Played yesterday. It's walking only, no pull carts are available. It is open 8-4 pm Saturday and Sunday. But it's only $25. It was very sad to see this facility abandoned. I had played this course several times before it closed. They still mow greens and fairways. It's very playable but overgrown off the fairways. It was a hike but enjoyable to play again. I don't see this course coming back, ever. It's too bad as it is a great lay-out. read more

They were out of water for 3 weeks and the fairways were dry, but the course it still a great challenge and the people are great. From the time we pulled up and the lady in the parking lot greeted us and asked if we wanted a ride to the club house. The guys in the club house were fun and helpful. Nice course located along the inner-side of the west mountains. Because of its location, it's a very windy golf course. Has a nice grass driving range and two practice greens. It's amazing to play an early am round here as you see the sun creeping over Haleakala. read more

Haven't played here in over a year and went yesterday. New head pro seemed to really up their game as service and attentiveness is now first rate. Course was a bit soggy from overnight downpours, but very playable and was not a factor. Extremely fun course to play for all levels. Wind was up, but like most Maui courses, they're designed for the trades. Excellent grass driving range for your warm-up or practice session. Bang for the buck and level of service makes this course an easy 5 star. read more

This place host gorgeous views and this was an all round wonderful dining experience. Staff was beyond excellent and so friendly. We actually ended up at this restaurant by a fluke because traffic to the other side of the island was jammed but so glad it happened. They gave us complimentary champagne and and bacon wrapped lychee which was totally unexpected for Maui plus the menu prices were very reasonable. Recommend this for locals and all tourists. read more

The course is in horrible condition. No mention of the condition of the greens by anyone before paying for the round. If the greens have been punched out and some holes have temporary greens the staff should really let you know this before going out. Don't waste your money play the dunes for a better price and way better greens. read more

I always had difficulty making a simple tee time. Calls foes to an answering service or need to go on line. When asking the Kamaaina rate they would not know know. Now the are only open front Friday to Sunday. I was told to call back later. No wonder they are shutting down. Simple solution answer their calls direct to the pro shop. Drop you rates! read more

I performed a Wedding in their gazebo. Nice area to hold a wedding only draw back is it right by the golf cart return. I want to try their $34 prime rib and sea food buffet. I'm not a golfer so I can't review the course but it does have a great view. read more

This is a goat ranch course. Terrible greens, grassy weeds in the fairway, no sand in the bunker and slow pace. No rangers. Frankly, I would pay more than $25 for a round. Save your money and go someplace better. read more

Great rate, and a great time. This course had a challenge on every hole, but nothing that stops you from giving up. If there was something to always remember it is Wildlife, Wind, and Views. Every hole has these as either a factor in your shot or distraction because it's not like anywhere else. Great Time, Great Rate just work on the grips of the rental clubs. read more

Unfortunately, I wasn't very impressed with Kahili. The course plays along the side of the mountain, but you really don't have good views. They didn't have 1 water cooler on the course and they didn't have a beverage cart. The course was in good condition, I'll give them that. If you only have 1 chance to play while on the island, I would not choose Kahili. read more

Kahili Restaurant Review Only (sorry golfers): To celebrate the last dinner of 2010, we went to Kahili's. They had a New Years Eve special: $30 for prime rib and crab buffet. This buffet was much better than the Maui Beach Hotel buffet, its main rival for holiday buffets in the Kahului and Wailuku area. The view of Wailuku and Kula was also great. The buffet offered: snow crab legs, average tasting prime rib, salad bar, limited pre-made sushi (I don't recommend the sushi), a yummy seafood medley, and desserts (cheesecake, guava chiffon, chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, and fresh fruit). If you're really into buffets and don't want to travel outside of Kahului and Wailuku, this place is okay. But if you're looking for quality over quantity, I don't recommend this restaurant. read more

