If I could give 10,000 stars for the excellent food, ambiance and service, I would do it, but five…read morestars is all they allow on Yelp, so let me just say it's beyond five stars!
Especially Nathan Gimeno, the manager, who is an exceptionally hardworking young man who made us feel so welcome and made sure our every need was met, making us feel very special in a very crowded and busy restaurant, not once, but twice! His genuine warmth and attention to detail are what make him a standout. His recommendations on the menu were very tasty.
We also enjoyed our server, Kiki, who did a great job.
We went there two nights in a row when we recently stayed the weekend at the beautiful, stunningly reimagined Pier 66 Hotel, which deserves its own 10,000 star review!
The first night my husband and I shared the Greek salad and cold Mezze, a selection of their hummus, olive tapenade, babaganouche (sp?) and other delicious things I can't pronounce or spell. Served with warm, fresh out of the oven pita bread, so good! (I mislabeled it as felafel in the photo, my bad. lol.)
Then I had the lamb kabobs and he had the NY Strip with roasted asparagus, both delicious. I had the brown rice as a side which has Pine nuts and black currants in it. Loved it. Roasted cauliflower, not so much.
Nathan was very sweet to not charge us for it. We were too stuffed to have dessert.
The next night we had another couple with us. They got the hummus and smoked wahoo fish dip which they shared with us. Delicious! My husband got the Greek salad again, his favorite (!) and shared that with us, it's such a nice authentic Greek salad and an ample amount to share. He was a little upset that we made him share it with us because he wanted to eat it all by himself. Next time! Lol. I ordered the calamari and shared that with everyone at the table and everybody loved it. Very light and tasty.
For our entrées, my husband got the fish stew (awesome) and I got the lollipop lamb chops, which they call rack of lamb on the menu. They were cooked perfectly, medium rare, as I had asked. And so good!! Our friends both had the chicken and rice dish and loved it.
Again, everyone was so stuffed we couldn't possibly think of dessert. But we ended up going to the Pier Top and had after dinner drinks and beautiful little desserts up there.
I can highly recommend Sotogrande whether you are staying at the hotel or not. Their "doggy bag" looks like a high end couture shopping bag. No one will ever suspect what's really inside!
