We discussed the photo in detail, including the fact that the color becomes significantly lighter toward the ends and that the blonde has a soft, vanilla tone. I specifically mentioned three separate times during the appointment that I wanted the ends to be blonde. Unfortunately, the final result does not resemble the reference photo or what we discussed. The ends are not blonde at all, they are essentially brown, and the balayage effect I was specifically asking for is not there AT ALL. What is especially frustrating is that this was not a case of an unclear request. I showed a photo, we discussed the color and placement, and I repeatedly emphasized the blonde ends. I genuinely don't understand how the final result ended up so far from what was communicated. I was also going to dinner afterward and showed a photo of how I wanted my hair styled. That request was not followed either. I left feeling extremely disappointed with both the color and the styling. I understand that hair color can vary depending on the starting point and that no two results are identical, but this was not a minor difference from the reference, it was a completely different result from what I specifically requested. For the price of a full balayage which I paid over price, I expected much more attention to the details we discussed.
