I would give King Kalakaua Center zero stars if it was possible. I worked there as the Administrative Assistant it waas HORRIBLE. The founder, whose about 87 years old is still practicing and he is a great therapist. However, he does not know how to use a computer and he makes his own schedule, thus, he double books himself and forgets - this happens about three times a week. He does not even have an email address. The therapists are AWFUL. They gossip about their patients and complain about them, which makes the therapists biased towards treating them and I was told to many of times by the therapists to NEVER book certain patients with them ever again - ALL because the patients were "difficult". Isn't that the point of going to therapy? To find out why you're experiencing inner and mental health difficulties and trying to receive solutions/help/advice/education/coping mechanisms to be more in control?? Also, they use Google Suite, which is NOT SECURE AT ALL. They're cheap. In addition, each therapist is basically renting the space in the clinic, so they make their own schedules and can pick and choose what new patients they want to take. Once again, this goes back to them being biased. If they do not like the reason initially given by a potential patient for seeking therapy, they will NOT take them as a patient and have the Administrative Assistant call them and lie, saying that the particular patient is "not accepting new clients" and pass them onto another therapist. It is more confusing and annoying since each therapist will call the office 15 minutes before an appointment and ask the Administrative Assistant to call the patient and reschedule them because they are "'busy running errands". They also change their minds about which health insurance plans they accept on a whim, so the Administrative Assistant has to take care all of that. I do NOT recommend this clinic. read more
