Was so happy to check out a new place while doing a quick Kauai work visit. I love Filipino food and was grateful to have a quick (cafeteria style!), hot and fresh meal at a reasonable price!! I got the $17 plate for 3 choices! But when they said that Kare Kare was only available tomorrow and I had planned on trying that out and there was a long line forming behind me and I didn't know what everything was, I panicked and got fried fish lol. It's ok tho, it was a good choice to carry back to Oahu cause I was stuffed after eating that one choice pig feet and starches - ok plus one of those sweet sausages and one of my buy 3 ($1.50) get 4 banana lumpia, cause you gotta have it fresh)!! When I saw what co workers got the fried eggplant, I added that to go for $4. I'm excited to return and hope to try some of their other dishes! read more

Paid by card. Mama Lucy's is located in a plaza and offers plaza parking. This place has been here forever. I remember coming here when I was in high school! I went here a couple times during the weekday for lunch and only had to wait a few minutes for the people ahead of me to order. I got the pinakbet and halo halo. So good and such big portions!! The halo halo had so many toppings inside. Yummm! I would definitely recommend this place and would go back. read more

Recommended by a tour guide for their banana lumpia-- which was delicious! The buy 3 / get 1 left me wanting even more. Ordered a plate of chicken adobo drumsticks and pancit--both very good. Lots of other choices as well. Friendly staff. read more

Everything was delicious! My favorite, kare-kare, had both oxtail and tripe, with just the right amount of veggies and the semi-thick consistency. Hubby got the papaitan and finished it to the last drop. Got turon to go but ate our halo-halo on site. Ladies serving were all nice and were good on the upsell. Place was well-lit, clean and reminds us so much of eateries back home in Manila. Farmers' market on a Saturday next door was a plus. read more

Upon arrival from the mainland, we hit this restaurant because I was hungry for Filipino food. Being Filipino, eating this food should be everyday but for me, it's a special treat. The food at Mama Lucy's reminds me of home-cooked meals by my mother and older sisters. It reminded me of the good old days! For foid service, you go and order the food, they scoop it out of the pans, you pay for it and then go find a table to eat the delicious food. The ambiance is not first class but it is clean. The primary deal is the food! Its good as nd delicious! read more

My girl friend bought some tickets from a fund raiser for a 2 choice 2 person meals. So we came for lunch. It was close to closing time but there was a few good choices left.Sadly they ran out of noodles. So my girl friend got the Pork n pea's n the pinakbet. She enjoyed it a lot.The taste was just right. As for myself.I got the fried fish and blood meat. The me the blood meat was okay.It was a little bland and it could use more flavor. The fried fish wasn't so good.It was dry and it could use some kind of dipping or tarter sauce?.The portions was good!..Also the server that we had was not to friendly,Did not smile and answered in a sort of sassy tone.We figured it was almost closing time and was tried and wanted to just go home..Other than that will be stopping by again. read more

I've never met Mama Lucy but you get my 5*FIVE stars, we try to make a stop/squeeze in Mama Lucy's Kitchen when on Kauai, fantastic spot to get our Filipino Food fix in for me and especially the hubby! I came across Mama Lucy's Kitchen while doing a search and have been back since our very first visit. All staff are so friendly, they receive tons of rewards so you know it is good, there are so many different entree to choose from and if they are low they make new ones. (ex. pancit noodles) Great Filipino desserts available too. The price for plate is standard, I always go with the 3 item plate for $15. My usual plate is all pancit as carbs, chicken adobo, mungo beans for the hubby, and either go with a soup or the pig's feet adobo. Of course got to get extra rice for the hubby since he can't eat these delicious Filipino itmes without rice! Rice is life when it comes to these foods. There are tables for dining in but we always do take out before we check in to hotel, pool/jacuzzi time and so perfect for after swim meal, really hit the spot good since this is the only time we get our Filipino foods in, comfort foods! The food taste and reminds me of the all the parties and get togethers at my in laws place in Waipahu, Authentic good! My favorite, besides the pancit is the chicken adobo wings, so easy to eat, and hubby sure loves his mungo beans. Mama Lucy's Kitchen is located in Lihue, on Puhi Road, very convenient in Lihue. There are ample parking in front and on the side. Opened Monday to Fridays from 8-6, Saturdays 8-4. Closed on Sundays. I sure look forward to my upcoming visits here, check them out, good stuff and a must visit for your craving of authentic Filipino flavors! read more

Good Filipino food - my mom likes it. We went back twice while visiting. Service friendly - did take out but they had seats and tables

We discovered this Filipino diner next door to Hanalima Bakery. Food smelled delicious and cafeteria style so there were many dishes to choose from. If we didn't already purchase from the bakery, I would have definitely got a few more dishes to go. So we ended up just getting some longganisa sausages and rice' they were so good! This little hidden gem definitely needs more exposure! read more

