This hospitals emergency was amazing everyone was super kind and walked us through everything that we need

Thank you guys for taking me in and handling my issues so quickly. I had gone in there with an abscess on my side . It turned out to be MRSA.. they got me in and out of there quickly and told me how to take care of myself. Got me on antibiotics. I got a phone call from the doctor a few days later to confirm that it was MRSA and explained to me that if it continued what I might need to do. My mom was experiencing bad altitude sickness so we took her to the emergency department and they took the best care of her! You can't really speed up ER visits but the staff made it bearable. Even I was offered food, water, blankets, etc. and I wasn't even the patient! They were also very attentive with my mom's requests such as obtaining imaging, wanting to eat/shower, etc. The hospital is also very clean and quiet. Not too many other patients therefore lots of staff to look out for you. Hoping to not come back for another emergency (lol) but if i had to, I'd choose this hospital again! read more

Who wants to have an injury while on vacation at Mammoth? Well I didn't either but this hospital was here for me when I truly needed it. From the quick treatment, top of the line service from nurses, Respiratory Therapist, Physical therapist, spiritual advisor to the awesome kitchen staff putting our good meals, this hospital was the best. I huge shout out to all the amazing staff. You guys truly made me feel safe, cared for and comfortable when I needed to be cared for after my surgery. Amazingly enough, almost all of the staff I met was either a snowboarder or skiier. They were happy and loving life. This showed in the way they cared for me. Being my first surgery and hospital stay, they helped me through it. Love you guys!! read more

Hospital is fine and ER pricing will always be more expensive but this place is highway robbery. My kid banged his knee and was in pain so we took him for an x-ray. Nothing was broken but the total bill before insurance was $1,700+. That's literally for a doctor to read an x-ray and feel his knee. If you're in Mammoth it's obviously a small town and there aren't many options but don't go to the ER there if you can help it. Rip-off merchants and frankly a symptom of what's wrong with healthcare in America more broadly. read more

Such a friendly and warm place to receive care. I came in late at night as I was chocking. The staff were quick to see me and were very calming. When the main food piece was dislodged, they let us take our time to be discharged. I was still having discomfort through the night and was able to speak to the ER doctor via phone about my symptoms. When I came back in the morning, she asked the surgeon on call come to assess my situation and she kingly worked me into the schedule to perform a surgical procedure to dislodge the rest of the food. I'm super grateful for high attention to care and lovely bedside manner from all the staff. Thank you!! read more

Small but mighty is how I would describe Mammoth Hospital. My daughter got into an E bike accident and from the moment she got to the ER you can tell that they didn't just see her as a "number" - the care that she received from the ER nurses and the ICU nurses was 100/100...the care from the doctors was amazing as well! Dr Fru was amazing...he took the time to talk to us, gave us the good the bad and options! I thank GOD for this hospital and their staff... if you ever land at the hospital know that you're in good hands. read more

What a joke. My son had a rash on his arm that he thought was either ringworm or staph infection. I already had the medicine to treat both and wanted to get confirmation. The dermatologist was too busy and we sat there for 3+ hours and finally the PA was able to text a photo, and he confirmed it was staph from the photo. We were billed $850 for five minutes of care. read more

The ER was surprisingly quick and easy. Wife had a horrible allergic reaction to mold in our condo, so lacking an urgent care in Mammoth, the ER was our only move. Kind staff, very efficient, and as quick as you could hope. It's not a place you want to go, but if you have to go, it's the experience you want. read more

There's no urgent care in Mammoth or Bishop, only Emergency. One of us fell in the camping ground while setting up a camp, bruised legs and arms, hit the back of the head. Just for safety precautions we went to Mammoth Hospital, took a while to figure out where the entrance to the Hospital was. We waited in a small waiting area, didn't see any other patients. After being admitted to an emergency room, we were like "Wow" feel like a luxury hospital, emergency room was big and with modern equipments. Doctors and nurses were very nice, too. read more

This staff made breaking a leg and full surgery the most pleasant experience it could have been. I literally miss them they are so kind and funny and just lovely. They explained my condition and plan for treatment in terms that a non medical professional can easily understand. My mom and I were traveling to see my aunt and uncle in Yerington, Nevada and my mom who has stage 4 pancreatic cancer got in some serious trouble with getting very very sick and we stopped here on the way home to get help because we knew she couldn't make the trip home. I can't give a high enough review to this hospital! The staff was phenomenal in terms of getting Mom's pain and vomiting under control as well as diagnosing a clot. They were all giving, caring, calm, and cheerful. Because we are five hours from home they accommodated me in the room with her and helped calm me down. They took top notch care of mom and put me at total ease. I thank God for this hospital and the cheerful and giving staff. They also communicated with Kaiser to get records and determine how to proceed since we were at the hospital out of network. Thank you so much to every staff member who helped us! read more

