Someone said fast service. Not so. They tell you 3 weeks. It's always 5 weeks or later. Wondering is the meat is good after all that time.

I've had some venison sausage in the freezer for almost 2 years. Some of it is green. Do I need to throw it away?

I usually don't comment with competitor options, but, if you want the best Boudin in the state of Louisiana, it's not too far from this place T-Rey's is so much better. I would hope this place would start looking at their products and putting a little bit more care into it.

As a child growing up in New Orleans I remember by grandfather from New Iberia coming to visit frequently. I have a lot of fond memories from his visits, but one of the things I remember is applicable to this review. Whenever he would arrive he would have several gifts for the family. I'm not talking about traditional gifts either. He would bring several packs of boudin and hogs head cheese from a local New Iberia shop. That must have had a lasting effect, because since then, I am on a never ending quest for good boudin and head cheese. I was on such a quest just the other day when I noticed Boudreaux's. The moment I walked in, I knew I was in the right place. There were coolers filled with stuffed chickens, roasts, pork loins, gumbo, étouffée and all other sorts of Cajun delights. In the fresh counter is where I focused my attention and will elaborate on a few items. Boudin - fresh, homemade and with the perfect combination of meat and rice. It had a slight kick, but not to overwhelming. Stuffed chicken thighs - stuffed with jalapeño cream cheese and wrapped in bacon. $375 for around 30 minutes covered and 20 uncovered. Oh my goodness gracious was this delicious. Even if you don't normally like thighs, I strongly recommend this item. Smoked boudin - I don't remember smoked boudin when I was growing up, but what a great idea. Boudreaux's version was perfect. Smoked sausage with pepper jack cheese - whatever you do, but some of this sausage. The sausage is made and smoked in house and this is, without a doubt, the best smoked sausage I've ever had. I don't know how it hod hold up in gumbo or some other dish, but it is amazing on its own. The people working behind the counter were friendly and very helpful. If you're like me and miss the Cajun butcher shops of Acadiana, I recommend you take a trip to Boudreaux's.

I'm new to Hammond, so I was thrilled to find out I had such an awesome meat market less than a mile from my house. My boyfriend and I went in to place an order and check out their frozen/refrigerated selection as well. We decided to have some lunch (which was equally fantastic) while we waited for our order to be cut. We ended up leaving with about 22lbs of meat for around $80-85 -- and it's all cut on site. That is unbeatable. Not to mention the icing on the cake is the staff is all incredibly friendly and helpful! They helped us carry our order to our car in the middle of the rain. I really can't say enough positive things about this place. They also have a Ponchatoula location, which I'm sure is just as wonderful as Hammond. All in all, I wish I could give these guys more than a 5 star review. They are truly a gem in Hammond and I hope they stay in business for a very, very long time.

They have a wide rage of meats, discount dinner prep boxes, deli meats/cheeses and hot lunch/sandwich specials. Everything is of high quality. They make their own bacon and maple bacon. They even put leftover filet trimmings in the ground beef. This place fills Hammond's need for a true deli/butcher shop that was left when Guy's Grocery in Downtown closed. The meat here is far superior than standard supermarket stock, and it comes at a fair price. They also make made to order paninis all day that come out hot and fresh.
