering on crazy, it's a great place to get good, "faster" food. Some of this is made earlier in the day and then warmed up, as was my panini on this visit: RUSTICO PANINO: ham, cheddar, tomatoes, mushroom aioli, on house-made focaccia. I had this grilled, and it was substantial and tasty. This is just one of the many choices available here, they have numerous counters (stations) where you can custom order breakfast, lunch or an early dinner. They have limited seating, though I've always managed to score one of their small tables. They offer an extensive takeout and are close to the park, so I'm going to try that on my next visit. Food really good. Service nope. Again another place that thinks vegan and gluten free are the same. Nope. Floors were dirty, cashier not friendly at all. We sat down and a fire alarm went off and no staff seemed worried. We left and ate our food in our hotel room. I had gotten a salad bar salad and hubby got a gluten free roasted chicken wrap that he loved. We both got gluten free cookies for dessert and they were excellent. I've been thinking of Mangia often since moving out of Manhattan because they were truly my IDEAL lunch/dinner spot, and I ate there many more times since my initial review. It's perfect for office lunches, catering orders, and they have an array of healthier and dietary-restriction friendly options. Gotta go for breakfast AND lunch/dinner to experience both amazing menus. I see some of the reviews are ridiculous imo and Mangia deserves way higher than their current rating. Daily specials menu of soups, apps, sides, entrees, pastas, etc along with seasonal desserts/dishes/business collaborations. Currently (Spring 2025) they have a fun collab with Floratorium -- the cakes with floral arrangements I saw online are gorgeous! Yes, I literally visit the "Order Now" section of their site because I appreciate a restaurant that posts photos of items and they have a photo for EVERYTHING. Photographer on point every time! I've tried a wide assortment from both menus but my favorites are the grilled salmon entree w/ 2 sides and ALL of the vegetarian & pescatarian soups so far. Omg... Clearly homemade, each with an amazing depth of flavor. Soups I've had: spicy corn, butternut squash, vegan cauliflower, broccoli cheddar, potato leek (I believe), moroccan lentil, roasted tomato w/ eggplant, shrimp bisque. A piece of baguette on the side is a must for this European -- theirs is perfectly crispy yet chewy. I didn't realize how often they added new items/switched up items until I looked earlier! Huge fan of their retail items too (balsamic and oil, bento box, tote, mugs, and more available). + unique smoothies and pressed juices all day. Their website is also awesome because they have a Recipe Book available so you can recreate the food sold in store. Super cool b/c who else does that?! Come and support this LOCAL NYC business (with a few diff locations) that's been around for quite some time now, and keeps refreshing/revamping to remain a gem amongst the hectic and often lousy midtown dining scene. Other Recommendations: any desserts especially the flourless chocolate or Signature cookies, Blue Power smoothie, Caesar salad, roasted teriyaki salmon salad, penna alla vodka (super basic but great), vegetarian pizza. This is where people who actually have a real job come for lunch. My first full day back in New York. While in the area around noon, I saw a lot of these red/gold/white bags and I was curious where they were from. Lucky for me, I was on 57th/5th, so it was a very short walk over to my destination. Upon walking in, it was busy as it was during lunchtime, and there were many areas to look at but I was simply trying to stay out of the way. I checked it out online and noticed there were other locations, one where I was planning on being the following day. I enjoyed my lunch so much at the Soho location that I returned here the next day since I was down the way again over at MoMA. I zeroed in on the hot takeaway bowls (penne vodka w/ chicken). Mad respect for those quick and efficient cashiers; I encountered a line several people deep but these girls were on it, ushering people up and getting them out. One lone stool at the counter, I felt as though I blended in, if even just for an hour. Seeing commuters rush by-many with this bag in hand-made me miss the city even more. Food here seems to be reliable, and it's not very expensive. I also like the Seagram's ginger ale 'skinny' cans I haven't seen anywhere else. Going to dread leaving since I won't be back again during my stay, but I look forward to adding them onto my restaurant roster next visit! read more

Bad experience they don't understand English wanted my sandwich wrapped in tinfoil and couldn't do it and they have no half-and-half. Food is horrible and prices are very high and quality is low. No half/half for a coffee place is pretty much a big deal. Spend the money and have it for your clients. I've been going to Managia for over 15 years and it's an overpriced and not worth it. The reviews here do not fairly represent how great or how popular Mangia is! It's hands-down one of the best lunch spots in the area. I have been getting lunch here a couple times a week for the past year and, even when it's busy (and, it does get busy!), I don't think I have ever had to wait more than a few minutes to order a sandwich or line up to pay. The staff are all efficient and friendly and the food and ingredients are fresh and high quality. They have great cabinet food at the front but if you go to the back, you can get any sandwiches or salads (or hot food) made-to-order. A definite favorite spot. read more

I love Mangia but got a rude awakening when I asked for butter with my croissant. I was charged over a dollar for a single pat of butter. Imagine if I wanted two. Nor did the counter person alert me to the charge until I asked. The croissant was costly enough at approx $5.00 -- (tasty and worth it) -- but I'd be willing to pay more with the butter inclusive rather than feel as if I'm being nickel and dimed to it. Mangia is terrific, and I'll be back, but charging for butter was not a great experience for this customer. read more

They have all sorts of stuff here. I originally thought this was a coffee shop only but I was wrong. I got some carrot cake and yogurt with fruit. Everything was good and tasted like they were made fresh. In the back they also have omelettes and hot breakfast stuff. It reminds of a higher end deli/market where they serve breakfast/lunch/dinner that are ubiquitous to nyc. They do have Upstairs seating but unfortunately closed because of covid. I fell in love with Mangia the instant I entered and never turned back -- it's now been about 3 years since I've been dining here. Mangia 57th is spacious given its upstairs and downstairs seating area. Out of all locations, it has the biggest antipasto bar. The catering is prepped upstairs and it's a nice thing to watch. The management is always on site, and the staff is friendly -- they remember faces. It gets quite busy during lunchtime due to midtown business hours. Food is always good. However, in comparison to the other locations, the salad makers are less giving with the protein portions. Plus, the bathroom is tight and typically 1/2 are out of order for the females. One thing I have noticed as well is that the online Mangia app doesn't have the teriyaki salmon as a salad protein option - hopefully this will be updated soon! read more

Mangia is a pretty decent lunch spot in Midtown where you can quickly pick up a tasty bite whether it be order on the spot and prepared or by per pound salad bar style. Kind of like a slightly upgraded Bread & Butter. Came here with a coworker recently to pick up lunch and there was a healthy amount of people for the current times. Went to the back where they had the pizza and entree/meal section to order and went with the short rib and shroom pappardelle daily special ($15). Pricier but nothing crazy for your everyday work lunch and on that note, you'd pay close~ for a relatively less satisfying salad bowl with meat. The meal itself was prepared pretty well though - nice amounts of short ribs, mushrooms and pappardelle and tastes great for a quick on the spot order. We needed sustenance before crossing the park, so we shared a prosciutto and mozzarella sandwich on olive bread with some really excellent roasted peppers, a piece of layer cake with marshmallow frosting and a cup of coffee. All I kept saying was, "I wish there was a place like this across the street from where I work." The whipped cauliflower wasn't whipped at all. It was riced... in some type of cream sauce. The brussel sprouts were definitely steamed as there was no crunch/crisp to them whatsoever.
