Why 5 stars? Because this might be the best donut and kolache spot in the area. --- --- --- I recently discovered Malenee when I was browsing Yelp in Conroe and was intrigued to visit. I realize that there are approximately 585 donut and kolache shops per square mile around here, but for some reason, I was really drawn to the idea of wanting to come here. Sadly, the first time I came by, they were closed because of a family emergency, but a few days later I came back and am so glad I did. First off, one thing I love is that they have many different types of kolaches, biscuits and tacos to choose from. I intended to order a little light breakfast of maybe two kolaches and two donuts, but I ended up spending nearly $30 because I couldn't help but try so many different things! I ended up loving everything. The biscuits were particularly awesome. I'm not sure what kind of breading they use, but it's unique. It's almost as if they top has a super thin layer of caramelized sugar on it, but without it being sweet. The texture of the bacon and cheese biscuit was primo. I was stuffed but couldn't help finishing that, because I loved it so much. The donuts were also great and a bit unique. Shipley's started the trend of having really airy donuts, which have now been copied by virtually all other donut shops. But these had a little bit more girth to them, while keeping that great "Shipley's-type" flavor. I also appreciated the drive-thru. It just makes life easier. After one visit, this will officially be my go-to donut/kolache spot in the future - I'm so glad I discovered it! read more

Gotta get the maple bacon The kolaches are a better product than most from the sausage to the dough I love small mom & pop joints. This family is so happy to help and proud of their small business. Wow, 5 stars all around. Located less than .5 mi away from 45. If you're passing through and want some donuts and/or coffee, skip DD or Shipley's and come here! The owners were working the morning I went and were the friendliest people I've encountered at an establishment like this. There was somewhat of a line when I got there (2 people in front of me) and by the time it was someone's turn, they were greeted warmly and with an apology/thank you for the wait. Great customer service. This place does have a drive-thru, which is awesome, and it appears that 1 person works the drive-thru, while the other works the line inside. I did not try their donuts or coffee, just their kolaches. Whatever they use for their bread is AMAZING. It was so soft, creamy and unlike any I've ever had in a kolache. For the kolaches, I got their jumbo boudain kolache, beef and cheese, and Chapell Hill. Their jumbo boudain kolache was truly huge and the spice was awesome. Just the perfect amount of spice to where it gives me a little ting, but still retains the flavor and doesn't make my tongue feel like it's on fire. read more

I will return with an update at a later date. My first time at establishment and my opinion is neutral neither good nor bad, and the last thing I want to do is leave a bad review when businesses probably depend on our reviews. I'm from Houston so obviously there's a lot more options of mom and pops donut shop's compared to Conroe. I'm not a fan of chain donut shops. The reason I mentioned that is because my all time favorite place in Houston, if I arrived at 5 am the donuts and kolaches are so freaking hot and fresh omg. So when I arrived here at 5 am both my regular glazed donut and kolaches were not out oven fresh . The glazed donut was pretty good it was not too sweet which I really like and the kolaches actually were pretty good. So, if you are searching for donuts definitely give them a try over chain restaurants. I plan to try one more time because today is a weekday, this is Conroe which is smaller and probably do not experience higher volumes like my favorite shop in Houston I'm assuming. I plan to try again on a Saturday morning to see if I can get super fresh items which would make this a 5 star because i did enjoy the items I purchased. Hope this helps! read more

Went to get a ham and cheese croissant from what we saw on the menu picture and when we got there we're upset that it was a sandwich instead of wrapped up inside prior to baking.
