Dear Mandarin Oriental, you had me at hello. As my first visit to the brand, you made me a customer for life in my first hour of my stay. I've sampled several 5 star brands in the last year and this visit was high on the list. You're greeted with a warm towel at check in and I loved that they asked about booking the spa (which I had already done). What was great was the front desk then reviewing the etiquette (e.g. you can wear a robe/slippers down), which was super helpful and always a question I have in mind when I visit a new hotel. There is also an atm on level -1 which was very convenient when first arriving to Prague. I was welcomed graciously to my room with a gift and lovely note celebrating my reason for my stay and had some delicious chocolates, fruit, champagne, and even rose petals & bath salts waiting for me. It was very much appreciated and made my stay feel extra special. The staff service is impeccable, they make it a point to know your name. The concierge/guest services were very responsive and offered great info for visiting the Christmas markets. Housekeeping was also fantastic. It was like they swooped in as soon as you left the room so you weren't disturbing their cleaning upon your return or return to a messy room. Dining services and room service staff were also attentive and friendly. Speaking of the room, I booked a standard room and it was very spacious. I was worried it might be loud as I could hear phones ringing in other guest rooms, but as soon as you shut the bedroom door there was near perfect silence. Every time I thought to myself I wish I had xyz, I'd look around the room and it was there - although now I can't remember what those things were, lol. Pretty much every need was met and anticipated which is the best part of staying at a luxury hotel. The bathroom was also great, spacious and offering a bidet. I'm visiting in December and those constant heated floors were * chef's kiss. Every time I walked into the bathroom, my feet did a happy dance. I even loved the big towels. They also have full size diptyque products available. I loved that they provided a hand sanitizing spray as well. Ohhh the spa was amazing. They have a delicious green tea to welcome you and I seriously just want to buy it to have at home! I booked the 2 hour deep sleep massage and it was fabulous. I'm having trouble remembering my masseuse's name now, but she was awesome. She was intuitive and provided the perfect pressure. I will be dreaming about this massage for a while and even considered going back again to see her! If you're considering booking a stay, sign up to be a fan of MO. Even with this being my first stay, it provides benefits on par with Marriott gold status- which is really a phenomenal standout to the brand. They want to make you a repeat customer. You can pick 2 amenities and the list is great (free breakfast, fast wifi, and a room upgrade are on the list), along with others. I noticed there were some comments on other reviews regarding dining. I felt the offered breakfast buffet was sufficient. Yes, you have to pay more if you want to order an eggs Benedict but this makes sense to me. Omelets are included. Don't miss the mango smoothie (about $4). I also had dinner and a drink at Spices. The bao buns were tasty and I thought the shrimp pad Thai was just okay. It would be nice if the full menu was offered for room service and eventually expanding the service back to 24 hours. There was a night I fell asleep at 8pm and had to raid the mini bar when I woke up at 3. Jet lag is real ‍. Overall I would be delighted to return and would highly recommend this hotel to other guests. While I didn't see any celebs, they have been known to frequent the location as well.

First off, love that we got the third night free! Big shout out to Tomas for helping us book The Tale of the Marionette tour. This was my wife and Imy favorite part of our trip to Prague. We did eat at the Spices restaurant on the property and it was okay. We were supposed to get a private dining room but it wasn't very private, really just an alcove of the restaurant near the bar. We didn't like that certain parts of the breakfast menu did not come with our "breakfast included" as part of our benefits program. Our room was delightful, clean, and had a beautiful chandelier. It was supposed to be an upgrade from our original reservation, but seemed a bit small. The staff was helpful, especially getting our money back from the money exchange machine in the basement. They promptly resolved the issue with the company that day. Great stay for us!

The champagne upon check-in in the lobby beautifully decorated for Christmas was such a perfect welcome. Being so close to Charles Bridge and the Malostranska subway stop made getting around very easy. And yet the hotel was quiet. Caution exiting the hotel driveway through! Look both ways. The staff at breakfast were fantastic and took great care of us. We enjoyed the buffet most days but the menu items looked delicious. We enjoyed our free beer sample and a cocktail at the bar in the Refectory. Our only complaint would be that the room was warm for our taste and we couldn't quite figure out how to get the A/C on (or if it was an option). The bathroom was especially warm, we called it "the spa" We slept with the windows open and all was well. If you're looking for a luxury stay, you can't do much better.

BEWARE OWNERSHIP CHANGE AT THIS HOTEL!! As of April 1, 2026, the hotel Augustine in Prague was…read morequietly acquired by the Kempinski Group. We made reservations to stay for 7 nights starting yesterday (May 6, 2026). The front desk did not inform us of this but the changes began to emerge, very unpleasantly. First was their refusal to take American Express, which is always honored at every luxury hotel in the world. Second was fact that while they honored the room rate quoted me when I made reservations under Marriott Bonvoy, they quietly removed the paid for inclusion of breakfast buffet. Same room rate but no breakfast. Third were major service staff incompetencies. I went to an ATM outside hotel and withdrew 2,000 CZK (about $50) for tips, and the machine gave me one bill lfor 2,000. I asked desk clerk to break that into smaller bills for me. He told me to go to the bar, which I did. When I entered the bar and asked the waiter to help me, he stated firmly that they were not allowed to do that. I told him that the front desk clerk directed me to the bar but he was insistant, "it is not allowed". Walked back to front desk and said that I was very disappointed that they were not able to get their stories straight about breaking down ONE CZK bill of 2,000. Then I asked about the included breakfast that I had paid for and she said it was not listed in my reservation. It was THEN that I asked and was informed that they are no longer a Marriott Bonvoy affiliated hotel. I went back to my room ans asked an AI app to discover who now owns it. Apparently they are intending to quietly take over, then do major renovations at the end of the year. In the meantime, they have stripped any paid amenities that the guests made under Marriott while claiming to honor the same room rates. I cannot tell whether they now have new employees or whether they have imposed such strict new rules (not honoring AMEX, no bill changing at the front desk, no included breakfast buffet, and so forth). I told the desk clerk that while i normally use credit cards for all my transactions while travelling, my desire to have small local currency was entirely for TIPS for hotel staff. That did not seem to make any impression on her, and the staff seem very rigid and locked into the new rules established by their new owners. This does not bode well for the future of this magnificent medieval former Augustinian monastery. I tried reaching out to the Kempinsky Group through their website but their contact form only allows for certain types of queries such as "investor relations", etc. There is NO ability to give feedback on the policy of their newly acquired property, NOR is the Augustine hotel listed among their properties! This stealth takeover gives off all the wrong messages, considering that they have stripped away the included amenities from the hotel rate that was confirmed by Marriott. To say that I am shocked AND disappointed is an understatement.

I booked three nights through Groupon for a very reasonable price, considering the hotel's excellent location in one of the most visited cities in Europe (LOVE Praha!). I emailed them several times - once to confirm the reservation and another time about ordering an airport shuttle service. Every time they responded quickly, taking care of my request in a prompt manner. As weary travelers, we were greeted at the hotel with a warm hello and detailed description of the amenities and services offered. We took the opportunity to go on a walking tour of the city with one of the hotel employees, Vaclav, who was enthusiastic and super friendly. The hotel is located in Prague 5, within walking distance of Old Town. It's very close to Mala Stranna and there's a tram stop just a few minutes away. The building itself is old, but is tastefully decorated and our dwelling bathroom had been completely remodeled. The complimentary breakfast was delicious and the hotel restaurant served very good traditional food.
