Upon arrival from the mainland, we hit this restaurant because I was hungry for Filipino food. Being Filipino, eating this food should be everyday but for me, it's a special treat. The food at Mama Lucy's reminds me of home-cooked meals by my mother and older sisters. It reminded me of the good old days! For foid service, you go and order the food, they scoop it out of the pans, you pay for it and then go find a table to eat the delicious food. The ambiance is not first class but it is clean. The primary deal is the food! Its good as nd delicious!

My girl friend bought some tickets from a fund raiser for a 2 choice 2 person meals. So we came for lunch. It was close to closing time but there was a few good choices left.Sadly they ran out of noodles. So my girl friend got the Pork n pea's n the pinakbet. She enjoyed it a lot.The taste was just right. As for myself.I got the fried fish and blood meat. The me the blood meat was okay.It was a little bland and it could use more flavor. The fried fish wasn't so good.It was dry and it could use some kind of dipping or tarter sauce?.The portions was good!..Also the server that we had was not to friendly,Did not smile and answered in a sort of sassy tone.We figured it was almost closing time and was tried and wanted to just go home..Other than that will be stopping by again.

I've never met Mama Lucy but you get my 5*FIVE stars, we try to make a stop/squeeze in Mama Lucy's Kitchen when on Kauai, fantastic spot to get our Filipino Food fix in for me and especially the hubby! I came across Mama Lucy's Kitchen while doing a search and have been back since our very first visit. All staff are so friendly, they receive tons of rewards so you know it is good, there are so many different entree to choose from and if they are low they make new ones. (ex. pancit noodles) Great Filipino desserts available too. The price for plate is standard, I always go with the 3 item plate for $15. My usual plate is all pancit as carbs, chicken adobo, mungo beans for the hubby, and either go with a soup or the pig's feet adobo. Of course got to get extra rice for the hubby since he can't eat these delicious Filipino itmes without rice! Rice is life when it comes to these foods. There are tables for dining in but we always do take out before we check in to hotel, pool/jacuzzi time and so perfect for after swim meal, really hit the spot good since this is the only time we get our Filipino foods in, comfort foods! The food taste and reminds me of the all the parties and get togethers at my in laws place in Waipahu, Authentic good! My favorite, besides the pancit is the chicken adobo wings, so easy to eat, and hubby sure loves his mungo beans. Mama Lucy's Kitchen is located in Lihue, on Puhi Road, very convenient in Lihue. There are ample parking in front and on the side. Opened Monday to Fridays from 8-6, Saturdays 8-4. Closed on Sundays. I sure look forward to my upcoming visits here, check them out, good stuff and a must visit for your craving of authentic Filipino flavors!

We discovered this Filipino diner next door to Hanalima Bakery. Food smelled delicious and cafeteria style so there were many dishes to choose from. If we didn't already purchase from the bakery, I would have definitely got a few more dishes to go. So we ended up just getting some longganisa sausages and rice' they were so good! This little hidden gem definitely needs more exposure!

Can't get any better filipino home cooked meal than Mama Lucy's... and the portions are very generous. I had the papaitan, dinuguan and the pork feet adobo - wife had the Ilocano style pakbet and she says she never had the kind of pakbet since growing up in the Philippines.

If you're into Filipino food or if you're Mexican lol you'll love this place. The ladies are sweet and kind and feel like your tias! I tried everything from the pigs feet to the banana lumpia and the sweet dessert rice! All of it was delicious! You can take your plate to go or eat there. Either way the food tastes the same. It's a must try if you are in Kaua'i!

Awesome variety of dishes including dinaguan, pork gisantes, pork or chicken adobo, pigs feet, pumpkin w/green beans, squash, etc. choice of 1, 2, or 3 choices with rice, Pancit, or combo rice/pancit. Banana lumpia are buy 3, get a 4th for free. They also have other desserts. Check the photo for store hours.

2 entree plate, half half rice pancit

SARAP!!! Sooo yummy. My partner had the 3 entree plate, I had the 2 entree plate. We ate inside, plenty seating. He said the longanisa was his favorite and he went back to order another serving lol. I think the chicken adobo and the sinigang na bangus were delicious. Chicken fell off the bone and I didn't notice any bones with the bangus. I also grabbed some puto to go and enjoyed that very much on the car ride to the beach. Overall, for the food quality and quantity, you will definitely leave here satisfied. Mahalo, salamat po!!!

Craved Filipino food and found this little place inside an old building. Coming in there's seating for about 20 people. We came around dinner time and saw there weren't that many items available; maybe because it was close to end of the day. We ordered to go, a combo with pancit, rice, pinakbut and pork with gisantes. Food was delicious. Next time we visit here, we'll make it a point to come earlier for better selection. Friendly staff, clean restaurant. To use restrooms, you need to get a key from the vendor.

R & J Bakery - Their pan de sal is the very best I've ever, ever had! Hot and fresh! My kids and hubby agreed also!

It's incredible and the most delicious homemade Filipino bun ever! My kids were also incredulous of how wonderful it tasted. During this visit we also tried the chicken adobo (better than my Filipino mom's version and better than the way I prepare it!) Wow, again best ever chicken adobo dish! My hubby got the breakfast plate that had sausages and rice. He loved it. Also got the chicken tinola and pork adobo on a second visit and more pan de sal! The shopkeepers are so nice and friendly. It's a pleasure supporting this local small business. It will definitely be a place we'll return to over and over again during future visit to Kauai! Highly recommend! There were many locals who came too! The lovely owner grandma said they've changed the name of the restaurant, because she's handed it down to her son and he'll run the business. Thank you for preparing and serving delicious Filipino food!

I should've got a dozen. This place is a small Filipino bakery and turo-turo joint on Rice Street in Lihue in between Rob's Good Times Grill and the bowling alley. The Tita that helped us was friendly and I was going to get a bag of their homemade chicharon but decided against it. She laughed when I changed my mind. They have some vegetables for sale scattered about the small retail space out front. But the main draw is their baked goods and their hot food to-go. I saw everything from biko (sticky rice dessert), musubis, empanadas, suman (sticky rice wrapped in banana leaf) for baked and packaged goods. Then they had pancit, dinuguan, fried fish and pork adobo. There were several other offerings that I cannot recall. Pan de sal was 3 for $1 or a dozen for $4. Gotta get the dozen. Parking is in the share lot right out front or street parking along Rice if the plaza is packed.

I had Kalua Pig and ordered my wife Pancit. The kalua pig was literally in the top 2 or 3 I've ever had. Full flavor without being overly salty. Great grilled cabbage with it too. I upgraded to fried rice- very tasty and similar to Japanese fried rice. So good. Even the side salad was great- mixed greens some cucumbers and carrots with ranch. The key is it was fresh, and had spinach and arugula in it as well. The Pancit was fresh and perfect. The kumquat added a great balance to the flavor and put it over the top. The food took a few minutes, after eating it we will be happy to wait a few minutes again! The owners were very nice people! Great job!
