Chili Colorado, Colorado Verde Burrito combination.

Lived in Pocatello in the 80s and 90s and Mama Inez was our go to restaurant. We live in Florida now and we're just back for a visit. The food and service were excellent. Food was not quite as good as we remember, but then what is. If we had a Mama Inez in Florida it would blow away all other Mexican restaurants. Locals may not fully appreciate what a gem this restaurant is.

Ordered a side guacamole in addition to the chips, salsa, and beans they provided. Had a fried chimichanga with an enchilada sauce. All were very delicious. A will return again!

If you are in Pocatello, eat here…read more We dined on a Friday night. 90% capacity. No line. A little slow to get us seated but as kind as other reviewers have noted. Everyone was kind. Thank you! Dinner took 30 minutes to reach our table. A little long and it's not like they were full with a line of people waiting. Their chips looked and seemed generic, but they were good. Salsa was about a 10/10 for me. Flavor, heat, consistency. Perfect. Bean dip was good. Nacho queso was fun, but a little plain. I appreciated having it. I had 3 shredded beef tacos, and beans and rice. One of my major complaints of an otherwise very good experience. Is that two out of my three tacos were soggy by the time I got to them and I tried to get to them immediately before I started in on the beans and rice to prevent eating soggy tacos. Anyway, that was a big disappointment. Beyond that, the freshness and flavor and quality was great. I enjoyed everything. I would definitely eat here again. I'm not sure if my tacos were soggy from the tomatoes or the shredded beef or because they were sitting under the heat light for too long. I would need to figure that out next time, if I'm ever in Pocatello again... There was live music, and that was fun. At the end of our meal thy brought out chips with cinnamon, whipped cream, and caramel drizzle. Free of charge. This is not my type of thing at all. But I have to admit it was a nice little treat after dinner and was very, very good. The only reason I'm not giving this a five star review is because of the soggy tacos. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone. Everything was great.

I can't wait to return!! The staff was incredibly patient as I scoured all the choices with a magnifying glass. I chose three tacos and due to a restricted diet, a salad. The salad was huge, the carnitas and carne asado tacos were outstanding, the pickled carrots, jalapenos, onions and peppers were so fresh and homemade!! The salsa verde I couldn't stop asking for more!! The staff, management and servers were so on it and truly kind to us and all their, obvious, returning diners!! Nothing was remotely empty as they consistently checked back with us, and everyone else, and boy did we devour everything!! I can't wait to return to this restaurant again. 7 stars!! Thank you Dave for recommending this gem!!! Prices were incredibly reasonable as well. Authenticity and kindness at it's best!! They certainly could expand as the business was consistent and the service fast but not rushed!!! Maybe a franchise in Los Angeles!!!

We were greeted right away when we walked in and really enjoyed the authentic decorations and overall vibe. The service was friendly and welcoming. Not long after sitting down, we were brought chips with some really tasty salsa and bean dip, which was a great start to the meal. I ordered the smothered tamales, and I had never had anything quite like that before. The food came out hot and tasted fresh. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend this place!

We have been quasi-regulars for the past 2 years and have watched both the customer service level go down and the food quality shrink. We understand being short-staffed. We're from one of the nearby tourist meccas and you can never have enough employees. However, when your staff is overworked and tired they need to let your customers know they're doing their best. Last night the gentleman at the cash register couldn't be bothered to say, "Hello," let alone make eye contact. Is he worn out from too many shifts? Does he not know that he should be greeting customers? If he had said something along the lines of, "So sorry I had my back to you for so long, these to-go orders are crazy tonight!" we might have understood. ! As it was, when we left, I wondered why we had bothered spending our hard earned money there. Now, the food. Not bad. We appreciate that you're open on Sundays. But, there seems to be less of it and it seems to be less....fresh. Still better than a lot of the Mexican food in Pocatello, but it's slipping. The restaurant looks great from the outside-nice reno, guys!! (I do miss the tables on the inside, though...they lent a touch of whacky character that seems to be missing now. But, I understand change.) So, all in all....we'll probably be back. That craving for Mexican food hits us occasionally and this is where we'll end up. By then I'm hoping someone will understand that it's the food AND THE PEOPLE that bring your customers back.
