Been waiting 4+ weeks for MTFE approval. IMPOSSIBLE (!!!) to get ahold of any employee for questions or updates. Went in person, had to wait an hour past the "back at 2:00" sign in office for an employee to show up. Was excited to live here, but seems more like a hassle. read more

This is a long one so buckle up. I wouldn't recommend living here. The previous reviewers are correct in the poor quality of the cabinets (constantly coming loose, toilet screws come loose too and the toilets tilt and move when you sit on them, the front door is painfully difficult to lock and unlock, and maintenance is hard to get ahold of. I had one request in for 6 months before someone contacted me about my request lmao sorry bro I already took care of it). All this goes to show the employees hate it almost as much as the miserable people living there do. They can't retain employees for whatever reason. The only person who they've been able to keep is Stefan and that's because he's barely there and mostly works from home. The place is a locked building but it's definitely not secure. Unhoused and drug using people are constantly loitering the area and many have broken into the secure garage and raided and vandalized people's cars. Not to mention the actual tenants are inconsiderate and deplorable people (not all of course, but enough to make people constantly complain on the community app about how many people are illegally disposing of their trash and recycling making it so others can't take their trash out, letting their animals defecate in the hallways and elevators, stealing rent money out of the locked box they have for rent deposit, stealing items from neighbors and the community areas, parking in other people's spaces, partying all night making it sound like someone is doing parkour on the floor above you, etc). And sooooo many barking dogs all day and all night it's impossible to sleep no matter what your schedule is if the partying wasn't already keeping you up. And when you bring it to management's attention they can't do anything about it or don't want to, not sure which, even if you file a police report and have copious amounts of evidence. They never even asked me for it, simply just apologized and dismissed my claims. I lived there for over a year and was stalked by one tenant, harassed, threatened and nearly ran over by another (he threatened to ram me with his car because he couldn't get into his parking spot as I was waiting for another tenant to back out of their parking spot.) Then he threatened to have his sisters come kill me because I'm a woman and he's a man and it would be too easy for him! So scary. Woke up on multiple occasions thanks to my dog being alert of a man peering into my window and taking pics of me and my dog hanging out on our porch area. Lots of drugs users in the building and I was always having to deal with weird smells and discarded cigarette butts thrown down to my balcony from others. The facilities are very aesthetically pleasing and you would think it's a lovely place to live like I did but I promise it's not. We all know apartment living comes with sacrifices so having creepy and violent neighbors is just one thing but as far as management goes it's not great either. Due to the fact they can't retain employees, many clerical errors were made regarding mine and my roommates stay there. They have an app that you can review and pay all of your charges including rent and parking etc. every month...my roommate and I always paid our bills on time and did everything that was asked of us. All the sudden, 7 months later we were told they had been charging us incorrectly and we would be responsible for their mistake of not charging us the correct amount of money. When we went to inquire about the discrepancy, the woman in the office told us those charges did not apply to our unit due it being a low income unit. Then 3 months later, we were told that woman gave us incorrect information and we were again responsible for all those back dated charges. The woman who is still there today denies it was her but it's a bit hard to deny when you're the only female employee unless you let random people have the keys to your locked office. They're so scared of the neighborhood and people that live there, they lock their office even when they step out for 2 mins. I paid them to avoid being sent to collections but it was a total scam. They acted like I was supposed to be doing their job for them like I was the one hired or something. They basically said "we know it's our fault but it's still your responsibility". So whatever, that's fair but they had no grace or understanding of how huge of a burden paying 7 months of back dated charges would be on a low income person and were unwilling to work out any sort of agreement. Anywho, moral of the story is if you want to live peacefully, don't live here. Proceed at your own risk! read more

If you're looking for a place to live that is convenient in location, I'd choose here at Mamlo! Ive lived here for over a year. I love this location because everything you need is less then 1 min away. What kept me here for so long is the incredible staff. The management here is amazing, they are the #1 reason to why I kept living here. They give you amazing support and they really look out for you. If I wasn't relocating, I'd definitely continue to live here. This place offers amazing 1bd and 2 bd room units. With modern day appliances, marble style counters, high ceilings, hardwood floors, and spacious bathrooms. This is truly a home to be in. It also offers a dog park and reserved parking. If you're looking for a place to live, I would consider here. Location, management, and beautiful units. read more

