The room was clean and bright and had everything we needed. The shower was great, plenty of water pressure to help remove the day's dirt and grime. As for the bed - I'm not sure whether it was the couple of drinks we had in the bar downstairs, or whether they'd sprinkled fairy dust (or narcotics) on the pillows, but we went to sleep as soon as our heads hit the pillows and slept soundly through to morning. Breakfast was good, and the guy serving was very helpful and attentive. The breakfast room was quaint and all the tables were set beautifully with butter and preserves, and sauces. We filled our boots with glee! Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends.

They are very child friendly and provide high chairs, and they are also very very friendly with smiley happy waiting staff who are even patient with my children who change their minds several times before they let them escape! There is also a large car park for ease of parking, small space out the front with chauirs for summer al fresco dining. And for kids they have a slide, monkey bars, zip wire and other bits and pieces of kids play equiptment. For adults they also do a great new Years Eve evening, with this year it being a local comedian who also sings and does karaoke. Well worth a visit especially for the food!!

The Smugglers Den Inn is a 16th century thatched inn with family, beer garden, childrens play area and ample parking. The beer garden is where we like to crash and relax. While the kids play on the apparatus we chill with a ool drink in the sun and order from the menu full of lovely food and they always have plenty of specials on the board all made using the freshest local ingredients. It is situated in a little village called Trebellan, near Cubert, less than than 15 minutes from Newquay. You approach down a steep, high sided road which is typically Cornish and the pub is right before you and very welcoming. They have regular live entertainment and also have an annual Real Ale and Pie Festival which is is it's 9th year. I pulled into the car park, and stepped across the road to ask. Serving starts in 15 minutes! Huzzah! We pulled up a seat in the bar, with the Lovely Bride's half pint of local cider and my pint of St. Austell's lovely Tribute Pale Ale, considered our options. She chose roasted chicken with veggies, and I opted for a plate of mussels. This may harken back to my childhood, but when I'm near the sea, it's tough for me not to get some local seafood. And Port Isaac Mussels less than five miles from the port are about as fresh as you can get them. They were served in a creme sauce with mature Cornish cheese grated over, and a few pieces of crusty bread to soak up the sauce. They were steamed to perfection, and I had to work hard to finish. Especially since they also provided a bowl or chips (French fries) alongside! I was full, but quite happy! It has a decent menu showcasing many local produce, with additional daily specials. Plumping for the St Kew Burger, it was pretty standard fare, but tasty nonetheless. However, my wife ordered the salmon - pan fried, with a crisp salted skin, roast tomato sauce and fresh seasonal vegetables, she said it was one of the best meals she had ever eaten. As usual I had made the wrong choice! This should have ensured a definite five stars, however, because the staff were rushed off their feet, the tone of some of them, was a little abrupt. Still St Kew Inn is a fine restaurant, echoed by its difficulty in booking in a table.
