Quick glance: + takeaway available…read more+ really friendly staff + tender, succulent sizzling fillet beef + good selection of Chinese/Cantonese dishes + lots of tables and seats (at least a dozen)... - ... but why is it so empty?? Full review: I've passed by this restaurant so many times and have rarely seen any patrons in there. In fact, I once got to the front door, peeked inside, saw no one was eating inside, and went to a restaurant across the road (big mistake, but that's another story!). So on a particular Friday night, 7pm, I decided to brave it. Again, no one eating inside, but I was in search of decent Chinese food and went in, to be greeted by a really friendly staff who sat us by the window. As the night went on, there were three other tables that filled up, plus a few others who came by to pick up takeaways. (Dragon Den does not delivery.) I was sceptical at first - how good or fresh would the food be? The dishes arrived and my fear subsided as I tucked into soft shell crab, sizzling beef, baked tiger prawns, deep fried tofu, and yeung chow fried rice -- all tasting decent. I highly recommend the sizzling beef dish -- succulent and tender fillet beef that melts in your mouth. Okay, it's not gourmet, but it gets the seal of approval from me who grew up in Hong Kong and San Francisco (which has a big array of Chinese eateries). It's not as wonderful as the Cantonese restaurants in South East Asia or West Coast America, so I wouldn't recommend visitors from those areas to go out of their way (say, visiting London) and visit. But heck, it's a whole lot nicer than other Chinese restaurants I've tried in Surrey so a relative four-star from me. It's a little pricier than takeaways, but the quality is much higher. Dinner for two, with the above dishes, plus two small beer and a soft drink, came to just under £50 (before tips), but the soft shell crab starter was £4 each (we had one each), so it's not terribly expensive. Best of all, I didn't get that greasy, queasy feeling after the big meal, as I would normally do with Chinese takeaway in this country.

I hang my head in shame. After commenting on grammar in my review of Mrs Kibble's Sweet Shoppe, I…read morehave to confess to not paying enough attention to spelling in this case. When I saw Dragon Den on the sign above this shop, I ran home to get my latest business idea to conquer the world. I rushed in, all ready to pitch my idea to 5 grumpy and rather greedy self-made millionaires, ready for them to sneer at my valuation of the company and to snatch 51% of the equity of my business and the controlling interest in my fledgling company. However, instead of BBC cameras in a rather grim looking warehouse, I found a competent Chinese restaurant! Oh.... Dragon Den, not Dragons' Den the TV program (by the way, well done to the BBC on correct positioning of the apostrophe!) Another pre-salsa meal saw me and my friend in this comfortable Chinese restaurant in Ewell. The crispy squid was crispy, the beef with ginger and spring onion tender and the egg fried rice eggy. This restaurant comes with my recommendation even if you don't get to pitch your new business idea on TV!

Penguin!!…read more Well, the Emperor restaurant in Stonecot Hill has a regal reputation and whatever day of the week you plan to dine here, I would strongly advise booking as this restaurant is very popular. They have quite a unique menu - you pay one price and you can then order any dishes from their extensive menu as often as you want. Yes, you really can. There is a wide choice - there are all the usual Anglo-Canto favourites as well as more unusual dishes such as prawns on sugar cane. I've been here many times with friends and it's so great that everyone can order what they like and if they want more, just order more. The starters are particularly strong. Then most people would follow with crispy aromatic duck with pancakes or Mongolian lamb in lettuce leaves as a middle course. Main courses can be served with rice or noodles. One dish that you should have is the sizzling beef - super tender. Included in the price for dessert are lychees and toffee banana or apple with vanilla ice cream. You can order special ice cream creations for extra charge. The staff are always very friendly and will be happy to help you select dishes. I also like the calming videos of scenes from diving on their big flat screen TVs Not as cute an emperor penguins but an excellent Chinese restaurant

They have a set price menu which you can order as much as you like from. You won't find any cheap fillers here, it's all great quality, fresh seafood and meats with plenty of veggie options. Also included in the price is aromatic duck (1/4, 1/2, whole depending on party size). A couple of recommendations are the salt & pepper squid - (oh, so good!) and peached king prawns - they're addictive. The price is £17 for adults and £11 for children. This is great value and we will keep coming back. You'll need to book as this place gets very busy. Your booking is also for a 2 hr sitting, so it's not ideal for a long meal - but definitely worth a visit! They also do a buffet on a Sunday which is always popular.
