The neighborhood around is a bit dodgy, isolated from the main roads and public transport. But this is surely a hidden gem for Xiang Cuisine, a Chinese cuisine even more spicy than Szechuan food.
Food was served quick and in huge portions. The sautéed pickled beans with minced pork is a specialty, sour, sweet and bit spicy. Dry wok meal included the first five food on the menu, but you can add whatever else you want. It turned out to be not as spicy as I've expected and too oily for me, but it was overall good. King prawns and luncheon meat were in good quality. Strongly recommend the sliced fish with chopped hot pepper, which is a classic Xiang-style dish. Fish fillet was tender and the chopped pepper was quite savory. Shredded cabbage was only okay, but that's because the others were just too good.
Both the restaurant owner and waitress were friendly and attentive. If weren't the remote location, I'd defo eat here very often! read more
