Overrated and underpriced. I had the chicken pot pie with small side salad and cornbread. That was $15 plus $3 for my soft drink. Then, I had to try the pie, coconut meringue. I can't remember the price but bottom line is my lunch cost more than $31including gratuity (yikes!), I walked out hungry, and the pie was the worst piece of coconut pie I have had anywhere. The meringue was notable but the filling was firm and gummy rather than pudding like, or creamy. The service was very good, and the server was a real character. Mammy's is a very unique establishment given that you are dining in the dress of a very large woman. The skin color of the lady has been lightened which appears to be an attempt to be less offensive so I guess they're trying right? Putting that aside, it is a unique atmosphere in which to dine. That being said, the inside of the restaurant feels like you're at your grandma's kitchen table. Very quaint and no frills. The restaurant is open for lunch only so get in early so they don't run out of specials as it's a small restaurant and popular with locals. The food is southern country home cooking which is certainly not fine dining but has its merits. The Reuben is VERY good and when you order they allow you to do half portions so you can try multiple options which I love. The desserts are where mammy consistently shines.. All the pies are amazing. Also, our server was lovely and accommodating to any and all requests which she told us from the beginning. Our server, Lewis, I think, was full of information about the restaurant, the area, and local history. His daughter is also a server, and his wife cooks. We had a sesame chicken salad sandwich and half a PBJ/ half a grilled cheese. All were served on thick sliced, fresh baked sourdough. All were delicious! Each plate came with homemade vegetable soup and either potato salad or house salad with homemade dressing. Again- delicious. Everything tasted very well really thought this was a true southern experience. The broccoli cornbread threw me until I tasted it, since I like broccoli, I thought it was very good. The chicken was tender the gravy was perfect so all in all the main meal was very good. We also sample two slices of pie a coconut meringue and chocolate meringue and was given a small slice of lemon meringue to even things up. Founded in 1940, this restaurant is in the shape of a 28-foot-tall woman of color with a hoop skirt that houses the gift shop and dining room. It is so named because of the woman of color character in the move "Gone With The Wind". It has been remodeled and renovated several times and gone through many changes. It currently only serves lunch and desserts. The employees are quite friendly, the Reuben sandwich was good, as was the soup. The hummingbird cake (white cake with pineapples, bananas and nuts mixed in, cream cheese frosting, nut toppings) was fabulous. There is a surcharge on using a credit card to pay, though they do accept cash and checks. Inside was decorated for Halloween, and they had several gnomes. I am not sure I will be back. Hooooo boy. This place tastes like my great grandma works in the kitchen. Just south of Natchez in a quaint little woman shaped building is this gem. It's been around a long time and I've driven by it a thousand times but with very narrow hours it was always just out of reach. Now I live less than an hour away so we took a trip for lunch. We were not disappointed. Super friendly Deep South service and insanely good food with daily specials makes it a must visit for the area. It's great to see that it's still operating given the politically correct, cancel culture that we live in today. The place has a somewhat sordid history that is well documented inside. We were the youngest people dining in that day, not counting the toddler running around that belonged to an employee. Stop by and give them a try. Ok driving on HWY 61 near Natchez Ms I see this unique shaped restaurant and there were a lot of cars there so I stopped to try it out plus being honest I wanted to see inside as well. This place has been here since the 1940's. I wanted to try the red beans they looked great but unfortunately this place DOES NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS!! They only take cash & checks. Great food and an awesome and friendly server. My husband and I split the Mammy's Chicken Salad sandwich on homemade sourdough bread. The bread was SO soft! The chicken salad was good. Since the description said it had curry and ginger in it we got a sample that was enough for our party of 6 to taste. It was very tasty and didn't have too much mayo like some do. I got the blueberry lemonade and it was good. For dessert I got the hummingbird cake (yummy!). My husband got the lemon meringue pie. All desserts are homemade and our entire table was happy. The restaurant closes at 2:00 and we got there around 1:00 on a Tuesday. There was no wait. All the staff was very friendly. We might come back later this week before we head home to Ohio. read more

Stopped here to take a photo of the unique (even if it is politically incorrect) building and it was lunchtime so we decided to stay. Honestly I'm not a fan of southern food but I knew it would make my hubby happy. The hospitality was incredibly sincere and welcoming. The only vegetarian options were grilled cheese or PB and J so I decided to just go for the pie. Many choices but I had the banana caramel slice. The whipped cream tasted like Cool Whip but otherwise it was good. I definitely recommend the blueberry lemonade which had the perfect balance between sweet and tart. Husband had the roast beef sandwich with horseradish which gave it a nice kick. The bread was fresh and the vegetable beef soup and potato salad made for a very satisfying meal. He educated us on so much history about Natchez, we loved our conversation with him. This is a family run restaurant and everything was super fresh and made from scratch. We shared a turkey sandwich which is made with a Blueberry Chutney and homemade bread that was delicious! *** 3.5 stars *** Small selection, but I really enjoyed my chicken pot pie. Overall a bit pricey for the area, probably because it is touristy (is it shaped like Mammy and you dine in her skirt!). The salad that came with pie I could do without (personal preference - others I was with loved it - I just personally hate sour cream and couldn't believe how much "stuff' there was on top of the salad). The sandwiches just looked okay, so I'm glad that I went with the pot pie (Friday special). The lemonade that they are famous for is definitely on the sweet side, so if you have a sweet tooth, this would be your thing. For pie, we had the lemon ice box, which was covered in a lot of icing. I think I would have preferred the lemon meringue pie. I definitely enjoyed seeing and experiencing Mammy's, and enjoyed my pot pie, but the rest of it was just okay to me.