This review is for the Kahili Restaurant (Friday night buffet), not the golf course its self-although it looks beautiful. The entrance to the property, and the actual property are amazing. Once you enter the restaurant, the decor doesn't scream "Hawaii", but it's still very nice. The buffet is extensive, and very good quality. Everything from sushi to cesar salad, prime rib to ahi poke. They don't scrimp on quality or quantity. The thing that gets this place 2 stars instead of 5 isn't the food, it's the service. I know service is never that good in buffets, but this is the worst service I've ever experienced in a restaurant. We went to the golf course to check out the restaurant, and made dinner reservations with the request to sid on the deck next to the railing (on the edge) for 2 nights later. When we arrived for dinner tonight, there was only 1 other table occupied, but they tried to seat us at the back wall of the deck with no view whatsoever. We asked to be moved to the area we had reserved, and the response was "no, those are reserved". Then Tom strolled along.... Tom seems to be a manager of sorts, who's position has gone to his head. He was saying that those tables were for his special clients only, we had to sit somewhere else because we didn't speak with him when reservations were made. This was our first time here, how do we know to ask for Tom? He was speaking down to us in a very sarcastic tone the whole time. We just accepted that, instead of looking at the beautiful mountain and valley view, we would be peeking around peoples' heads. Oh well, whatever. Dinner was great, very good value (34.95-all you can eat). We were there for about an hour, and none of the tables we were turned away from were used. In fact, Tom started seating people there saying "oh, the Johnsons are always late, here, you can have their table". He did this to all the remaining tables with views (about 5 or 7 tables). After we paid, we felt very miffed that he made exceptions for the later people and not those who arrived before them. When we mentioned how we felt to him, in a polite way of course, he scoffed and started is sarcastic tone again. We also mentioned that we were visitors to the island, and would not be able to return. He said "Your boycotting us just because you didn't get your way....good luck". Of course that's not what I meant, and I explained that to him. He was just flat out rude. When I mentioned that I would write a review, and include our little discussion, his tone changed as if I waved a wand. He was offering to help me to the door, and give me free dessert, etc. Too little, too late, Tom. All in all, great food, location, and view...terrible staff (the waitress who brought the drinks was very standoffish and slow, too). read more

We got a killer deal to play at Kahili last week. They are currently running a "visitor's" special where you can play Monday through Thursday for only $75. This course is normal $140 for non residents and I thought this course was much nicer than the Dunes. This course had great views of the sugar cane fields and the oceans. The carts feature a digital score card and GPS system which tells you where other carts are and the distance to the front, back of the green and how many yards to he pin. The cart attendant was also really friendly. She greeted us at the end our round with a ice cold towel and cleaned all of our clubs. I definitely will be back to play again! read more

I've golfed here maybe 3 times, but have since given up the sport. This terraced, hilly course is not recommended for the slicer, such as myself, who frequently finds himself chasing that damn white ball down the hill onto a different fairway. Sans the Crossfit workout, the course is gorgeous with great views of the north, central, upcountry and south. The clubhouse restaurant has a nice menu and great food. read more

I was looking for a "deal" for playing golf while spending the week in Maui for my birthday. It turns out that this course lets you play up to a week before or after your birthday, for the cart fee of $26. The regular weekday rate was $140. I was staying in Kaanapali and the course was about a 25 minute drive from my condo. I tee'd off just after 9am and finished in under 4.5 hours. The carts have color GPS and only look like they're a year old, at the most. The fairways were in great shape and the rough wasn't too punishing. Excellent views of both coasts are to be had from the course. The greens were hard and fast, but rolled true. While the course became more windy as the round progressed, I actually ended up shaving off 9 strokes from my front 9 score. (Probably cuz I was able to judge the wind better.) Wind usually throws off my game, but because the par 4's are shorter than what I'm used to, the are still reachable even if you're hitting into a 25mph headwind. For $140, the course is definitely worth it and for $26, it's a steal. The course looked pretty empty before 9am, but looked like they had a full schedule starting around 9:30. I'd definitely recommend getting there early. It's totally worth waking up early for. read more

