A few weeks ago, I discovered that a branch has finally opened in Makati. At the streetside section of Glorietta 2, directly facing Landmark, it's hard to miss the place. What with a conspicuously designed name printed on its glass window and right above the entrance. Finding a seat is also not a problem as the dining area is huge and there are plenty of tables and chairs. I liked Wingstop even before I tasted their food. The reason: Their food choices are few. You'll not be overwhelmed by different options or types of food. Their menu revolves around chicken wings. Since their Makati branch is fairly new, I imagined that customers would take a long time to decide what to order. But it didn't take long for the people ahead of me to finish their transactions at the counter. It could be that everyone had already tried Wingstop and knew what to eat or it could be that 7:00pm is not a good time to eat wings (are you kidding me?). Since I was on my way home, I decided to have my orders in a takeaway bag. I simply wanted to sample their wings so I got a 7-piece order of wings with two flavors - Garlic Parmesan and Louisiana Rub. Both taste great but I liked the Louisiana Rub better because of its sweet and mild spicy flavor.

I consider Buffalo wings to be one of my favorite foods, so when someone declares this place to be one of the best wings in town, I had to find out for myself. Frankie's set-up is like the typical wings diner: homey and pleasantly cluttered. I had the garlic parmesan as recommended by the waiter, and the Frankie's Classic Buffalo. As it was the one flavor that took the restaurant's name as its title, the Frankie's classic was definitely the better order of the two. Everything I've been hearing about the place was right; this might be the best Buffalo wings place in the city! The Frankie's classic is a masterpiece, I don't know how many kinds of Buffalo wings I've tried in my life, but this time I think I've found the perfect original no frills wings.

Going further, some places would inevitably prepare the dish better than most. To me, this is Frankie's New York Buffalo Wings. I usually head to Frankie's after a night run. This could get as late as midnight. The place is open until 2 am, and by this time the horrible parking situation at the City Golf Compound would already be more manageable. (Of course, provided it's a not a weekend.) I always get the Classic Buffalo (spicy) with blue cheese dip, and ask for more blue cheese dips. (They charge extra). I like the chicken because of the way the skin has been cooked to a crisp, all the while keeping the meat rather tender; I think it's breaded. The sauce is spicy yet with just the right bite, meaning there is a dimension to the flavor and not just plain crazy-fiery. Like, I can still taste the butter and the vinegar all coming nicely together with the one-two punch of the hot sauce. Oh-yeah! The best part is you don't even have to worry about getting your hands dirty because they give away disposable gloves. To be honest, I don't really use it since I am used to working with utensils in dissecting my chicken, but I just think it's rather thoughtful of them. As my personal motto goes: it's the useless stuff that builds character.

The innovative stall of Bad Bird sticked to the modernity of the look and upscale food options. I go for the plate of corn and coleslaw for P390 and with an additional sweet potato waffles for P95. The umami goodness justified the steep price points. The chicken is seasoned thoroughly and the skin is immensly crispy. You can choose any spice level from safe, spicy, and chemical. I take calculated risks and the safe level is enough for me. As a devotee of anything fried chicken, Bad Bird lives up to the hype. Whether you are here for lunch in between work or for a dinner over drinks, each plate serves it purpose for being a flavourful meal. Bad Bird opened a branch in SM Megamall fashion hall with upcoming stalls in Serendra in BGC, UP Town Center, and Robinson's Ermita. There's umami in almost every city in Manila

And that's not the only thing I love here at Flaming Wings. It's called the Flaming Wings for a reason. Their chicken wings, two thumbs up! I prefer their chicken tenders though. Flavour wise, there's no difference between the two. It's just the bones. And me like it when I could just pop it straight ahead into my mouth. Delish!

I had to wait a good 30 minutes before a table was free for the staff to clean and tell us to take that table. We got the pecho (chicken breast) and garlic rice, and I have to say, it definitely was good. Hot off the charcoal grill, it tasted best when you add the chicken oil to the rice. Chicken was juicy and was the best I had in Manila (I did try other inasal places before I made that final decision) They give you a box of gloves if you want to eat with your hands but will also give you utensils. Overall, it was a great meal that I did come back a week later at 1130 am, it was still packed but got a table that was open so no wait. If you're tired of the same-old 1-piece or 2-piece chicken, why not get yourself a 4-piece meal?…read more I am a big fan of Chicken Chicken's food. It's this small karinderia-looking place along Estrada Street, a block away from Benilde Hotel. If you see the Santisima Trinidad Church, you've gone too far. This small place hasn't changed a bit since I was in college--it still has the monoblock chairs, the big wide open window which will make you feel like someone would serenade you while you're eating (that's true though during Christmas), and of course, their food. Chicken Chicken doesn't give you a lot of options on their menu but they sure make up for it for with the quality and quantity of each serving. Believe it or not, they serve 4 pieces of chicken for every order. That'll already last you until dinner! Aside from the chicken, another bestseller is their Liempo. Don't forget to dip it in their signature sauce! For all meals, you can choose to have plain rice or order the garlic rice which I love. Last tip: the owner manages the restaurant herself. She may get cranky at times so bring a lot of patience. I promise you, the food will totally make up for it!

Sounds like the recipe for an adventure, yeah? Exactly what I thought, so I hitched up my pants and ventured so far from the safety of DLSU's Taft Avenue, I almost cried. The restaurant itself blends so well with its residential surroundings that I kept passing it without realizing it was there. After a few instances of taking out my phone, pretending I got a text while I inconspicuously turn around, I found Chicken Chicken and its owner who is always a wee bit short-tempered. It's not her fault, there are people constantly streaming into the place. It's her against about a thousand people every day -- even Ghandi would be like SHUT UP I KNOW YOUR ORDER'S COMING WAIT. The name 'Chicken Chicken' should be an indication that their flagship meal consists of two large as heck pieces of chicken and their signature dipping sauce. Be prepared to shell out extra for two (or seven) more cups of rice if you're gonna enjoy this fully, but since the meal itself is less than a hundred pesos, it shouldn't be a problem.

The crowd is comprised mostly of twenty-somethings and foreigners (like moi!); if such things don't deter you, it's virtually impossible not to enjoy the excellent food, strong drinks and convivial vibe. Given Senor Pollo's reputation, it was a foregone conclusion that the food ordered by my friends and I that evening would contain several chicken selections. While the chicken here isn't quite as good as the original pollo loco, it's still completely legit ;-) Another of my favorites here are the quesadillas. Additionally, they have several very popular non-Mexican items, including fries and Buffalo wings. While the food selections are spot on, it's the drinks that make this place so popular. Like any other wings place, they offer it in 1/2 dozen of 1 dozen with one order between 180 - 300. You can also combine different flavors of wings if you decide to get 1 dozen. We tried their Garlic Parmesan and Hickory Barbeque since both of us are not fans of spicy wings. The size of their wings is average, I've had other wings bigger than the one from WingMan though their flavor was pretty impressive. Aside from Chicken Wings, they also have healthy meals such as salads in their menu and also offers a wide selection of burgers. My boyfriend tried their Cowboy Burger, which was their Texas-inspired sandwich with BBQ sauce, bacon and caramelized onions with fries to go with. I got to take a bite out of this burger and found it especially good! I've always been a fan of anything with BBQ on it so I was happy to find that theirs measured up to my BBQ standards. They also have local and imported beers that perfectly complement your chicken wings. They also have cocktails for the ladies. One drawback of this place is that it's quite small (around 40 people can fit in) and parking is a big issue.
