It has something…read morefor everyone: several baseball fields, an indoor and outdoor basketball court, tennis courts, gymnastics, and more. We use the baseball fields for kickball and softball while the tennis courts support dodgeball. I'm always happy with how well the fields and courts are maintained. They offer a more pleasant experience than the other fields we sometimes get stuck on! Apparently, they offer a boxing program too! Once I check it out, I'll be happy to share my thoughts. The only downside to Kendrick are the restrooms. The good news, is they have them available and sized appropriately. However, they aren't kept up as much as they should be - at least its seems that way on some evening games. Still, compared to other places, I'm just happy to have a bathroom option!

Well, it turns out there is a completely free pool on the other side! The entrance is on Ridge Ave. and you can park on all sides of the Kendrick and there is a parking lot on the Pensdale side, but it's a touch further to walk. When you enter, it seems a bit old school as you will see benches and clothing hooks and a sign that says "Changing Area." This facility was built in 1925 so apparently back then people would just change plein air. Don't change there now. Walk through the entrance and you will be greeted by a friendly staff. The pool is great. There are only benches, no chairs. It's also all concrete so bring a towels or other devices to lay on. Consider bringing a camping chair for long stretched of hanging out. The water is clean and fresh. The staff is super attentive. The history is amazing. This is a best kept secret of the Roxborough area. Food and drink is NOT permitted. Definitely don't bring glass. I suspect it's cool to bring a plastic water bottle. Respect the pool, rules, and the staff and enjoy a FREE place to cool down in the summer.

However, the turtles do bask in the sun all day just like real ones. Keep the little ones away from them! You could seriously fry some eggs on those babies! The perk of this park, is the center has bathrooms and a water fountain which is great if you have kids with you. I also like that the greenspace is free of dog excrement. Nothing is worse than playing catch and stepping in it. Ugh. The corner back near fitzwater and 9th is great for picnics and just general laziness unless a soccer game is going on.

I hammered a bomb of an overhand right forcing her to get a brisk jog on to get the ball, and I looked to my right. The kids were playing together on the playground, with parents watching them from a healthy distance while talking to each other probably talking sh*t about parents who aren't present. It reminded me of a time before phones and convenience culture took over the entire world. A time before you'd get super frustrated when your Doordash order would take 10 more minutes than expected or when Netflix would buffer. A time when you were grateful to be able to just call your homie on his landline to see if he could hang out. A simpler time. I almost felt like a kid again, being fully present and just being happy to get my blood flowing while the sun was out and shining. The only moment I really have is right now so I'm gonna enjoy it. I love how you sign up for a time slot on this court with pen and paper on a bulletin board, as there is no way to do it online. Along with the sign up sheet, the bulletin board consists of flyers for local tennis coaches, a workout class, and an opportunity to adopt a foster cat. A true sense of community. Convenience culture, while it obviously has its pros, sort of kills a sense of community... Alright I'm doing the most right now on this review for a Community Center so I'll wrap it up. Places like this are a big part of what bring communities together and give people a sense of belonging and connection to one another, and I think it's a bit lost in our modern day culture in big cities. Public pools are all the rage in the city. Who would've thought? They've really been booming in the…read morelast several years, and some of them are really rather nice! This one is up there with our faves so far! Not sure how I missed this one as I've taken my daughters to the playground just on the other side of the fence many times since they were young. The pool however, is actually located ON Fairmount. (2 hr free street parking all around) There are cement bleachers and cushions for lounging, as well as neat little cubbies to place your belongings. The pool is immaculate and separated by rope from the 3 footer end and the 4 ft plus end. Two lifeguards were on duty at all times, one on each side of the pool. They were playing some popular tunes my girls and I had a great time jamming to in the star. Nothing too loud, but made the experience that much more fun. I have never heard music at any other public pools. There are restrooms right there and they weren't awful. Decent in fact. Lol The rules are fairly simple-you must take a quick shower before entering the water and to refrain from taking photos. (I snapped just a few before they officially opened for you guys) They have a little garden, which is a nice touch! Everyone was super friendly taking time to get to know one another and chatting about the neighborhood. It was mostly filled with residents from NoLibs, but I'm going to say it was worth the trek from across town. Nothing like enjoying free access to a large pool without having to leave the city. You can easily make a nice day of it and hit up one of the casual restaurants nearby afterwards...Abbaye, Wahlburgers, Apricotstone etc My kiddos begged to return the following day and we basically have our own private pool just outside the city.

The ball fields are well maintained but there's a mural from the 80s that is tired and worn and the space as a whole is not used properly. It looks like it was an old basketball court but they only took some parts down. There are several enclosed spaces for hockey practice, tennis and what looks to be a batting cage. These fenced-in areas have been abused as people use them to unleash their dog but do not clean up after them. I would love to see this place utilized better as it is a nice multipurposed area. There's a decent parking lot, too. I like to take my dog over to this area but it does seem isolated and not that well lit. As a young woman walking by myself, it doesn't seem safe with only just two outlets, one behind clubhouse with a bridge and a desolate passageway to Indian Queen. Even during the day, this could be a dangerous spot as the traffic is loud below the bridge and there's not much foot traffic. The other is the long lane out from the parking lot to Scotts Lane. A gate in the right outfield would be helpful but I am sure that's an issue, as there's a train and an intersection right behind there. My concern is: I have been there when there were some J.D.s hanging. Naturally, I was scanning the perimeter for exits and my options were not plentiful. It's kind of a hidden recreational center and would be a safer place if there was more access rather than these two long paths out. Like I said, a great, useful space but where it's positioned geographically and the design is a bit questionable.

All of the space are sparkling clean including the bathrooms. The pools are spacious with plenty of room for everyone. Great eating space and fridges to keep things cold. This playground offers a space to stretch your legs and fun for your more adventurous kids. It is conveniently located right off of I-95, with plenty of parking, and there are plenty of picnic tables and benches for parents who just want to sit back. I did take off one star for the lack of restroom facilities, which I believe is very important when you're out with kids. There are porta-potties nearby.

They have basketball courts, a place where it seems like they do recreational thing a with kids that has a bathroom!!! The place also has a baseball field and some decent playground equipment, nothing special but it does the job. It's clean and when we came ( mid week around 3:30) there were people on duty working here. I'm still in shock actually. It's not super easy to see from street level ( you mainly see the courts and nothing more) but go!
