The thought "oh, I can leave my kiddo here" came to me pretty unexpectedly and clearly during that visit, and I legit got pretty emotional. The other reviews ring true. The classroom space is organized, positive and always stimulates and enriches their learning; from the interactive reading of CAPS where students got to practice balancing hats on their heads, to the excitement of playing in the 'big gym' at the Boys and Girls club and of course, the creative art projects that involve him painting his hands to make imprints or making homemade slime or experimenting with the fizzy properties of baking soda! The staff is always engaging with students, checking-in, and making them feel heard and seen. Waltham Childcare Center is also dedicated to preparing their students for Kindergarten. My son, who will be 5-years-old this October, has made tremendous gains in his social-emotional learning, counting, letter identification and speech. As a teacher myself, their curriculum and learning instruction are outstanding and I have no doubts that my son will enter Kindergarten hitting every benchmark and then some. In fact, they are often able visit the library which has enabled my son to develop a love for books. There is no place like this place. It truly is a family place. Every graduation, they have a party, and everyone gets involved. Now I feel like I'm seeing family and old friends. At first, I was in awe. Also at first, when I first left my son there, I was so scared. He's my first, and had nightmares in my head from horrors you hear about on the news, too much scary nightly news. I was so nervous and not ready to trust anyone with my son, and was so nervous something would happen, and knew no one would truly care about him like I do, and was not ready to believe I could relax. I feel bad as I think back about it now, i just didn't know then. This place, and the people in it, are a gem. I love them so much, trust them, and as my son will be finishing up his last year, I would be heartbroken - if I didn't have another one who'll be attending. When I went for my first time to a graduation, I saw some moms crying that their kids were finishing up there. I get it now, and am not looking forward to that day, but I think my husband and I will always keep in touch. They are not just trustworthy, and caring, and do amazing crafts and the kids learn so much. They, again, are truly a family, and treat you like family. I look forward to the parties, and even just saying hi on days I get to pick my son up (my husband always wants to drop off and pick up, he loves to chat too!). We were with them through first steps, first solids, first words, navigating a pandemic, potty training, having a sibling, losing teeth, learning to ride a bike and write their name, making friends and becoming self-assured and self-sufficient 5 year olds that were ready to make a seamless transition to Kindergarten. Not only is the facility and outdoor play spaces beautiful, but the school follows a curriculum that is shared each week and brings in outside companies, librarians and more to do specialized activities onsite as well. From bike days to pizza/pj fundraisers, apple pie making for Thanksgiving, to art shows, there was always something to look forward to. When we looked at many daycares when my first child was born, this school stood out leaps and bounds above the rest for having an educational plan in place, not just child care. I can't thank the Goddard School enough for the role they have played in such formative years for my children. The teachers care about the kids like family.
