I can't say enough good things about Growing By Leaps & Bounds! We had to find a daycare rather…read morequickly when I unexpectedly got a job and GBLB came recommended to us by several close friends who had all sent their kids there. I was nervous about leaving my 4.5 month old with anyone, but my fears were quickly put to rest. Our daughter had colic when she started and it comforted me so much to know that they held Lilli as much as she required (which was a lot!). If I had felt like my child was upset and crying alone, I would have lost it, but they took such good care of her. If she needed to be held, they held her. They also sent lots of pictures and videos of Lilli on a regular basis, so we could see that Lilli was cared for and happy. Abby, the director, and Jenna, the infant teacher, are both moms themselves and are a great blend of personal and professional. You get all the professionalism of a top notch daycare with people that really care about kids and know how to comfort and make them feel safe and cared for. I also really appreciated their advice when Lilli got sick or hit a new developmental stage. Having their input made me feel really supported as a first-time mom. You can't put a price on knowing your child is in good hands, and it has meant so much to me to have peace of mind regarding Lilli's care. We are moving far enough away that we now have to switch daycares and it's so sad! Again, I can't recommend GBLB enough!

This place will always hold a special place in my heart! A few specific things that I want to call out, as I have found them incredibly valuable to me over the years. -GBLB is independently owned. The owner, Abby, is engaged, thoughtful, and incredible with kids. She is easy to contact and responsive. (I feel compelled to mention that she also has expert level face painting skills that each of my kids have loved!) -The staff are equally wonderful and most have been there for the full 10 years we have been at GBLB. I have loved the consistency this has provided my family/kids and they have all been remarkable. -Everyone is communicative and collaborative. I felt like we were all on the same team supporting each of my kids in their individual needs.

I absolutely love the structure it provides the kids while exposing them to educational material in a fun and engaging way. For example, my daughter recently came home with a "gravity painting" which was paint dripping down a piece of paper. What a great idea!! The teachers are all so warm and friendly, which is such a comfort when leaving your child there all day. They always have smiles on their faces and are ready to be silly with them. On more than one occasion, my daughter has been sad because she "misses Miss Melissa" or "misses Miss Tiffany." I feel so lucky I found the School for Early Excellence!!

Logistically, the the facility is new, hours are better on the late end than most of the other local facilities, and this is also one of the few day cares that prepares meals for the kid's lunches (very allergy-conscious). And while no day care is perfect, I've had no issues in scheduling time and discussing any issues I have had with the appropriate staff. Personally and most importantly for me the teachers have been great for both of my kids in providing both a good learning environment and a caring environment. My daughter goes out of her way at the end of the day during pick-up to track-down teachers and give them hugs.... while others won't let the kids go without a hug & kiss. My son's teacher in particular has been exceptional, helping him through his special needs diagnosis and learning. Revision: I'll also add that I make surprise appearances at the school now and again, and typically spend 3hrs reading books or spending time not only with my kids and their classes but also with others classrooms excited to have a story or two read to them. Cameras are great, but if you want full disclosure on a day in the classroom you sit there for a few hours unannounced on a random day. The teachers love their kids, are committed, and have the respect of their classrooms. Lastly, my wife and I had previously shared our thoughts about the benefits of the school bringing in outside groups for sports, music, language, etc to bolster the curriculum. So it was great to see soccer instructors added in. I especially enjoyed my then 3yr old tell me (a former coach myself) about the importance of ball control :-) All that said I'd highly recommend anyone considering a day are to tour the school and see if it's a fit for you.

Lacking Empathy and Basic Human Kindess…read more I had been hired by Kiddie Academy with the hopes and promises of advancing my career in early education only to find discrimination and cruelty. They have admitted to being against hiring males specifically and fired me as soon as they found out I had become homeless. I had worked hard for the short period I was there and gave everything they demanded as quickly and efficiently as I could just for them to terminate me for reasons out of my control. As soon as the Director, Nancy, was told I was living in hotels due to my mobile home being crashed into by a snowplow (enough to have left damage making it unlivable) she fired me. It did not matter how good of a worker I was for them, she discriminated against me due to my currently living hardships and in turn making life in general much harder after letting me go. I had even turned down other positions for this job just to be treated in this way. On top of all of this, I still have not been paid for my time there AND Nancy tried to cut down the hours I would get paid. Are these the kind of people you want teaching your kids? Lacking empathy and basic human compassion, sexist, do you really want your kids growing and learning from an environment and people like that? Trust me, if you love or care for your child, you will go elsewhere because they don't care about your child just the money they bring in.

The way the school progresses the kids through their classroom system is brilliant, keeping each kid with their own age group and abilities. Nevan has always looked forward to each day at school and literally runs through the front door each day to whichever classroom he's been in. To go along with this our older two kids had attended a different daycare/preschool which we were very happy with at the time. Due to live changes our middle guy and youngest had to start attending a different school (Wonder Years). While we were extremely happy with our original daycare we quickly saw how much Wonder Years blew it out of the water in comparison. Wonder Years also made it extremely easy for our middle guy to transition from his original school. He quickly made new friends, which he still has to this day and enjoyed his last year of preschool there which prepared him greatly for kindergarten. Thank you Karen and staff for taking such great care of our kids. Due to the nature of work/life you spend a lot of quality time with our kids and we have a great piece of mind knowing that they are in your hands when they are not with mom and dad.
