Kept up pretty well and clean. There's also a playground. Fairly good open area. It may be kind of small but it's bigger than it actually looks. This is small compared to the larger parks for sure but it's still plenty enough space. People like to come here and walk dogs. There's also pretty good playground equipment so this is family friendly too. It may feel a little sketchy at times but generally there's not much trouble around here. The area is usually too busy to get away with bad stuff. Has a few athletic fields. It's most often used for soccer. There's also tennis.

Nichols Park is named in honor of John Fountain Nichols, an artist and lifelong resident of Hyde Park. He was a student at the SAIC and took part in creating artwork for the federal government during the Depression. He also was a teacher on the south side and championed the revitalization of Hyde Park. This park has a gym, tennis courts, two fountains, field house, and lots of green lawn. There's also a community garden here, flowers and veggies for all. Playgrounds, a baseball field, and more round out the offerings here. If you need parking, there's plenty of it around here.

It's moved back and forth between the board of education and the park district. The playground has been well kept and the equipment is in good condition. It's named after Ray Bixler, who was an educator in the area and principal of Ray Elementary right next to the playlot. The lot isn't limited to the school, though, and it's nice that it's right in the middle of the 57th Street Art Fair when it happens so that kids have a place to play if they like. This is right near the university and across from a variety of businesses, so great location for year-round fun, too.

Has modern equipment and open area. There's a good feeling here with all the smart college people. Bring the children. It's okay even for the older children. Of course one of the most important needs for a park other than having something to do would be that it's safe. It seems like it. This is back from off 57th Street in a busy area so no crimes are likely. Good location also for the adults. It's across from a few very popular restaurants like Medici. This also has a fountain that's active in summer.

Get away from all the concrete and pavement and get lost in the trees for awhile. There's a lot more going on in summer so that's when it can get pretty crowded but it's still big enough for plenty of visitors. Fun times are here to be had. It's a kind of long shaped park with roads running through it. These roads divide the park into sections. In the southern part of the park are more of the trails and leisurely activities. The DuSable African American Museum is in the eastern part. Also over here is some art. Lorado Taft made a sculpture, Fountain Of Time. It's pretty impressive looking. Take some time to check it out. In the northern part are the athletic fields. There's baseball fields, basketball courts, and more. A whole lot of people are around when it's summer, either playing a game or at a festival. It has fun for the whole family, with all kinds of good stuff going on. There's also lots of bicycle trails.

Because we had 26 people, the stadium had us pickup our plushies early! We got there and everyone split to get their own food. I went with a friend to the first 100 levels for Lucky's Korean Corn Dogs. He got the Tonkatsu. It was crispy, very juice and well breaded. It didn't taste a ton like tonkatsu, but it was decently filling for the price. Although I didn't order much more food, and I'm not a drinker, I held off the larger exploration of food because the Sox were up 3 in the fourth or fifth inning. I personally like Sox stadium more than Wrigley, mostly because the variety of food, as well as the lack of bleachers, which can arguably be fun, most of the time I don't really wanna deal with drunk fans haha!