The fairway grass is all yellow and dying, the greens are so bumpy, I could've never imagined a course being so bad. We saw the course from the highway and looked it up online. The pictures and reviews were misleading or not up to date. If this course was $20 I still would not play. read more

Considering you're golfing in Hawai'i/Maui, they're very reasonable priced, and they have a great military rate. The full-size driving range is spacious. Their rental clubs are name brand. The carts have GPS. The course is very scenic with a variety of holes. The entire layout is great, except for the lack of water stations (and there was no cart service when we played). Be sure to bring at least one bottle of water. The only reason they're not getting five stars is the condition of the greens. Maybe they're considered to be in good shape compared to the other courses in the area, but I was not impressed. They were a lot of bumpy patches, dying grass, rolls that weren't true, etc. In any case, I'll definitely return on my next trip to Maui. PS, be sure to download their app before you play. As a local I was very disappointed with the terse attitude of the pro shop. They seemed like they could care less and you were an imposition to them. That being said the course is in great condition and is a great value. The restaurant has a great menu and staff is wonderful. read more

A great course for golfers of every level. Very nice staff and a lovely driveway up to the clubhouse. Make sure to also visit the King Kamehameha Golf Course just up the hill. A huge gorgeous clubhouse with a famous history. The Proshop has some nice sales to offer. Online you will find some pretty good deals through the day. We arrived early and the guy skipped our teetime forward. Even tough the rate for this time was higher than the one we booked. read more

The golf course is the worst course I've ever played for handicap accessibility. If you get within 40 foot of the green the golf cart stalls in "handicap mode", and you must back out to the cart path. Due to the extensive dry/dead grass around most greens the raised greens can be very slippery to climb. read more

The Golf course was fun but it was WINDY. Usually Maui seems a bit mild in the mornings so I thought it would be the same but apparently this part of the island is always windy. Still a payable deal but if I had to do over I'd pay afternoon and twilight rates. Not worth playing in the morning if you are trying to stay out of the wind but a nice track. read more

If it weren't so windy up here, this would arguably be the best course on Maui. It's still very good though. Really cool and fun course that makes you think about what shot you'll play. Some unbelievable good views on this location, notably from the clubhouse looking south towards Haleakala, #7, and #13. The staff is nice, but it's not as good as others in the area. Haven't tried the restaurant yet, but 2 rounds at the course has been enough for me to decide I like it here a lot. read more

Great rate for a great course. Loved the layout, giving views of the valley and the allowed for all types of shots. They had an a very cool golf cart touch screen caddy and we were greeted with cold towels after a hot 18 holes. Wind can be testy and eat your ball up, but that's gold in Hawaii. Only reason I won't go all the way to 5 stars is the condition of the greens. Lot of dead, bumpy areas that impede your shot. Awesome course though. read more

Got a great rate of $59 weekday instead of the $99 I expected, so that was nice. Nice layout in Central Maui, but the course could use some work...a lot of bare dirt around the edges of the cart paths, especially in high traffic areas. I played the day after Tropical Storm Flossie drifted through, but the course handled it very well, just a couple of soft spots in the lower areas of some holes. Good course, especially for the price. I'd definitely go back again, a good alternative to pricey oceanside courses in Wailea and Kaanapali if you don't really have to be near the water to enjoy Maui golf. read more

Well worth the 40min drive from kaanapali. Much cheaper than any of the closer courses. Played for $59 on Golfnow.com and the views were great. Being up the mountain allowed for ocean views and elevation changes. Played solo with my wife in the cart at 726am on the day before thanksgiving and finished the round in 3.5hours. I would definitely play this course again when on Maui. I'm not a great golfer but not bad. Shot an 89 with multiple 3 putts. But it was a great fit for my ge and budget. Course was in solid shape with exception of the greens. Lots of sand on them, played inconsistent. Bad timing I Friendly staff, solid pro shop, no complaints from me. read more

What can I say? It was my first ever 18-hole golf experience and I did it in Maui. The course was well maintained, service was excellent and the views were breath taking. This place is as good as it gets and certainly makes for a great Hawaiian Golf Experience. read more
