Driving range and sofa. This is the FSR policy.

This golf course is belongs to Four seasons Resorts Lanai. This course is built on lava outcroppings, designed by Jack Nicklaus. This signature course features three holes perched on cliffs, enlisting the Pacific Ocean as a water hazard. All the tee ground is faced with bushes or rocks or cliffs. This course has the five-tees, so normal golfers and competitive golfer play with equal status. This concept challenges the best golfers - tee shots over natural gorges and ravines must be precise. You can enjoy the blue ocean views form all the hole. The green was well kept and like velvet. Playing at this course will be your precious experiences. We played here at 2nd May. Tee time was 10:am by our decision, but at the finishing hole, it was little bit hot. I recommend you to start earlier. If you can get up early.

All I have to say is WOW. We are staying at Sensei, but Melissa the pre-arrival specialist reached out to us to schedule activities for our week in Lana'i. We are so happy we booked half a round of golf at the beach resort. If you enjoy difficulty and scenic views, book the back 9. If you love sunsets, book the back 9 for sunset. Originally, we booked the front 9 on a Wednesdayfor 10am, but heard how amazing the back 9 was. We switched to the back 9 and so happy we did! A half round on a Wednesday morning is about $177. Transportation: Inter hotel transportation leaves from Sensei on the half hour to the beach resort and every hour from the beach resort to sensei. However, we asked to arrive early via the Tesla drivers, so we he could practice the driving range and the green. We brought our own balls and tees or you have to pay for balls (we brought 10- hello, hazards!) He rented clubs for about $55. The pro shop is great from complimentary snacks, coffee, to golf shoes, visors, hats and swag! Beverage cart- Beverage cart stays at the green . On the turn at 9, complimentary lemondes and you can buy alcohol - full stocked bar. The beverage cart has an assortment of beers, wines, liquor, cutwater, and juneshine. Jesse was working at the beverage cart and was stellar. He was extremely attentive and helpful! The service from check-in to finish is phenomenal. The course is open from Saturday-Sunday (closed on Mondays for maintenance.) Bobby, the assistant golf pro, was fantastic from getting the cart and clubs prepared to handing us a cold towel and a bag tag. Bring an appetite - Views is next door for lunch. I suggest making reservations. If you book the sunset back nine - try Nobu or one-forty for dinner reservations. At the end of the day, we couldn't recommend this course, ambience, views or the customer service any more. As a solely Sensei guest, next time we would like to make a day out of it. Play the back 9, bring a beach bag, lay out in the first-come first-serve beach chairs and then hike to sweetheart rock. Mahalo!

Pulled up and bag drop was there and just took our bags. Lots of room for improvement. We have been…read moreto places like Paiute GC in Las Vegas and the bag drop makes you feel like you are a pro. A good morning and welcome to the GC is better than what we got. Not to be harsh, just comparing for the review. Hence 4star too instead of 5. Layout of the course is great. Elevation changes etc. Holes are undulated. Pro shop attendants were nice and attentive. Sherry and Elaine were great. Golf carts are newish. Electric. With GPS. The pins were not updated in the gps. I have been to cheaper courses that had this done properly. So not sure what happened there. So that added to the 4star rating as well. Driving range is good for all clubs. But they make you walk over there. About 100 yards. Then you get a small basket of about 25 balls. It is complimentary and enough to warm up. Plus there were extra from other golfers where they didn't hit all of the balls. There were about 8 mats if I remember correctly. We did not wait at all to hit. Starter was good. Golf course condition was amazing considering two huge storms just came through. Cannot believe they got this place cleaned up that quickly. We only were cart path only on 3 holes. And those holes looked fine. Probably too soft. Cooler on the cart was filled with ice and two complimentary bottled waters. So the bag drop redeem themselves a little. We appreciated it. There is a drink cart. And she came around at least twice in our round. So that is great. There are no direction signs on a couple holes. Like going to 16, there is a message, but we did not know which side of the street. I think hole 6 was the other one. There are ball cleaners/trash cans, and water stations. That was great. Did not see any ground under repair anywhere on the course. There were however more than a few sand traps that had mud in the bottom of the trap. Not the whole trap, just a 8-10' circle sometimes. We just moved the ball. So some traps need grooming. Others were groomed so they are obviously working it. I think thats it. This place is a 5 star GC. Just had a couple storms.

They allow fivesomes on the course. Very slow play…read more Some greens at Poa grass. Disappointed for the price

Unfortunately, the customer service was among the worst I've ever experienced. The staff were rude and unhelpful. Our cart broke down on the third hole, and when I called for assistance, the attendant began yelling at me. When they finally brought a replacement cart, they parked it in a non-driving zone and then scolded us for driving near the green--exactly where they had left it. The pace of play was painfully slow, with groups stacked up in front and behind us. To top it off, staff yelled at us at the end for parking the cart "in the wrong area," even though we left it right next to the sign marked "Cart Return." The course itself was average at best--similar to a municipal course--but with premium pricing and very poor service. The Gold Course, on the other hand, was a completely different experience--truly a 180. The course was in great shape, and the staff were friendly and professional. They greeted us warmly, helped load our bags, and gave a helpful overview before we started. While play was still a bit slow, everyone we encountered was courteous and pleasant. Overall, I'd avoid the Blue Course but highly recommend the Gold Course for its excellent condition and outstanding customer service.

The communication with Sensei before and during our trip was terrible and pretty much non-existent. We stay at Four Seasons resorts often and never have I had an issue with communication like Sensei. The massage tables had cheap sheets that were scratchy; not what I would expect for a $700 massage. The room temperature never got below 70. The miso cod at the restaurant was extremely fishy tasting and not fresh. Pretty disappointing for such a pricy place.

We ended up staying in the Kaiholena Suite, and loved the balcony, bathrooms and living room with the games, very large screen TV, and comfy sitting areas for working and relaxing. I really liked the beautiful chess set which we made use of. The Sensei team was amazingly attentive, addressing all of our needs, and making us feel completely welcomed. Everyone from the front desk, masseuses, transportation, restaurant staff and everyone in between, we greatly appreciated their kindness and service. Special thanks to Elliott who assisted us with a minor thermostat issue in our room which was resolved without issue. Sensei by Nobu was a wonderful dinner with a relaxing ambiance and delicious entrees and desserts. We opted for a custom massage, snorkeling, and some hale time, well worth booking ahead of time, thanks to the wonderful Sensei experience team. Everything was seamless, from the transportation from Lana'i air to the resort, transportation to the snorkeling experience from the lobby, shuttle service to the other resort for dinner, to checking out and departing at the end of our stay. We loved the library and spent some time playing billiards and shuffle board. Some favorite things about Sensei vs the Four Seasons beach resort (based on my observations: -Slower pace overall -Mostly adults, no kids under 16 -Feels geared more towards relaxation and wellness experiences -Still have access to the beach resort via the shuttle that runs every hour -Feels more like a tropical hidden getaway Pros: Exceptional staff, gorgeous well kept garden and grounds, delicious restaurants and food options, beautiful suite, and seamless transportation. Cons: Having to leave.
