This place is consistently excellent in all areas, food, service, and value. I think it is my favorite restaurant since moving here four years ago. Every time I come here, I am blown away by the different dishes. Last week, I tried the cod or Boston scrod in curry. It came with veggies, basmati rice, and the flavors were just crazy good. Before that, I tried the coconut soup with chicken, another delicious dish and tried the hot pot soup which my wife enjoyed. Both great! I was really excited to try this place, being that it had both Thai and Vietnamese cuisine, also in a trendy area. We started with the Imperial rolls which is a fancy way of saying egg rolls. I'm Vietnamese so I've eaten egg rolls at least 50+ restaurants, these are by far the SMALLEST egg rolls I've ever eaten and seen in my entire life, talk about being stingy. The pic I took actually makes them look bigger than they are. Then I tried to green curry, which honestly tasted kind of chalky, not much veggies either. Had dinner there last night with two good friends. Everything was excellent. I started with some imperial rolls - small portion but they were very tasty. Then I had some pineapple fried rice with shrimp which was delicious; my friends had drunken noodles and chicken and broccoli noodles. We also had three orders of shrimp chips (SO GOOD) and finished with the most delicious piece of coconut cream pie. Everything was fresh and very flavorful. The Vietnamese Meatballs Lettuce Wraps and Mango Sticky rice were both absolutely delicious. The Vietnamese meatballs come as 4 sausage like patties with lettuce, basil, cilantro and mint. The Mango Sticky Rice was unique; it came in a 1/2 coconut full of sweet warm coconut milk, sticky rice and of course mango, the plate also had shaved coconut and more rice holding the 1/2 coconut shell in place. Have visited onsite a couple times, but recently have ordered for delivery several times. Variety of dishes, Asian inspired with good flavors. Lamb shank with a good flavorful brown sauce, salmon with chili and peanut sauce, lemongrass flavors (soup, chicken..) that are characteristic in several items. Samplers provide a cross section of apps, with ability to add-on favorites. Delivery packaging is secure and allows for a bit of warmup at eating time, as arrived or next day warmups. Make sure to get an extra selection or 2 to keep the satisfaction for later as well, flavors here do hold up. read more

UPDATE: have been back several times but last night was very disappointed from a service aspect, the food is always delicious. Needed a table for 5 and was quoted 1 hour - completely understand.... it's Friday night and in the heart of the beautiful Clearfork shopping center. Unfortunately it's a tight space and not enough room for 5 people to sit - I asked if I could leave a number for a text/call once the table was ready, "store policy" is they don't make outbound contact. Then why did you plant yourself in the middle of a shopping center??? I wanted to walk next door to Mizzen+Main and look for some shirts, but was forced to wait because of the store policy.... do you realize their are other eating establishments you are competing with? If we didn't have out of town guests, we would have sent someone to get a table somewhere else and you would have lost the business (and will in the future). Why is your "store policy" preventing shopping while we wait for your delicious food??? read more

I seen wonderful reviews on Malai Kitchen so my boyfriend and I decided to spend our late Valentines dinner here. The waiter we had was very nice and knew a lot about the menu and even brought us a Valentine's Day special menu since we didn't receive one when we first sat down. We ordered a salmon appetizer featured on the Valentine's Day menu that was DELICIOUS and decided to order entrees from the same menu. My boyfriend ordered the halibut with shrimp and a red sauce that was amazing and I ordered something with scallops in it that I thought I would like but ended up being something I wasn't quite feeling. The waiter came out and asked how our meal was and I was honest and told him it wasn't my favorite and I was still figuring out whether I liked it or not because I didn't want to be the person to send food back.. the manager came over (I assume) and he talked to me about my entree and gave me a little bit more information and told me that he didn't mind bringing me anything else on the menu and wanted me to have the best possible experience and enjoy my meal. It was truly the best customer service and I definitely felt they absolutely do go above and beyond for their customers! I ended getting the entree I originally had planned on getting from the beginning before I saw the Valentine's Day menu and it was the scallop pad Thai that was so good!! It had tofu which I never really had and just the flavors and spices just made the tofu taste amazing! Decent food, but not quite worth the price. For my wife and I to eat (two entrees and an appetizer) it was $70. Not astronomically expensive, but the food just wasn't tasty enough to justify a bill that high. The atmosphere at Malai Kitchen is phenomenal! We received fresh silverware and napkins after finishing our appetizers, a small but appreciated gesture. The background music was great. Our super friendly, relatable and peppy server Nurit provided the best service I've ever had. It was my first time at this restaurant. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and her suggestions were just as great as her service. She even introduced us to the owner of the restaurant. Yummy! Started with the Jalapeno Basil Margarita and my partner in crime had the Malaysian Martini - very tasty! We had the sampler platter that featured 4 of their appetizers. . . It kicked ASS! Flavors - freshness- just great food. We got a bottle of the Urgent red blend (enjoyed it immensly). My guy had the Chaing Mai noodles and shrimp Currie and I went for the drunken noodles. My absolute favorite place in clearfork, not only the food its amazing as well as the service. I've been here twice, Mary and Teddy took care of me for the time I was there, and I have to say my experiences were great, and they are awesome! I've been to the location in south lake the experience was so mediocre I did not even bother to write an review, because I don't remember much. but both places they have great selection of wine, I use to never pair Thai food with wine or mixed drinks, but now all that is changed. I call this place "fancier casual" its a casual place, but the decor and the ambiance of the restaurant definitely fancier than most Thai places. Prices are very reasonable, and food its great, I can confidently say order anything on the menu, you will not be disappointed. presentation is great, portion its like 2 meals for me because I always drink, I could never finish my meals, take it to go and theres my lunch next day. Malai Kitchen is a nicely designed and decorated Thai in the new outdoor mall at Clearfork on the outskirts of Fort Worth. I first became a fan of Malai when I was living in the West End in Dallas. I became a regular there and my wife and daughters who happen to really enjoy Thai cuisine often visited there when we got the urge for good Thai food. The Malai in the Uptown area of Dallas did and still does a good deal of business and reservations are always recommended for dinner. I have since moved to Granbury and was really glad to see that we would now have a Malai much closer. I am very partial to their soups with the Chicken Pho Ga being my favorite. The wife enjoys the Lemongrass Chicken we both like Shishito Peppers for an appetizer. Everything is well executed and the service is on point. Happy to have Malai in my area for a very good dining experience. Oh, by the way, reservations are recommended at this location as well! read more