The unit itself: Maybe they were in a rush to finish up the unit when I first moved in but there was a lot of dust EVERYwhere on the floor and inside the cabinets. I had to move in right away so just dealt with it myself. The lock to the front door wouldn't lock all the way and hinges on cabinet doors kept getting loose. I reported the door thing but got no response. So I ended up fixing these things myself since I didn't want to deal with scheduling with maintenence and didn't want them to enter the unit with my dog by himself. Additionally, he blinds are horrible and get ruined very easily. Rent is overpriced for what you get. 2 stars (mainly for initial move-in problems) The leasing staff: No complaints - the staff is great! Friendly and (generally) quick to respond. 4 stars The tenants: Most are nice in person. If you look at the online community site, you'll see for many, all they do is complain about adding more amenities. Was almost run over by a tenant racing through the garage. Garbage bags often left in various places and I've seen a random shopping cart more than a couple times. I give the staff credit for dealing with them. 1 star read more

I've lived here for almost a year now, and I'm pleased. Whenever I have guests come over, they always compliment the building and my unit. This is a point of pride for me. I gladly take them on a tour and show them our workout room and our rooftop deck. Malmo is also conveniently located close to the E-line, or when I choose to drive, it's minutes from I-5. There's a "new" Safeway that's literally next door. Central Market is less than 5 blocks away. And there's a Trader Joe's that's less than a 5 minute drive on Aurora. Many more shopping options are nearby other than grocery stores. The neighbors that I have met are friendly and courteous. Malmo is pet-friendly, so you do hear dogs barking from time to time, but it hasn't been bad enough where it's annoying, or depriving me from sleep. The building is nicely maintained. Most folks are respectful of one another and do what they can to make it a livable environment. Isn't that what we want in an apartment complex? Sure, there are some inconsiderate folks that live here, but that's everywhere, isn't it? From my experience, when a complaint is brought to management's attention, they handle it rather quickly. Occasionally there is a piece of trash laying in the hallway or in the garage. Instead of complaining about it, I just pick it up. It's easier that way, I think, and it only takes like 1.5 seconds for me to toss it in the trash. I mean, I live here in this complex, and since I call this place home, I pick up trash that I see lying around when I'm able. For the occasional dog poop, or in one instance; vomit in the elevator (which was cleaned up promptly by maintenance), a quick call to management will solve the immediate problem every single time. That's been my experience at least. All in all, I gladly call Malmo home for now because the "good" far exceeds the "bad" here. read more

The unit itself is nice, clean, and modern. Think ikea, but much better quality. Having a washer and dryer in unit is a huge plus! Management and staff are awesome and address issues rather quickly. The cleaning staff is phenomenal! They make my trash room on the 4th floor smell pleasant.... A little strange to say but it's true. Most of the other tenants are very friendly and welcoming. Management hosts little get togethers and events and all tenants are welcome. There is certainly a community feel here. Location is great! Lots of good eateries within a 5 minute walk. Safeway is right next to the building. Costco and trader Joe's are a 10 minute drive/bus up Aurora. I was originally going to give 4 star review because the rent is a little higher than I'd like (but who doesn't want rent to be less anywhere they go?!), but decided to give it 5 stars because of the amazing dog welcoming community here!! I really love this apartment. I am renting an open one bedroom apartment and I've been living there for a month now. PROS: - The management is amazing! I have never lived in a place with management as friendly as Aaron and Greg. When I was signing the lease with Aaron, he gave it to me straight without sugar coating anything. They've been very easy to get a hold of and very easy to talk to. - The apartment itself is beautiful. I love the high ceilings, hardwood floor, and the countertops. I love how open the space is because it makes your apartment feel more spacious. I really appreciate that a balcony came with my unit too~ - Off leash dog park~ Now I don't have to drive to let my dog run around at a dog park :). - The roof space~~ - Actually all of the spaces in the apartment are so nice. The lobby area is great to sit and do some work. The second floor has a nice lounge area as well~ - Rent is fairly priced. It's not the cheapest but it's definitely fair for what you're getting. - The garage is spacious compared to the ones I've used at other apartments~ I also like that the spaces are assigned. - You're close to a lot of restaurants, a fun comic book store and a Safeway. MEH: - The fridge and the dishwasher is on the smaller side but it's not too bad because it's just my roommate and me. I'm not sure how big it is in bigger units. - The opening to the garage is pretty slow but this could be because the previous apartment I lived in, the garage was faster than average. - There is one elevator near my unit. I wish there were two because sometimes it takes forever for the elevator to arrive especially if someone is moving in or out. CONS: - The noise outside can get irritating if you're a light sleeper. Often you'd hear sirens, tire screeching, and/or people yelling at night or the garbage truck doing its business in the mornings. It's been annoying since I've been sleeping with the windows open due to the heat but I'm hoping things will settle down once the weather gets cooler so I can close the windows. I'm still exploring the apartment since I've been in India for most of August on a business trip but so far, so good! I will update if there are any changes to my feelings about this place :) read more