I stumbled out of the woods in Mammoth Lakes after developing a gnarly tooth infection on the trail. Now, normally I avoid antibiotics. But if I am really in need, I've found eating only Chicken McNuggets for a solid week will clear most infections. Like you, I was surprised to learn that the Mammoth Micky D's closed in 2016, citing "challenging circumstances" operating in the resort town. I would have to hitch to Bishop to find a McDonald's on this side of the JMT. It wasn't long before I was picked up by a Tesla driven by a spiritual life coach with his head twisted up into a fist sized knot of hair. Tenuous pines struggling through the desert sand and sagebrush whizzed by highway 395 as I explained my plight. As I did, my hosts brow furrowed and tightened, and his man bun slowly crept up from the back of his skull right to his forehead. I tried to ask if something were upsetting him, but before the words left my mouth the car was plaintively skidding over the sandy median into the northbound lane, sending the still hydrating contents of last night's Mountain Kitchen freeze dried dinner rocketing around my stomach like one of those stunt cyclists who execute gravity defying maneuvers at centripetal speeds inside a spherical cage of welded steel. The car spun around and started zagging back up the Sherwin Grade. When I asked the man why he was driving so angrily back to Mammoth, he explained that he is a vegetarian and could absolutely not condone or participate in my plan. Before letting me out at the Mammoth Hospital ER, he apologized for the erratic autopilot function of his car, which by now had driven away without either of us. All the other patients in the hospital were in much worse shape than me, but the nurses nonetheless admitted me quickly and with more consideration and sympathy than I deserved. I listened with admiration from my curtained vestibule as the doctor traveled from broken limb to sprained digit to smashed face, dispensing prognoses and prescriptions with the sage proficiency of a Jeopardy! champion breezing through entire categories of esoteric subjects like Renaissance Contraception, not even hesitating to put everything on the line when they hit the Daily Double. Needless to say, I got my antibiotics and am doing much better now. It was nice of the doctor not to act like he had better things to do or like I was wasting his time. I had the best experience here. I had a urinary tract infection, and normally I would go to urgent care or my doctor, but I was in the June Lake area camping and there are no urgent care facilities nearby, so I had to go to the (ER) hospital. From the minute I walked in, until I left, it was less than an hour. They immediately took me into the back and everybody was super nice. It seems strange going to the ER for something that was not an emergency, but it needed to be addressed. I'm sure there might've been some kind of wait in the middle of ski season, but in the summer it was an extremely pleasant experience. Thank you to Angela, Samantha, Isaac, and Dr. Bassler. Not even 5 hours here, my daughter had an accident on a sled while we were checking into the room. Take note!! Trees and sledding are a big N O P E ! it happened so fast! Thankfully 2 gentlemen ran over to help and called 911. We thought my daughter may have broke her leg. We were transported to this hospital and immediately put into a room. The staff was so attentive. I was so impressed with Dr. Walker. My daughter was in so much pain, she kept asking Dr Walker not to hurt her and she reassured her she wouldn't. One X-ray confirmed a broken ankle by Dr Walker. Remedy was to put a splint on her. It took 3 people. One of the staff even went to grab a pair of pants (cleaned / washed!) cut the leg off and put them on my daughter. We were in and out within 2 hours on a Saturday afternoon. Trust me I didn't want to be here and see this happen but I was very happy with the care my daughter received. Special thanks to Dr. Walker for being so patient and gentle. From the moment you pull up to the ER a level of care is given that I am most unfamiliar with. I have reviewed Magnet designated Hospitals, but this was different. Admission was immediate; no gripping of organs with yelling was observed and a spacious private room was given. We were informed within minutes Dr. Sierra (who was pregnant at the time) was on her way in (walking) how awesome. Nurse Sarah was attentive. She went above by providing a warm blanket and exceptional care to a patient who it seemed had nothing to offer. Dr. Sierra did an EKG providing a missing puzzle piece for PCP leading to a Dx of stage 3-kidney failure. Most appreciative to observe personalized care at Mammoth Lakes Hospital. The patient wants to nominate Sarah for the Daisy award--- man does he have it bad lol. Before we left, we dropped off cards and orchids for attending Dr. Sierra and Sarah (RN Extraordinaire). Do the research and discover residents of Mammoth Lakes are quite healthy---allowing the medical professionals to impart a truly stellar level of care. Thank you. read more