Several months ago I wrote a glowing review for this restaurant. My wife and I had become "regulars" and ate there at least two or three times a week. No small feat given that we live an hours drive away (each way). We brought family and friends with us and happily recommended it to everyone we knew. Our business alone exceeded $200 a week plus that of those we recommended. As a small gesture of appreciation of our consistent patronage (from one if their managers), they would offer us a complementary glass of wine when we visited. The wine retails for $6.00 a glass (they pay much less for a bottle wholesale). That was very nice and much appreciated but not expected and a small cost to them for the business we brought in. Well, management changed and their attitude towards us changed drastically. They told us straight out that they could no longer offer us free wine. We, of course, can afford the wine but the real message was that "regulars" don't matter. You are "just another customer". The wait staff is still very attentive and the food is really quite good, however, eating out involves the entire dining experience. When the management treats you like you are too much trouble to put up with, the meal quickly becomes uncomfortable and unpleasant. On our last visit, we waited for a booth for about 20 minutes and were then told that one was available. Before we could be seated, other customers moved to that booth. The Owner apologized for that happening. We were upset but continued to wait until a booth was available. We thought the Owner offered us a complementary glass of wine for our inconvenience but later learned she charged us for the wine she gave us (she left before we received the bill and the manager would not talk to us). Again, we can buy a glass of wine if we want one but being treated badly, especially by the Owner, was an afront and an insult. We called her the next day to ask why she charged us for the glasses of wine. We felt she was very rude when she spoke to us. She told us we "expected" free wine and she was not in business to give away anything, she was in business to make a profit. We told her we only accepted wine when it was offered and thought it was a welcoming gesture for our dedication to her restaurant. We (erroneously) thought that a couple of dollars in "free" wine was more than offset by the hundreds of dollars we paid to eat and drink there. She made it very clear that she didn't appreciate our patronage and consistent visits so we told her we would no longer eat at her establishment - and it has been over a month and we have not been back. There are many fine restaurants in Clearfork and Fort Worth so we are patronizing them. Apparantly, she runs a "turn and burn" operation and repeat customers are not needed. She can make her money from others, but not from us. We no longer recommend that anyone eat at the Malai Kitchen. Choose a restaurant that appreciates your first time or repeat business. read more

I had the lunch special for the day which was charred flat noodles. The serving size was humongous! I was really excited until I tasted it. It was a little bitter tasting and not quite up my alley. I and others in my group who ordered this particular dish were unable to finish and did not bother taking away. Other dishes seemed delicious though. read more

The service was spectacular as well as the food! They had the best coffee and I highly recommend the mango sticky rice mash! From the managers to the white staff everyone was very friendly and ready with suggestions and answers to any of our questions. I'm not a vegetarian, but I generally prefer tofu over meat. When I asked the server if I could switch out chicken for tofu in my Curry he was quick to point out that the base is made with a fish paste and they have multiple options available for me if I am a strict vegetarian. I'm not of course, but it was really excellent to see a restaurant ready to go with options for people with dietary restrictions. read more
