Once you walk in, the waiting room and place is great inside. They have cool art on the walls and plenty to look at and talk about. They even had a stack of books for sale in the front by a local author/artist that were alphabet picture books of local Memphis spots. They embody supporting local. Their service is amazing. I've never spent a bunch of time waiting. Everyone there is super friendly. I tend to have some awkward silences when getting haircuts but everyone there is so kind and welcoming that's never been a problem. I've also gotten the best looking cuts of my life there and they've been consistent. I've seen a few stylists and they're all great. They're also super affordable for men's cuts. This place has transformed something I hate doing (getting a haircut) into something I look forward to. I can't recommend them enough.

Not only did Grace book me for her next opening, she was nice to me and gave me a great haircut even though I TOTALLY VAMPED on my first appointment. Also, I called her as my school was freaking out over a tornado warning to let her know I'd be late to my second appointment, and she was very nice about it and said she would wait and just to call when the storm warning was over to check in about whether we could meet that day or reschedule. (As it turned out, I was only going to be about 10 minutes late, and she was able to see me that day). 2. No negative gossipy-vibe here, and no pressure to tell Grace my life story. I really appreciate a stylist who is friendly and kind, but not trying to force some intimate connection at our first meeting. Maybe it's the difference between 20 year-old me and 30-something year-old me, but I don't need a new best friend every time I get a haircut. 3. Grace really listened to me. I went in with a chin-length bob, which a stylist at another salon had given me when I showed her a picture of a much-shorter cut for my very-curly hair. Grace instantly saw what I wanted, and was enthusiastic about helping me go from long to short. Three weeks later, and I still love this haircut, whether I blow-dry it or not. Grace was also careful not to badmouth the stylist who gave me the dreaded shoulder-bob, affording her the benefit of the doubt. "Maybe," she said, "she'd had someone cry in her chair that day, and she was worried you didn't really want to go short." But I did, and Grace helped me, and I will be back again and again! Practical tip: You can park in the lot behind the Gilmore and go in the back door (watch your step going in) or on the street on Madison.

He actually put on a jacket and left.

However, the service there was exceptional! It's a hole-in-the-wall tattoo shop off Madison near downtown. The artists there have years of experience and a depth to their skill that I had not seen before. The man with the long hair sketched the anticipated tattoo FREEHAND. To back track.... We had previously gone in to Trilogy, and the artist there raved about how a solid black mannequin would cover up the old tattoo. OF COURSE a solid black image can cover up ANY tattoo. At this place however, we explained that she wanted her tattoo "Believe" to be covered up with a mannequin. And I suggested that a damask or paisley print would have to be a design on the mannequin to add/skew lines from the font of "Believe." As you can see, it came our GREAT! And it looks so much better than a black blob would've looked! Not to mention, the three men working there were very nice. They may look a little rough, but looks are deceiving. They were watching Family Feud, Jeopardy, and other GSN shows while we were there. Haha!

He is hilarious, easy going, and like a best friend you haven't seen in a long time and you just picked right back where you left off. He is able to educate in a way that is not overly technical, and overall he is a positive, cool dude. 10 out 10 would recommend, 5 gold stars from me! Other positives: The lady at the front desk was also SUPER nice and easy going. Brent, one of the owners, and Alton, were also pretty cool dudes too. Love the BCT vibe.