Can't get any better filipino home cooked meal than Mama Lucy's... and the portions are very generous. I had the papaitan, dinuguan and the pork feet adobo - wife had the Ilocano style pakbet and she says she never had the kind of pakbet since growing up in the Philippines. read more

Portions size is good. It tasted like home made food!! So delicious. They even had pig feet soup that broke da mouth! (Onilicious)

This is a straight up, down home, Filipino "turo turo" (point point) spot. If you don't know what that is, the best I can give you is you're choosing food on display behind a case, but it's not labeled and you may not know exactly what you're getting. Their pancit was the best I've had in a very long time. I pointed at what turned out to be tortang talong, or eggplant pan-fried in egg batter, or as we called it, egg eggplant. Also delicious. This was our first stop after landing in Lihue, and it most definitely hit the spot. read more

SARAP!!! Sooo yummy. My partner had the 3 entree plate, I had the 2 entree plate. We ate inside, plenty seating. He said the longanisa was his favorite and he went back to order another serving lol. I think the chicken adobo and the sinigang na bangus were delicious. Chicken fell off the bone and I didn't notice any bones with the bangus. I also grabbed some puto to go and enjoyed that very much on the car ride to the beach. Overall, for the food quality and quantity, you will definitely leave here satisfied. This is an open area food spot. Lots of parking, quick in and out, and combo was best value on the island!

This was the best Filipino restaurant on Kauai when it opened around the early 00's, ever since the original owner along with their original staff left, the business went downhill, the quality of the food got worse, and worse, the only item worth buying is the banana lumpias read more

Craved Filipino food and found this little place inside an old building. Coming in there's seating for about 20 people. We came around dinner time and saw there weren't that many items available; maybe because it was close to end of the day. We ordered to go, a combo with pancit, rice, pinakbut and pork with gisantes. Food was delicious. Next time we visit here, we'll make it a point to come earlier for better selection. Friendly staff, clean restaurant. To use restrooms, you need to get a key from the vendor. read more

We stopped here because of all the great reviews. The restaurant was nice and clean and the staff were friendly. You basically pick which hot food you want (kind of like a Panda Express) and they box it up for you. I'm not too familiar with all of the dishes they server, but it was mainly chicken/pork. I guess I'm a little picky because I don't like a lot of "fatty" pieces in my food. I like my chicken/pork very lean. The food all tasted great, but there was too much "fat" in the dishes for my taste. Everyone around us was loving it, but my daughter and I ended up picking through most of the chicken and eating Pancit (which was good). Nothing bad to say about Mama Lucy's, but it's just not my bag. read more

Even on vacation, I am always on the lookout out for good Filipino food like my mama used to make. Unfortunately, they didn't have Kare Kare, so we ordered Pancit, Dinuguan, Igado, and Mungo Soup. I can't say it's the best Filipino food I've ever had, but it was more authentic than a lot of other places I've tried. The Mungo soup and Dinuguan were really good. Both dishes' flavors and consistencies were spot on.The pancit and the Igado were just okay. The pancit was kinda bland and the Igado too salty. The turon was legit! I can see why Mama Lucy's is so popular with the line 10 people deep the entire time we were there. read more

Hello staff good day.. I have to be honest: in my opinion the adobo could use more vinegar, garlic, pepper, bay leaf. The chicken seemed like It was soaked in the flavor of only soy sauce. It was overwhelming. 2 out of 10. The monggo's taste was super bland plus it tasted like pure malungay nothing else. 1 out of 10. The pork adobo also tasted like it was only cooked in soy sauce and oil. 1 out of 10. Pinakbet was good except all the veggies were basically eggplant, few beans. 2 out of 10. The kare kare was very watery. 2 out of 10. I am not sure if this is a certain filipino province style cooking, my apologies if it is, but I am speaking in general basic pinoy cooking. Was disappointed unfortunately today. :( Hope they can improve... thank you po. read more

We came here right before they closed so there was not much food options left to choose from. The portion they give is massive. I had the 3 choices plate and selected pancit, pinakbet, and menudo. The flavors are similar to Filipino back in NY but they are not heavy on flavors. The Pinakbet doesn't have the shrimp paste flavor in it. The pork in the menudo is soft and not chewy. I shared this with another person and we were not able to finish. read more

This place is one of the cleanest filipino spots we've been to, with some of the nicest women working the counter! The food is also pretty darn great. We visited twice in a week, and between the whole family we had chicken adobo, pork adobo, chicken papaya (tinola) Isda, pancit, ginitang calabasa, and Turon. All the food was great. Sidenote - Turon did not have jackfruit address they mentioned some of the locals weren't a fan of it. Still tasty! I repeat - great, authentic Filipino food, clean, and great service. You typically can't find all 3 of these on the mainland so it goes without saying you can't beat this! A bit limited parking, but we were able to find a spot each time. If you come on Saturday late morning, they have a farmers market right across the street which has a great selection of fresh vegetables and fruits! read more
