The baristas are friendly, patient, and helpful. I had the spicy iced chai with oat milk that rivaled the best iced chai I've had. I was was certain it was homemade and when I complemented the barista, they shared the secret to their recipe! The blueberry scone was baked just hours before. It was packed with flavor of Maine blueberries and the scone itself was more moist than a traditional scone. They also offer vegan breakfast sandwiches. I couldn't resist the nature themed gift shop and bought some "bird nerd" tote bags, a Hideaway/E.B. White t-shirt, a picture book and nonfiction book about exploring the outdoors. The Hideaway is such a wonderful addition to Rangeley. A solid five stars--can't wait to go back.

Today's breakfast consisted of a vegetarian scramble, Swiss sausages, fresh fruit, and toast with strawberry preserves and apricot preserves. We ordered cappuccinos to go with that. Although the breakfast was not especially creative, it was a good, solid breakfast at a bargain price of $8.95 Canadian ( around $7 US). The lunch menu looked real interesting. We can't wait to try it. In talking with the owner, we realized that we had met at the Tomifobia restaurant around 8-10 years ago. He was helping out there for a while. It's a small world.

Started with lattes, mine was a dirty chai (chai with a shot of espresso). Never had that before, interesting combo, but not for purists :) We each had the crèpes salées, savoury crepes filled with asparagus, cheese and ham, with hollandaise. Oh the ham was so good, big pieces and wonderfully textured. We each added a poached egg, because why not. Potatoes and a small fruit cup also on the plate. A maple butter for the fruit was absolutely amazing, but no way to eat all of it and I felt bad for the wastage of something so delicious. Would return yo try a grilled cheese sandwich, of which there are so many to choose from and seemed a hot item coming out of the kitchen. Service had zero flaws and was quick and efficient. About $30 each on the bill with tip, a very satisfying experience.