My 11 year old son had an emergency appendectomy at Mammoth Hospital. I can't express how impressed I was with this facility. Our ER nurse Carrie Clopere was kind and informative. She made my son feel calm and at ease. The other ER nurse, Samantha, helped to to start my son's IV, she was so patient and helpful. The ER doctor, not sure if his name, was impressive and knowledgeable. Last, our son's surgeon, Sarah Sindell, was honestly a gift from God. My experience in the ER and as an admitted patient was amazing. I needed emergency surgery due to a pretty bad lower leg fracture of two bones. From the time I entered the door, I was treated like a VIP. The staff is warm, caring, skilled, and professional. I knew I was in good hands with Harvard-trained Dr. Timothy Crall Orthopedic Surgeon. He put me at ease (wonderful bedside manner). He is a skilled surgeon. My surgery was excellent without any complications. A big thank you to the ER, OR, and Post-op staff: Tina, Kristen, Eric, and Carrie. My med/surg nurses were the best, a big shout out to Yvonne, Ashley, Jamie, Jenn, Lisa, Jeff (EMT), Val RT, Lauren PT and Tabitha who called me at home for my 2 day follow- up. This place will nickel and dime you to oblivion. Radiologist admitted to not even knowing how to read X-rays in detail. Referred me to a chiropractor for a better explanation. Spent a total of 5 minutes with me and billed me over $300 to say she didn't know what she was looking at. Failed to mention unrelated findings in the X-ray which I found extremely negligent. Took the time to write it in my medical records - which you as the patient have to jump through hoops to get a copy of - but failed to even mention it in person. Mind you zero other patients were in the ER that day. So they had plenty of time to provide good, thorough care and chose not to. Beware: if you know what you need when walking in - demand that is all you receive, otherwise they will charge you another $600+ for taking your temperature and blood pressure when it's not necessary. Billed me $1,000 over the cash price for that same X-ray, with zero confidence in outcome. Would never trust them with putting a bandaid on me, let alone my life!! Would never refer anyone to their care. If you can help it, steer clear of these people. They don't care about you, their jobs or their Hippocratic oath!! read more

ED Nurse Carrie and Dr. Walker saw my 17 year old son during a ski trip, he had been nauseated, vomiting and was dehydrated. They saw him right away, both were so nice, explained everything to us and after an assessment, labs drawn, some medication and IV fluids we were released with him feeling much better. From the person who brought us back to a room, checked us in and walked us back out everyone was friendly and pleasant! read more

Got in super fast with my daughter. They were very attentive. MD Toomasian did the best he could at working with a 16 month old. He was patient and kind. The nurse was also sweet and informative. For spending vacation ending up at the hospital they were reassuring. read more

I LOVE THIS ER! I Showed up with my eight year old in 2007 with a broken arm! They were AMAZING!!!! My then 8 year old is now 22.... I got the call at midnight that she did "something to her hip"... she is now a snowboard instructor at Mammoth.... she was crying...she couldn't walk....she had a friend take her to the ER at midnight...at 2am....she was HOME! A 2 hour ER visit! Woot Woot! She ended up with a pinched nerve and some meds and a "take it easy" instruction. All I can say is THANK YOU as a mom far away! You guys ROCK! read more

WOW! I came in to have an injured hand looked at. The urgent care confirmed with my insurance company prior to me checking in, assuring me only my $75 copay would be applied. Fast forward 8 months later and I get an $1,100 bill. The billing department states "it seems we submitted it wrong to your insurance company. You'll have to work with them to figure out our error before we adjust your bill." I'm not sure at what point it's considered fraudulent billing, but that seems rather close. read more

The ER is great. The doctor and staff were knowledgeable and friendly. The first visit for myself as a skier but my kids have been here before for boarding and mountain biking accidents. If you can, avoid the ER but if you have to go, feel comfortable going to Mammoth hospital. read more

Had to go in for my son's concussion on a Wednesday night around 8. Windows in front closed, called on lobby phone and we were buzzed right in. Laura immediately got us registered. Dr. Swisher was right behind her asking questions and making my son (12) and I laugh. I HATE to say that I didn't get the nurses name, she was great also! Anyway, service was friendly and quick, but thorough. Facility was clean and quiet, maybe it was the time of year or day, but I'll take it!
