In the first Zoom meeting, I kept telling her about what's going on with my family and how important it is and she said she can't help me regarding my child, but she can help me with just me. I kept telling her that something was going on with my child that made me feel a certain way so that I needed to talk about that. She kept saying that she cannot help my child and I understood that. Anyways, I told her that if she specializes in human trafficking and she's a Christian because that's the two things that I was shocked to see someone had a specialty in and that is what I needed help in. I believed this was set up and a blessing from above, from God himself because how easy is it to find Christian-based therapy with specific things you're going through? She just seemed very dismissive and she seemed like she didn't wanna see me and I just told her that I feel like this is a very important matter to me that I need to speak about it and then we eventually came to a mutual understanding about what I needed in therapy. In the second session, she said that I cannot see her anymore because I need to take medicine and I already have a therapist. I told her I don't have a therapist. Their office and the hospital just said that I have one, but that I don't. I'm not seeing one right now. I was seeing one from before but I am not seeing anyone but her. She said if I don't do the medicine (which the hospital didn't require) then they can't see me. I said fine I don't think we can do this then. So we mutually agreed to end services with one another. Then I decided to go to Linda. So I made an appointment with her. The day I got a phone call, I didn't respond because I was busy. They left me an email saying my appointment was canceled the day of and they sent me an email discharging me. I called the office and the girl said the manager said I am not a good fit so they will not be seeing me anymore. I asked to speak to the supervisor to get this right. She was listening to everything that I said I said I was gonna write a Yelp review. I said that I did the survey just so that they would have feedback to know what went on with me. To know that I wasn't satisfied, wasn't helped, didn't feel hurt, just got out of the hospital, I don't have a therapist now and now I have to look for one, and they just didn't help the way that I needed them to. They kicked me out two times. So I confirmed with the manager about her saying I am not a good fit and they won't be seeing me anymore. So I got an email that they discharged me and I just told them I don't trust them or feel comfortable doing any work with them or any services with them anymore. And it's there. I would not recommend anyone who just got out of the hospital who's kind of vulnerable and is trusting people to help them to just go here and expect them to actually help, as they treated me like easy throw away patient, with no compassion.

The owner/founder of thrle facility will call you back and do a phone consult to determine which avenue would be best suited for you. The older gentleman, Rene, was very patient and empathetic. He set me up with an appointment that same day!! The office is located in the Hawaii Kai Shopping Center, in the same parking lot as Outback Steakhouse. They are located on the 2nd floor of the same building as Roy's. Their office is unmarked (probably to protect their clients' privacy). If you're in the middle of the beautiful garden, they are located directly above Surf Paws. The reception staff is very welcoming, warm, and friendly. I'm sure that is very helpful for those who may be experiencing significant hardships. There are a multitude of counseling specialist, from therapists to psychiatrists. The office itself is very small, but friendly. There is a Keurig that you are welcome to help yourself to. All in all, I drive all the way from Ewa to here because the staff truly cares about you and your well-being.

This review is more for my experience with my selected therapist than for Xplor Counseling itself,…read morealthough they were communicative with my request for therapy and honest about the potential 5 week wait (or more). After about a month, Xplor let my know that my choice in therapist, Joanne H, would be reaching out to schedule. She did and about a week and a half later, we were meeting face-to-face in an office space she borrows in Aiea, which was so much closer to my Ewa Beach location. I met with Joanne for about 3 months and saved her number for any "maintenance" that I may require in the future. I really enjoy her style of therapy. It's honest, thought provoking, and non judgmental. She didn't feed me the "and how does that make you feel" BS; rather she asked the tough questions and really had me taking a look at my concerns from the inside out. She validated my feelings and helped me to rationalize them to take the emotion out and move forward in a way that gave me the confidence in myself to really make changes that I can be proud of. For some context, my son married a young lady who is not, at this point, accepting his family as openly as we are willing to accept her. It has not been easy, and it's far from resolved, but my time with Joanne helped me to own what's mine, rebuild my relationship with my son, and let go of the parts that are out of my control. I was battling with a 'sense of failure' as a father/husband/person due to what I thought was from financial pressures and a lack of empathy, accountability with my was breaking down my relationship with my wife. His counseling experience and deep knowledge of 'Complex Relational trauma response' helped me understand how I was reacting to conflict which induced my own defensiveness reactions and anger. He provided me with my own personal tools to deploy on a regular basis. These helped me be nice to myself and appreciate my purpose and that I was actually doing my best to improve myself and provide love most importantly. Some of those solutions and tools such as meditation, mindfulness, self awareness/development created personal behavioral changes and coping strategies I now feel better about myself . A relationship tools I really liked was his own self developed 'Oh-Five-X Repair Framework' ( a one page document) which has provided us ability to create a safe place for trust, healing, and recovering from past trauma and experiences in our relationship and personal pasts. I've developed a deeper understanding and awareness of myself and Justin's actionable tools and strategies are much more than what most other life coaches or counselors can deliver. Its his ability to land these strategies/tools on point and get you to understand how to employ them to get better/improve/develop yourself With this guidance I've noticed I've become more empathetic, less reactive and more self caring so my family can continue to heal, and our relationship and welfare of ourselves benefits our family. In a nutshell, indescribable would be easy to say, but also the immediate feeling right after the session. I can breathe a bit better if not easier, weight on my shoulders feels lighter.
