Tres Hermanos used to be my favorite place to eat, but after my last two visits, I'm done for a while. 1. They got my order wrong. I ordered the No. 2 lunch special and asked for the tostada on a separate plate so it wouldn't get soggy. The cashier asked me twice if my order was to go. Both times I said, "No, I'm eating here." Twenty minutes later, my food came out in a to-go container, with the tostada swimming in the beans and enchilada sauce anyway. 2. The food wasn't good. The food was cold, greasy, and bland. The beans tasted like they had too much lard, the enchilada sauce had almost no flavor, the salsa was watery, and I only got a few chips. I was starving, so I ate about 80% of it before I just couldn't stomach any more. I wish I had sent it back. 3. No one took responsibility. This bothered me more than anything else. The cashier blamed the cooks and then said they didn't want to move the food onto a plate. I don't care whose mistake it was. Someone should have apologized and said, "We'll remake your order the way you requested." Please train your employees, bring back the quality food you used to serve, and when a mistake happens, make it right. That's what keeps customers coming back. read more

We traveled 8 hours today. We setup our trailer and then headed here for dinner. We love Mexican food and this place did not disappoint. The service was fast, the staff was friendly and the food was delicious. We will be back on our way home. The place was packed and people were coming and going the whole time we were seated. Tres reasons why Tres Hermanos gets quatro stars instead of cinco: Uno: The flavor of the food is pretty good. Not my very favorite, we ordered a chicken quesadilla and fried ice cream, but it's definitely affordable and not too shabby. I think they forgot to put the chicken in, so it ended up being simply a cheese and lettuce quesadilla. But you definitely get a lot of bang for your buck here. Dos: The tables are cleaned and the floors are kept nice. It's nice that they really care about their presentation of their restaurant as a whole. You can either opt for a drive-thru, or there is a plethora of seating inside. Tres: The employee that helped was not as awesome as I would've wished. We really came for their chips and salsa but found out "you only get one chips and salsa per entree" and they weren't as happy and helpful as a person trying to up-sell their menu items should be. TIPS & TRICKS: * Like I mentioned before, chips and salsa are only available if you purchase an entree, no free refills. Kind of a bummer. Food is delicious and great prices too. Our favorite is the bacon cheeseburger with fries. It's loaded with bacon and large enough to split between 2 people when you're not super hungry. The French fries are excellent, better than McDonalds forsure! Of course the traditional Mexican dishes are very tasty too. This resturaunt is super good. I love the chips and salsa, and even tried to recreate this salsa. (I failed). The steak tacos are super good, and I love the flavor of all of the ingredients combined. The bathrooms are nasty, but at least the food is delicious. I wish that the horchata was made with milk, but it's still good. The employees are great, and the red sauce is WAYYY better than the green. 5 stars. I can't say less. read more

I used to eat here a lot but in the last year it is not good. Just tonight we thought to give it one more try and we were so disappointed. It took 25 min. to get our food in the drive through. I ordered a ground beef taco with a hard shell. When I got it home one block away the shell was so soggy that I fed it to my dog. At home I couldn't find the lettuce in my taco so I had to chop my own lettuce from my fridge to add. Tres Hermanos also didn't put in any hot sauce so I had to use my own hot sauce. The taco was the size of the 49 cent taco at Del Taco and Taco Time. But Tres Hermanos taco cost more than triple. My granddaughter got a macho burrito with steak. She said that there wasn't much steak, it was mostly filled with rice. It was quite expensive too. The burrito had sauce over it but yet not enough so the tortilla was pretty dry and hard. Tres Hermanos uses a microwave oven a lot with all the food. I have tried many of their other dishes and in the last year all of them have gone down hill. The portions are small and the food is put together haphazardly. I bought a tostado salad which is in a fried flour tortilla. There were no refried beans in the bottom. Only rice. They put lettuce, a sprinkle of cheese, a few dice tomatoes and a tablespoon of sour cream and then dill pickles on top. I didn't know that dill pickles were a Mexican food. I rather have chiles on top or avocado slices. So basically it was a rice and lettuce salad. I would not recommend this place. I am embarrassed to even bring a friend there to eat. I wish they would just make a few fresh dishes and they would have so much business it would be wonderful. read more

This is the second time in a couple of years that we have eaten here on our way up north. The lady at the counter was extremely nice and helpful. We were there early on a Saturday morning. I noticed the sign on the door saying that they offer menudo on Saturdays and Sundays, so my husband and I gave it a try. The bowl was huge! The broth was tasty, rich and complex. It was served with corn tortillas and chopped onions and cilantro on the side. They have indoor dining with every other table closed off for social distancing. Second time in the last month we have waited an entire hour after ordering for our food to arrive at the table. The kitchen is "backed up" is the only explanation. Neither time did either of our servers mention that it would take a long time to receive food and neither seemed concerned or surprised by the long wait. I'd like to give the place 4 1/2 stars, but this doesn't allow that. American Falls is a very small town so we weren't sure what to expect in eating establishments. When we asked, the lovely lady at the post office recommended this place. It is small, but do not let that fool you....the food we ordered was great. Initial service was friendly and fast with hot chips and a wonderful home-made, slightly spicy, chunky salsa brought to the table right away. We ordered chicken fajitas and could hear them being cooked up fresh in the back to the happy sounds of Latino voices in the back-ground. If the absolutely yummy chicken fajitas are any clue I wish we were going to be here longer to return and try more items on the menu. It's worth the stop and the prices are good as well. read more

Everyone in American Falls knows Tres Hermanos. They've made a name for themselves with their breakfast burritos and lunch items. The beef enchiladas are my favorite. Still the best Mexican food I've ever eaten and I've tried them up and down the states. The owner Jamie is also very good, and the staff is always friendly.
